Use a really high number such as 34575.

Hello!

I am new here. I have a annoying problem. The funny thing is, that it seems like some else has the exact same problem, but nobody answered him why.

This is the prob:

"I'm new to BitTorent and i have been tryin to download some "things".....I tried to resume the download and on all 20-50 of the downloads i am trying to get it says:
"ERROR (time)
Problem Connecting to tracker - (10061,'Connection Refused')

Then under the estimated time left it says "connecting to peers"....I've been waiting for a pretty long time now and nothing happened yet....does anyone know what is wrong?
I have tried different urls.

Could it be some kind of firewall, that blocks 100%? I am at work... If yes, how do i solve the problem?

Thank you!
N

Thanx

I'm also new to Bid Torrent world. I'm currently trying to download a video file and right now it's saying
Download rate 17 kib/s
upload rate 0 kib/s

I'm running on DSL line and it's telling me that estimated time left 139hours

The file size id 4723.4mb. Is this normal or will it speed up?

Advice to EVERYONE who wants to know about there Download speeds, use Go Suprnova, or Suprnova.org, or whatever site you prefer. Make sure that the seeds EXCEEDS the download number, if it doesn't try to find was that does, this will increase your download speed because you have more people with the complete thing serving it out.

@Spunks3,
.torrent files are files that are controlled by any "BitTorrent" program, here are links to some programs,

Azureus (Personal Favorite)
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Bit Tornado (also a very good BT program):
http://bittornado.com/

ABC (Based off of Bit Tornado):
http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/download.php

To find .torrent files, i recommend this program:
Go Supernova
http://gosupernova.free.fr/files/download.php

But, here is what a Suprnova Admin said about the program (if its any concern to you)

"It really shouldn't be used. Not only does this application sound buggy as hell, its not in anyway supporting suprnova. Anyone whos been around long enough to remember sites like torrentse.cx know that bittorrent is a game of survival of the fittest. Most sites recieve warning letters, cant stand the bandwidth, cant afford to run, and so on. Suprnova is a one of a kind, with its own design, a huge unique database, and a lot of support behind it.

If the support drops, so does the site. Ads fund the mirrors, and bandwidth costs are high. If all the ads are removed with a third party application, suprnova loses its income support. Although income isnt the only thing keeping suprnova running, donators, moderators, admins, uploaders, mirrors all help, but with this particular app, it would also waste a hell of a lot of bandwidth. So nothing good comes from this app, and it really doesn't help the site.

May it burn in torrent hell."

@jakks,
If it is when you start up a torrent for the first time (even one that you have had on your PC for a while), and you get an IO (or whatever) error, re-download the torrent file this usually fixes that problem.

Angel 503 - whilst playing movies from bin/cue is far from ideal, a program called VLC (Video Lan Client) will play the movie for you.

Alternatively, you could use SmartProject's ISOBuster to extract the video file from the image file you have already.

Hiope it helps.

I have been using Azureus and Bittornado for awhile now.I think Bittornado has got Azereus beat only for the fact that Azureus won't let me get green status, but is there any P2P programs out that are compatible with Satellite connection.I only see dsl/cable T1/T3 connection programs, but I can't seem to find a program that will adjust with Satellite.I was wondering is there a bittorrent program out that runs pretty good for satellite connection. When I use Bittornado I can get Green status, but with Azureus I am getting yellow status which is not good.I went and configured bittornado to run off these ports 6881-6889 and also tried forwarding the same ports for Azureus.I still get the yellow status in Azureus. The problem I am having is finding what ports Azureus runs off of.I am running bittornado off one computer and have Azureus on the other computer.I can get pretty decent speeds with bittornado, but with Azureus I am pretty much in a freeze state it seems. My downloads take too long to start and my upload speed is way over the limit I think in my oppinion.I think I upload about double or triple the amount I download.I am having these problems just with Azureus not bittornado.I was wondering if somebody could help me out with Azureus.I went and disable UPnP also and set my router to use TCP instead of both which is UTP and TCP.I seen that in the Wiki fact off of Azureus that takes you to a guide helping a lil bit,but doesn't explain alot.If someone could point me in the right direction to getting green status in Azureus I would appreciate it alot.

Hey Spunks3 try out Bittornado man when you use it forward your ports to 6881-6889 and you should get green status.I can't really help you out on speed comparison, but I normally use unlimited and I can get pretty decent speeds with it.I think if you also use 6881-6999 those ports also work. You are gonna have to get to your routers setup using the 192.168.0.3 or something similiar to this.I am using the linksys super wireless G router and that is how I get into my router and forward ports. If you are using Azureus I can't really help you out with that program, since I am having a rough time with that getting green status. If someone can help me out with that I would appreciate it.I can't get nothing downloading though with yellow status,it is giving me notta d@mn thing.I am currently using Azureus, but yellow status still gives me the impression that I am still in firewall status.I can't get the right ports opened in Azureus, can somebody help me out with which ports to forward. Thanks and advance and Spunks3 try out Bittornado for right now the site to get it is here http://www.bittornado.com it works pretty good.I have no probs with the bittornado program probably easiest to get green status with.

Oh alright my bad Spunks3 you might want to try out ZoneAlarm then.It has a port forwarding system in there which you can configure your ports to open up.I used to know how to use the program, but it has been a long time and I use a router now.I am kinda lost on how to tell you what to do with the program, but it is a firewall program that can help you forward certain ports for P2P programs. You might wanna give this a shot it might solve the problem you are having.I think all it really is to be honest is your ports are blocked or just not opened.

Spunks3 - if you're p!ssed off and have tried a few torrent clients, try downloading PTC.

Some clients are good at connecting to loads of different trackers, like BitTornado, but give average d/l speeds.

In my experience, PTC connects to MOST trackers, and if your cap your uploads to 2 or 3 k/s - your d/l speed can go as high as 70-80k/s.

I know that capping your upload speed so low may not be an example of the true spirit of sharing promoted by the BT network. But - if anything quadruples my d/l speed, I'll do it.

Worth a try mate.

I was wondering one thing though ptwenty.I am not sure that is gonna solve his issue with opening certain ports man.I think you have to open up certain ports for any P2P program to download off of.I think it is cool you pointed him in the direction of that program PTC (it looks like the ABC client to me),but he has to figure out a way to forward his ports for any P2P programs right.I think you can use a firewall program Spunks3 like the one I mentioned ZoneAlarm or something similiar to it.If you go to this one place in the firewall program allow the certain ports such as 6881-6889 you will get your top speeds constantly.I am still stuck on Azureus, and am trying to find a way right now to forward the right ports for it.I will keep searching for the answer, and Spunks3 you should try it out man.I seen a guide on it for Edonkey, although Edonkey is different than bittorrent you can still use it to forward those ports like Edonkey.I think all P2P programs use the port forwarding system as of now,and it is frustrating setting it up just get your best speeds.
