If budget is important, get the first one. If you want more power, get the second.

I know that...but will the Mainstream Penryn be as cheap as the E6750? and faster? if so i'll go for the 1st build if not then i'll go for the 2nd...well i think it will be faster but don't know about the price...
hey have you check gamespot...they've got their hands on the Phenom X4 9900...but it's still not good enough...it beat E6700 and lower CPU's only...not the other Quads tho...
Nvidia is thinking of buying AMD and selling ATi?...oh this is getting interesting...

That won't happen. There would be a complete monopoly if nvidia owned ATi even for a brief amount of time, it wouldn't be allowed.
ATi have had all their R&D for 2008 shelved by AMD to reduce losses though, so they're probably not so chuffed about being under the AMD banner right now...

Hmm AMD is the one who should be cost cutting. The new HD 3800 series is pretty good for it's price.

AMD needs a marketing campaign. Look at Intel, PI, PII, PIII, P4, C2D. All had commercials. And their grip over the market is so bad that, at one point, some of my friends thought AMD was a cheap Intel clone with parts made in a Chinese sweatshop(seriously).

they (Phantoms) are not cheap. they are near £150, an they dont give the same performance as a £110 E6750.

and yet, the true Quadcores underperform....even in multitasking.

I'm guessing that's due to their architecture not because they are true quad cores.

Check this. I just got a newsletter from Nvidia for the 780i chipset. It features native 3-way SLI support.
No other news... but I won't give up my 680i until I see a Yorkfield CPU below $500.
EXERPT
Quote:
NVIDIA nForce® 780i SLI® media and communications processors (MCPs) are the must-have platform for Intel Yorkfield CPUs this holiday season. Maximize your rig's performance with 3-way SLI technology. Achieve ultimate control with the real-time component monitoring and tuning features of the first platform designed for ESA-certified components. And experience spectacular DirectX® 10 gaming with the best platform for GeForce® GPUs.
Also, my next platform will be Penryn if AMD can sort out the cache bugs and improve performance with BIOS updates.

yeah me too, and AMD must be "humiliated" some how, Intel have to delay 3 upcoming CPU's for AMD to have some room to catch up.

Not that it hasn't happened before, how about the later years of the Pentium 4 and the Pentium D?
AMD are no longer small enough to deserve sympathy as a smaller company.

well, what did Intel did, that widens that gap between AMD? and what happened to AMD itself? AMD used to be the "best" when Athlon 64 came out and now...
@sammorris your motherboard had a "C" so that means it supports DDR3, and the one without it don't, so what i'm asking here is that can you put a DDR3 ram in any slots? and how well does the E4xxx Overclock? will it be able to break the 3.0Ghz point with out breaking a sweat?

DDR3 is not backwards compatible with DDR2, you get 4 DDR2 slots and 2 DDR3 slots.
As for the E4300, it will overclock quite nicely to around the 3.2Ghz mark. The E6750 may be worth considering though, as you can get that to 4Ghz with good parts.

so i don't need to buy GA-P35C DS3R then, b/c i won't buy DDR3. I'm gonna buy an E4300/E4400, then overclock it to 2.8/3.0Ghz, that would be enough.
Oh i've asked this before if i have 2HDD, 1DVD-DL, 5/6 120mm+ case fans, 2 8800GTX, QX9770 and a motherboard that support all these will the OCZ GameXStream 600w be enough?

The E4300 and E4400 have been removed from the market, replaced with the E2160 and E2180.
With the components you mentioned, you will be drawing about 520W at full load. Not 600W, but I wouldn't trust a GameXStream to deliver that much. I'd upgrade to a 620W Corsair HX or a 750W PC Power & Cooling in that case.
Note: At that load level, any PSU is going to make quite a bit of noise!

what? removed? thats too bad, i thought i was still on the market because my friend just upgraded to E4400.
Oh my bad i mean the StealthXtream 600w not the GameXtream, as you know, can't get Corsair and PC Power & Cooling brand, is corsair that good the 620w is as good as the 750w of PC Power and Cooling? and about the noise level is it because it's getting hotter?

The E4400 still kicks around on some sites, but on the ones that are updated more often it's gone now, so it won't be around much longer.
As for the PSUs, I put the StealthXstream in the same boat. Good for most PCs, but not at huge loads. The noise level is indeed due to increased heat.
What brands can you get in SA other than OCZ? Can you get a Thermaltake Toughpower?
