8. April 2005 @ 14:43 BelgianJ, that thread is 3 pages long. Which instructions exactly? The first original posting? Others have posted variations on those instructions. I'm sick of burning coasters for this game.
Goliath

The first instructions worked fine, no cd/dvdgen needed.

Good luck!

Dude you dont need DL.Just Re-build it burn it with Nero and play. I have a blue PS2 with swap magic and i use memorex -r. Never had a problem with any game (except gt4).I'm talking about PAL and not NTSC.

DL games run on PTP and DL burners burn on a OTP track so it is impossible to burn a DL game on a DL burner. And the Dvd rick patch works just fine for me.

ok.. i have sm version 2 dvd and 3.0 cd. I am trying to backup a PAL version of the game for use with PAL ps2. I have tried the patch, i have tried rebuilding (although got a little confused with the order of files as my isobuster shows an iso and udf. i just extracted the udf and organised the files in the same way with the udf portion at the end?!? my end file was the correct size but still freezes). i have tried every method listed and don't seem to get it to work. can someone using the same versions etc please tell me how they made their backup work. all the details, software and all.

Thanks

I've burned 6 coasters already. I used the patch, I tried Nero, I tried DVD Decrypter, I tried rebuilding the ISO, nothing works for me. I don't know if the patch is working for me. When it's done, the new file is exactly the same size as the original. But shouldn't it be different? Some people here said the new file is slightly different in size, which would make sense, because it's changing something, right? But why is mine the same size? Maybe the patch doesn't apply correctly? Any words of wisdom? Does anyone know exactly what the resulting file size of the ISO should be?

According to the first page of this thread, it should be reduced down to 1.8gb in size.

yeah, 1.8 GB if you try to rebuild the ISO with Isobuster. That solution didn't work for me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. There are too many options to burn a UDF/ISO hybrid (using Nero). I tried it twice. It seems to burn fine, but when it verifies the files, I get an error.

Anyways, I was asking about the exact filesize (in bytes please) for the patched ISO using DVDRick patch.

Hey Wulfie,i ripped the mercenaries iso using dvd decryptor and i got your patch, extracted it to the proper directory, renamed the iso to ptc-merc.iso, applied it, everything seemed to work perfectly. i ended up with a new iso called DRK-MRC.iso. the size is the same as the original iso (4,696,604,672) so i burned it at 1X using dvd decryptor on verbatim dvd+r's. i know this kind of media works for me, cuz i have done 40+ backups without a single problem. so it finished burning and i pop it in my v7 ps2 (which is chipped)(im not sure of which chip it is tho..a friend gave me the ps2 with the chip already in it, but i havent had a single problem yet) and it loads all the way to the lucas arts screen and hangs...any thing im doing wrong? any advice on how to fix this? if anyone knows a solution let me know please! i hope this is a good enough description of what i have done and what stuff im using. thanks a ton :)

you could always try booting with the dvdloader and going from there.

ps2 v7 with matrix infinity and 160gb hdd
pioneer a05 dvd-rw
Nero Burning Rom
Windows XP Pro
psp with 3.40oe-a custom firmware
Gamecube with SD Media launcher, SD Gecko, and Action Replay.

Hey everyone,

I have tyred all the ways of burning this game (PATCH,CD DVD-ROM generator, re-building) but i dont seem to be getting it to work!
I have swap magic 3.6 and im burning it with RITEK DVD-R's on 1x.
Ive been using multiple programs to burn it with NERO, DVD Decrypter etc. But still no luck.
Some work untill the lucas arts logo, some load only the menu but takes 10 minutes to actually load and some work normally untill you want to start a new game or load one! and if you press load on the menu screen nothing comes up and goes back to the beggining of the menu!!

I have the PAL version so anyone else using the PAL version and actually got it working please TELL ME IM GOING INSANE!!!!

I am having this problem on the original disk also. My backup did not work but then I tried the original and it won't load either. I looked at the disk it seems pretty clean no scratches. Anyone else having problems with the original disk freezing on the loading screen?
