I have a RS324 with a giga pocket card.
I have just installed vista on my pc and I can't get the card to work. If I look in device manager, all looks ok and the driver seems to be loaded ok. I am not using the gigapocket software but am trying to run it ther the Media Center of Vista.
When I try and start it, I get a message saying that there is no tv hardware available....
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Paul

TotalMedia3 and Sony ENX-26 card
If anyone is looking for a Substitute program instead of GigaPocket.
Arcsoft TotalMedia3 seems to work with ENX-26 Card.
TotalMedia3 is like Windows Media Center (except not all bloated,
typical of Windows programs). Works great with my ATSC USB HD tuner,
which it came with.
What I did:
1)
Installed new OS, XP Pro SP2
pc is Pentium 4, 3 ghz, 1 meg ram
Onboard Intel video (82915G/910GL Express Chipset Family)
Onboard Realtek audio
2)
Installed ENX-26 card
Used SMRT drivers installed from oem1.inf in drivers folder
(This is the Media center driver)
3)
Installed Arcsoft TotalMedia3
4)
Restarted pc and setup/scanned TV channels (Used an antenna)
It found all the NTSC channels plus channels that were just noise
that I edited out.
Viewing channels and recordings seems to work fine and in sync!!!
Arcsoft help ? doc is included in installation.
Uses the TitanTV built in channel guide.
Next I tried this on a old PC: P3, 500mhz, 256 mb ram w/ 4 mb ATI video
It works but video cannot be seen.(just blank) Tried newest ATI drivers.
Still records ok and can be played back ok though.
Needs a good video card for this to work.
Now I haven't used this for extended periods with the ENX-26,
but looks like a good alternative to try.
http://www.arcsoft.com/products/totalmedia/?l=v
15 day Trial version available
If it works for you, buy it.
Also fully working TotalMedia3 Lite version.(Does not burn DVDs)
Here (with oem1.inf ENX-26 drivers)

ok I installed the drivers for my en-26 and downloaded total media 3. Is there any way to play consoles with that? I've been trying without much luck. I'd download Gigapocket, but I'm using a computer I built myself, not a vaio.
Is there another program I could use to play videogame consoles with this TV tuner?

True, capturing w/external video input with TotalMedia3 is not in full screen. Can you try resetting tv channels unplug coax ant. and set for video input? I can't remember if it detects video input as the source for tv tuner like MCE.
I have not tried yet, but Cyberlink PowerCinema is another MediaCenter style program.
You maybe able to build a graph with graphedit to do it.
I'll give it a shot when I get back in a week.

Ok, here's my situation -
I have a RZ24G with an enx-15 card and all the original sony hardware, I got it from a friend and had to reinstall winxp to even get it running.
I installed WinXp Pro SP2 and all MS updates.
I then installed all the freaking drivers from Sony. Everything worked except video capture thru either 1394 or the enx-15.
I did install the recommended mpeg encoder driver from Sony and retained the disk partitions originally on the drive. The mpeg encoder dirver would install but then I'd get a bunch of 'unknown' hardware driver install requests.
I then found this thread and downloaded the megaupload file.
Hex-editted the file and installed everything in the sequence the file indicated.
Got this sequence of error messages during install and now whenever I run a gigapocket program although the programs do still run.
"SMBE VXD_createFile error"
"Cannot open driver. please exit other application using databas and restart this"
Device manager still showed the mpeg encoder driver and a bunch of 'unknown" hardware. So I deleted and reinstalled the sony mpeg encoder. Same problem.
I don't know if it's relevant but MS Movie maker sees no capture device and Adobe Premier can't find the 1394 either.
OK, so now my questions, lol -
Should I just throw the enx-15 out the window and install another capture card or does freaking Sony make it so that won't work either?
Any suggestions on how to fix this retaining the enx-15 ?
I'm really not all that interested in the TV aspect as I am in capturing from cams of various kinds and connections.
Thanks to anyone that can help!

Also
I have never found a program that can interact with the ENX-15 or 16 except GigaPocket. Gigapocket 4.3 was very stable and good for video conversion to DVD mpeg2.

Thanks much, lots of progress has been made now!
I loaded the drivers only that you provided in that megaupload and it solved my gigapocket problems. I can now capture video from my cams through the enx-15!!!
I'm still having a problem with 1394 capture, 'can't locate device' when I try that with the dvgate you provided or any other software.
The odd thing is when I turn a cam on connected to the rear 1394 connector(only cables I have), it doesn't popup the windows device found message that is typical on my other computers.
I have some driver in my device manager for a sdm-m810440071 that has a ? but says it's working properly. This is something on the NVidia graphics card and I'm wondering if that's the problem.
Once again, I appreciate your help a lot, was ready to toss this thing out the window, lol!

Off subject but why not.
Having worked with DV ilink for many years, windows XP Pro has never been a problem with 1394. Is there any problems with drivers in hardware manager?
Does the camera and cable work with other pc's?
If yes, borrow a 4 pin ilink cable and try front connector.
You can also test by networking 2 pc's together easily such as your desktop with a notebook pc through the ilink cable.

I don't understand what happened but I reinstalled all the 1394 drivers and the DV capture works fine now.
Thanks again for your help with the ENX-15, this gigapocket looks like a decent program for capturing video. Might take a while to understand all it's capabilities....

Hi,
I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Vista. Unfortunately the Windows Media Center on my Vaio (VGC-RA828G) is not recognizing the factory installed Tuner card (Giga Pocket® MPEG2 Realtime Encoder/Decoder board with TV Tuner). I called Microsoft and they tell me I have to go to Sony. I called Sony and they tell me to uninstall Vista and go back to Windows XP or wait for a driver to eventually come out.
So my questions is... Is there some other (preferably free) DVR software that I can now use on my newly Vista installed Vaio machine that will also work with my Tuner card (Giga Pocket® MPEG2 Realtime Encoder/Decoder board with TV Tuner)?
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!

ok - just did clean hard drive dump/replacement and upgraded to WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE. Everything works but Sony's MPEG Encoder...
It's recognized in the device manager (i tried to rip multiple drivers from sony - none work) but i can't get Windows Media Center to recognize the Tuner card and can't set up the TV. I tried to take Giga pocket off the original recovery discs but since that was XP it won't work. Called sony - they said wait 25-50 years and we'll get an updated driver out. Anyone have any solutions? Here's the specs:
MODEL - SONY VAIO PCV-RZ34G
RUNNING ON VISTA ULTIMATE
PENTIUM 4 - 2.8GHZ
1.5 GIGS RAM
32 BIT OPERATING SYSTEM
RUNNING 2 SIDE BY SIDE 160 GIG HARD DRIVES
If I need the TV Card #'s - let me know and I'll crack her open and yank the card....
As an FYI - it was fully operational before the wipe and O/S change.
thanks,
drew

agak, WOW this is amazing! Does this mean that Sony gave in?
The big question is do these work with MCE? Or is there a new version of Gigapocket that runs on Vista?
Also it is strange that Vista Ultimate is not compatible with any of the models on the list but Home and Home premium are.
Any idea what model MPEG cards these are for? Is there a way to tell? Probably ENX-26 or something since they are the newer ones.
