nope, like i said very few of the snatchers stuck around to help others. i try to seed it a few hours every day for the people stuck on it but they too run off as soon as they get 100% sort of seams to be a waste of my time and bandwidth.

Yessir. I have a couple rare old games as well, but reached the same conclusion. One man can't can't seed the world, BT isn't designed to be a one man show.

correct, and the attitude of 'Well i seeded it till a 1-1' doesn't cut it with me when there are so few seeds on this particular torrent. i seeded it 7-0 and still try to get the few left on it finished up when bandwidth permits. Lord knows with folks like 'tmoney25' who disconnected as soon as he hit 100% and then reconnected to seed (to clear the low ratio he had prior to compleation) and has had it paused the entire time.

are most leechers so oblivious to the fact that you can monitor their every download???

your computer wasn't off at that time, you were actively leeching other files and had the MGS2S torrent paused, believe me i check things like this, not only while your seeding but while your leeching as well.

oh well sorry if thats the case, it must of been some kind of accident because i never pause any seeds or downloads. i juss let my downled files seed the next day and then i stop when my ratio is or is close to 1.00 because i have to delete the files because my computer gets too full! i dont mean to hit and run!

I'm not trying to condemn you for how you do your leeching but the site is only what the members make it to be. seeding 1-1 does nothing at all to improve the site.

imagine if everyone had ran off as soon as they got the file and you were still leeching and stuck at 99% now you've downed almost 6 gig and it's of no use to you because you cant get that last few meg??

i keep an eye out on the people leeching files i upload on every site, other sites i have no complaints out of, the people post a 'Thanks' and they help seed what they leech well past a 1-1, folks who can't are VIP members or other uploaders. i don't complain about VIPs or Uploaders who H&R, they contribute to the site in other ways.

I agree with what you say KC, but not everybody has a giant HD to store games indefinitely. People shouldn't feel like leech's if they seed everything 1:1. That's all I do. I'd love to be noble and seed everything to a 2:1 ratio or better, but my limited HD space doesnt' allow it. I have to clean out my HD once a month in order to make room for new stuff.

don't take this the wrong way Tokijin but saying 'i don't have the space on my drive' because you need to delete the file your seeding so you can download a new torrent..........well i guess you can see where I'm going here. if you don't want to invest in a bigger drive (a 200g drive is less then 100 bucks) then support the site, become a VIP. a $30 VIP status on one of the better private trackers will give you 3 months of unlimited downloading, the average low speed end DSL will pull 8+ gig per day of download, thats a new $20 movie or $50 game every 12 hours roughly.

budget the $$$ to afford a new harddrive/VIP membership or budget the downloads, you don't have to have every new game/movie that is upped. and while people are charged for bandwidth by the byte in some countries most people who are downing torrents are not so failing to post a THANKS UPLOADER is inexcusable for anyone.

and Tokijin before you start to think I'm out to get you again, check your PM, I'm about to send you something that will brighten your day I'm sure.

Oh yeah I'm not saying there isn't a certain amount of selfishness involved in it, I could get a bigger HD, but I don't have the time or money right now. I may in time. My personal feeling is that a 1:1 ratio is acceptable. I'm relatively new to the private tracker scene. So if I'm violating some form of ettiquette on TL or private tracker's, that isn't my intent. If a simple thank you posted in the TL forums is all that people who seed games ask for, then that's not much trouble at all. I didn't want to get too involved in their forums, because as liberal as AD is with their rules, I'm used to certain level of candor when it comes to backing up games. I don't want to say the wrong thing and get banned. I could read the forums rules lol. Anyway I don't think you're out to get me. I just find there's more than one way to look at most things. I will always do my best to seed to a 1:1 ratio. For me, that's good enough, at least for now. Cheers!

I'm not talking about posting in the forums, at the bottom of every torrent is a comment section, that is there for you to post thank yous to the uploader or report problems with the torrent/files/nfo.

there are allot of people who think that a 1-1 is acceptable, but your not giving anything in an attempt to make the site a better place, your simply giving back what you took, nothing more. if everyone only gave what they took, there would be nothing for you to take.

it does get very annoying though for example when i was downloading tony hawks american wasteland which had like 600 seeders and i was barely getting over 15kb but i was uploading at 60kb and trying to connect to a seeder on a tony hawks american wasteland torrent is very hard.

how is that annoying? I'm currently uploading twisted metal black at 96.5 kB/s and downloading at 0....... that doesn't mean that everyone connected is getting a download of that, you have to take the seeder/leech rations into consideration plus the combine peer upload/download speed.

if your in the upper part of the pack with the highest percentage of the total torrent expect lower speeds, new leechers will get much higher speeds because there are more peers for them to connect to because everyone in the peer group has something they don't.

i can look at a torrent seeder/leecher list and tell you the average speed that I can connect at, you should study that list as well (on sites that allow leechers to do so) and you can learn what to expect for your connection speeds this way you'll know when is a good time for you to leech on.

I'm not pointing any fingers here so don't anyone take it that way, but 90% of the people downloading torrents don't have a clue as to how the clients work what is actually going on during downloads. they also do not know how to set up their client to maximize speeds for their connection speed. adjusting your slots/connections to match your speed can give huge improvements in speeds both down and up. i don't think Tokijin will mind testifying to the truth behind that. would you??? a few adjustments here and there on his client has recently given him a fairly good boost in speed.

yes when you run a router the router has your ISP dynamic IP and each computer tied to that network will have a different static IP, otherwise the data wouldn't know where to go on the line.

Yeah I'm certainly not new to the PS2 backup scene, but as far as BT, I don't understand the ins and outs perfectly. It's fairly complex, so I don't think anyone should feel like a dummy if they aren't getting super speeds. I used Azureus/public trackers for a long time. I put up with shite speeds a lot longer than I should of. Now I switched to ”torrent and private trackers and followed KC's advice as far as slot connections and proper settings. I've gotten an average of 120kB's/sec with the last couple games I've downloaded. So I've gotten whole games in a couple hours! Now some of you with lightning fast connections may be used to that, but I'm sure as hell not. I would get 20-30kB's/sec with Azureus. Some games would dip much lower than that. I've downloaded 4 games in 4 days, it used to take me four days to download one! KC does know what he's talking about. GregInnes, this link should help you configure your router and set up a static IP.
