dreambox dm 500c
got a bad flash and cannot connect with pc at all to re-flash or flash delete or anything
no view on tv screen to set the boxes ip address
dreamup requires the ip address !!
filezilla also requires ip address !!!
can i ping or scan or search network connections to try and find out the ip address.
also looked at a thing called hellengman (or something) but its for the wrong type of box ....
can i do a force flash
anything at all......
anyone please

Sounds like you need a network port scanner. try nmap.org
nmap is a program that scans for open ports on a pc you probably just need it to do a ping sweep and see if you get back the ip address of your box
I don't have it installed at home but the options you want once you have your crossover cable connected and firewall off are something like
nmap -sP 192.168.0-255.0-255
it should come with docs and help so dont quote me on the exact syntax

Dreamup doesnt need an IP AFAIK. I have seen the IP box alright, but I never filled it in, I knew the boxes IP and it was different from the one onscreen.
My recent mistake with using dreamup was deleting a flash when I should not have on that particular image, it was a neutrino ultra image.
I did not know this at the time, my fix was flashing DW2.0 back on, then ftping the ultra software on.
But my mate has since used dreamup (also not using IP), and he flashed ultra on with no problems, just didnt erase the flash.

HELP tried to flash Commando9 to my Dbox2 and all appeared to go ok but now all I get on boot up is kein system. I presume it means no system from my little knowledge of German.
What do I do next

Do anyone know where i can get DreamUp V1.3.0.2 (DEBUG). I had it before but cant seem to find it. It was the only one that worked well for me. Thanks

You have flashed the wrong type image i.e. a 1x when it should have been a 2 x or vice versa. Use IFA (Image Flashing Assistent)which u can download from : http://www.hallenberg.com/freedownloads.php

A kein system can happen for many reasons, not always the 1x/2x thing. So if you flash and get a kein system do not presume your box is the other. e.g. if you flash a 2x and get a kein system do not presume the box is 1x
All nokias are 2x.
I wouldnt bother with commando myself, it was the only troublesome image I had during the manual updates. andromeda 2.0 is fine on all mine, and now the gbox transfer files are out so chirpy sagems are easily updated, no messing with codes manually. more info from Xenafan here http://forums.digitalworldz.co.uk/showthread.php?t=171426&page=7

chorus rolled but when i went to the keylist there was no line for today to change.
the last au line i have is from last night should i delete a line or something?. tried rebooting but there is still no line for today. anyone else same problem? knew this would hapen b4 da match :(
think my box has just given up
