Hi monklord,

Sounds like you don't have a D: drive.
It's a GigaPocket requirement.

Has anybody here tried GIGA POCKET's WEEKLY timer recording, kept running it for several weeks and still had no problem?

Hi ckwan,

I have used the timer recording for last 4 years with no problems w/ v4.3. Week after week, different channels etc. I cannot say for v5.x+
For me, I use standby mode.
Comes out of standby, records, then returns to standby.
What timer issue and version are you having problem with?

Agak,

I have Giga Pocket 5.0 on PCV-RZ14G. I set up a timer recording Monday through Friday every week. I did exactly what you did. Every night before going to bed, I ran Timer Recording Manager to set the computer to standby. Last time, it worked for about 2 weeks and then stopped recording and gave me this error message:

"(RMAN4110)
Cannot record. The error code of driver is as follows.
Encode Overflow(WP_MPGMUX_ENCODE_OVERFOLLOW)"

Do you know what driver this message is refering to? How do I clean it up to stop the overflow?

ckwan,
Does it only happen from standby?
Sounds like a hardware problem to me.
1) The harddrive may not be spinning up quick enough when coming out of standby. Before swapping parts out, I would unplug the power connectors on all harddrives and tighten them and reconnect.
2) Unplug all pci cards, harddrive cables, memory cards and reinsert them.
3) Swap harddrive ide cable.
4) Swap Harddrive.
PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR STATIC - Touch the metel case when unpluging and reinserting anything to minimize any static.

Agak,

I can't rule out the possibility of hardware problem but want to be sure about it before doing anything.

1. Once this problem occurs, it wouldn't record even if the computer is not in standby mode.
2. This problem disappeared after I did a system recovery and reinstalled Giga Pocket (I had done this at least twice before.).
3. I noticed video files kept being created but never cleaned up in the Giga Pocket V5 folder when scheduled recording kept running. Did you see similar thing when running your V4 version?

Does it still sound like a hardware problem to you?

ckwan,

Sorry, I never saw this with v4.3
If you delete the recorded files in GigaPocket folder, does it work again?
Can it relate to a microsoft XP service pack update messing up your XP?
Could also still be a hardware issue.

Please let me know if you ever find out.

Agak,
I think I am going to give the v5 another try and if still doesn't work, I would have to try your v4.3. Do I need to uninstall the v5 before installing the v4.3? Any specific instruction for my case?

Fun with Vaio's
By the way, I ran the ENX-15 on a P3 500mhz, 256 ram with a ati graphics card w/8meg ram for over a year ok, until I replaced it with a P3 1ghz, 256 ram w/ on-board graphics and IT IS STILL GOING. Timer records every day. (Too bad no digital tuner).
I updated the zip for GigaPocket ENX-15 here:
h__p://www.megaupload.com/?d=BU4WC6CG

I also am posting DVGate 2 Plus w/HDV,MV and DV support for any who lost it. DVGatePlus2.0 HDV.zip here:
h__p://www.megaupload.com/?d=BLT8HYT6

Here are my drivers for MCE ENX-26. They are different than the ones used for GigaPocket.
h__p://www.megaupload.com/?d=6DTMIR5U

On my MCE ENX-26, Graphedit can be used to access the drivers. Works very fast to access and dump out a mpeg2 file from tuner or line in, rather than the dreaded Click to DVD software. Try and come up with your own graphs and post. Graphedit and graph file here:
h__p://www.megaupload.com/?d=6DKD9XQM

Please listen:
I am troubled by the talk of people recieving money for these files that a number of people have posted.
As per Sony license:
"Under this Agreement, Sony and it licensors grant you a limited license to use the program and accompanying online documentation for use only with the Sony products and not for resale."

If you own the Sony ENX- card, you should be entitled to have the files. Unfortunately Sony will only provide support for it's original configured PC's. And they are even out of the Desktop business now. (Except for maybe one high end model).

I have the first Sony Vaio (490) that came with Gigapocket, and at some point it simply stopped working. I'm running XP but I could revert back to Win ME but Gigapocket still won't work.
If I click the program to start I get a quick "out of range" message and the computer reboots. If I set the timer to record, it will. But if I view the recorded file with, let's say Windows Player all I see that was recorded was a red and white checkerboard and the audio is fine.
Somewhere I read Gigapocket doesn't function properly if the drives are not fat32. So I went backwards and reformatted to fat32. Didn't cure the problem. I used to get Gigapocket to run half way decent by resorting to the original video drivers/audio drivers that came with ME but I'd walk away and come back 5 minutes later to hear sound and a frozen vidoe frame.
It's a shame Gigapocket worked fine for me for about a year and then STB. I've read some of the posts here but nobody mentions the checkerboard screen. Maybe nobody tried renaming the extension so another app could play it.
I know if window media player updated from ver 7 I would have problems too with Gigapocket. But like I said, reloading the original recovery discs (containg ME) doesn't solve anything.
I suppose maybe if I was able to get my hands on a new 80GB drive... nah... probably a waste of time and effort and money ( if I could).

mark_d,

I think your card is bad. To Confirm, maybe you could plug it into a friends XP pc, load software and test it.
Gigapocket for WinME used fat32 and Gigapocket for XP uses fat32 or NTFS.
It's dependent on the operating system.

It seems only GigaPocket can access the rec modes.
I never could access ENX-15 with graphedit, except for playback. You can playback any video with the right codecs. AVI's, MPGS, MP4s etc.

I got Giga Pocket to work on my system, and hooked up the cable to the card and the soundcard, but I only get sound out of one speaker. I tested the cable, and if I rotate the end that goes into the PC, it can switch between the left and the right channel, but won't get both channels to work

Anyone have any ideas?
