hello every one,
I was trying to connect my Dbox2 to the pc to downlaod 7.bin on it, I have make step by step all what was written, my Dbox is connect with the cable, I plug the rj45 rooter, but when I look on my pc connection, there seems to be no connection, I'm sure that all the firewell are off, even the antivirus was off, but no connection.
I was even enable to click on repair the connection as it was grey.
I can't understand, do you think it's a technical problem on my Dbox, because, as I said, even when I try to make a scan, my Dbox doesn't detect any transponder.
any advice, I would like to look inside it, but not easy to open it, as I don't have the scraw driver for it.
I was doin all this:
First things first, Setting up the PC so that its ready to communicate with the Dbox
1. Open the Control Panel then go into Network Connections
2. You may have a few different connections so disable all of them with the exception of the
connection that you are going to use to communicate with the dbox.
3. Right click on the connection to be used and select "Properties"
4. If using Windows XP turn off the firewall by clicking on the "Advanced" tab, click "Settings"
under "windows firewall" then select "Off" then click "Ok" then click on the "general" tab
4b. If you are using another firewall then be sure to disable it or you won't be able to connect to
the Dbox. If you don't know how then stop here.
5. Double click on "internet protocol" to take you into the IP settings
6. Click "Use the following IP addess"
7. Type in 192.168.0.101 into the "IP address box
8. Type in 255.255.255.0 into the "Subnet mask" box if it is not automatically put in
9. Type in 192.168.0.1 into the "Default gateway" box
10. Click "OK" then "OK" again to save the settings
Thats the computer ready now its time to setup the DBox
1. If not already turned on, turn on the Dbox. If there is no image on the box or if "Kein System" is
showing on the display then move onto the IFA tutorial.
2. Once booted up press the "Dbox" button on the remote which on mine is 2 below the power
button
3. Select "Settings" from the menu that pops up on the screen (should be 4 from the bottom)
4. Select "Network" from the new menu (should be 6 from the top)
5. Select "IP Address" (should be 7 from top) and change it to 192.168.0.100 then press "OK" on
the remote
6. Select "Default Gateway" (3 below IP Address) and change it to 192.168.0.1 then press "OK
on the remote
7. The "Subnet Mask" (Below "IP Address") should be 255.255.255.0, if it is not change it
accordingly
8. Select "Start/Restart Network Now" (5th from top)
9. Select "Show Active Network Settings" (4th from top)
10. Go "Back" then click "Save Settings" to save everything.
Now that everything is set up its time to communicate with your dbox
1. Connect your Dbox to your PC via the crossover cable.
2. Open your "Network Connections" from the "Control Panel" of your PC
3. Right click on the connection you are using to communicate with your DBox and select Repair
(this simply refreshes the connection)
4. Open up Internet Explorer or Flash FXP or whatever program you are using to connect to the
DBox
5a. If using Internet explorer simply type FTP://192.168.0.100 into it. If asked, the username is
"root" and the password is meant to be "Dbox2" but it can be absolutely anything.
5b. If using Flash FXP click on the lightning flash then quick connect then type 192.168.0.100 into
the "Server or URL" box type in "root" as the username and "dbox2" as the password then click
"Connect"
so even when I try to connect to the flash FXP there is no connection.
help please.
I'm using the same router that I use to connect my pc to the internet box, so because I don't have an other one, so I took off the rooter from my internet box and I plug it on the Dbox2.
and in the same time, I took off the cable that was plug on the internet box and plug it again on the Dbox?
so I don't know if it's right.

Hi, I haven't needed to flash my dbox for 3 years now but it seems like I might have to do again now as its jammed!
can someone please tell me if I can flash it with only a cross over cable or will I need a null modem cable as well? also my pc doesn't seem to have anywhere where i can connect the null modem cable to, so will I be able to use a USB to RS232 adaptor? like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-2-0-TO-9-PIN-R...1QQcmdZViewItem
thanks

It looks like your network settings are wrong.
The whole thing depends on the method you connect your pc and the dbox.
If you use an router you should use dhcp.
If you use an crossover network cable for a direct connection both IP's have to be set manually and have to be in the same logical network. Same logical method means the first 3 number ranges in the IP must be the same at dbox and pc.

i am 99% positive that i had put the same settings in that had worked on mine, but i hae 2 network cards on my pc (1 is wireless) i am running vista ultimate and as soon as i connect the xover cable visa sets it up as a public network which gives it very limited connectivity , i think i may have to give it another go. if i get stuck i shall be back for more guidence !

set your box to these settings just check that they are correct as follows:-
Press dbox button on remote
Scroll to settings press ok
Scroll down to network press ok
In the menu you should have the setting of the dbox

Default gateway 192.168.1.1

set pc to 192.168.1.109
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.255
make sure you disable all other network conections and just use the local network conection, one done open ftp
host 192.168.1.110
user root
password dbox or dbox2 or if using commado image pass is commando
if still you cant connect you will need to flash with ifa, as password could be anything

It looks like soulefl is using an router and only for FTPing a normal patch cable for an router with enabled DHCP is good enough.
The magic words are enabled dhcp at the dbox and automatic at the pc.

Hope someone can help, I have a dbox2 with the image team commando 7.5
I believe I have downloaded all the up to date keys and also the files:
nagrarom7.bin
nagrarom10.bin
nagrarom11.bin
I have uploaded the files to the var/keys folder and update the file key.txt also I currently have the EMU is set to newcam and I am unable to get the free to air channels or the locked channels? I have tried setting the EMU to mgcam and also evocam with no joy. Every channel is coming up waiting for EPG, should I just reflash the box or is it the case of just updating a file somewhere?
Sorry if there is a solution in a previous post but I have spent around 5 hours trying to get the box working and it is still not playing ball.
