The SLI/Crossfire branding is meaningless on a power supply, if it's got either it can support two video cards. I've no doubt some PSUs probably can even if they have't got either.

so it doesn't matter if it's SLI/Crossfire support, it can power any setup with 2 cards.
i don't know if i need that much power, cause i probably won't buy 2 high-end gpu's, i'll buy 1 only they're are quite expensive anyway, and the components i've mentioned it's just an example cause i want a psu that will be powerful enough to power anything in the future or for the next 2-3 years

There's always need to upgrade, you need to be willing to replace parts on a pretty much monthly basis if you always want to run things to the absolute max. If you're willing to settle for decent performance for a couple of years, just buy a single powerful graphics card like an HD3870 and you'll be fine. Crossfire never works properly anyway.

yeah, i would like to play everything on max, but thats impossible for me tho, on high is good enough for me, really. exchange the QX9770 to a Q9300/Q9450/Q9550 cpu and a HD3870, i think the StealthXtream 600W will be good enough for it, what do you think...to be honest, it feels like i'm running away or not accepting something here, but i don't know what it is...

Not accepting a better PSU probably lol. The Stealthxstream would probably be fine with that reduced arrangement, but to be on the safe side I'd go with a Corsair, even if it's only a 550W VX model.

Yep. Seriously, I highly recommend you get a Corsair imported. The VX models aren't even that expensive.

Yeah I got a VX550 for 75 USD. Where you live it's probably a bit more expensive, but it's a good PSU. Only thing I don't like about it is that it is not modular.

yeah thats why my head is getting big, don't know which psu to get, the only good ones are like thermaltake and well...um...OCZ thats it AND these are from the online shops, if it's the local shops, Oh God help them that they have it.
Import, huh, well Neweeg apparently don't ship internationally, BUT i'll try asking one of the local shop if they could get it for me. 50% chance, they would have it but crap expensive and the other half is that they don't have it.
and Sam is right if i could get it here, i would've got it already.

You could arrange to import one yourself. Get an international courier to receive it and send it to you. That wouldn't be cheap, but hey.
The Toughpower units aren't bad.

If you want a high output PSU, get the Toughpower 750W. Mine has served me very well and I can't think of any reason to replace it quite yet :)

Grrr, shuddup lol
No, really. I would have been fine with any good 500W but I wanted high power to make sure I did not stress my PSU in ANY conditions. I would even be happy with my Enermax Liberty 620W in this system as it is far more than enough for me.
As far as I'm concerned, my AMD build has gone on the back burner. I'm using it as a storage server right now and to play all my Valve stuff. If at all possible, it will be the base for a Penryn system soon. If performance is good enough, I will swap out the guts to my Thermaltake Armor and put the Intel into the Sunbeam Silent Storm case.
RAM, PSU, and video card will all be moved into the AMD.

Shipping to South Africa from the US would probably cost around 25-30 dollars.
P.S. I just got an HDMI cable from newegg! I want to see how HD movies look.

Hey guys, I'm scared that my AOpen 450w psu won't be enough to power my new computer E2180, GA-P35 DS3R, 2 HDD, 1 DVD-DL, 7600GS 256Mb and OCed CPU, not planning to get the psu first, really need a new computer that runs without having a problem

I don't think I've ever heard A-open being praised as a good PSU. I don't know I would stay away from it. I just witnessed a a PSu blow a motherboard, cpu, and harddrive so I'm more afraid of that now.

Well, it will probably have enough power, but it will only be able to deliver it while it's on fire. AOpen is the only brand of power supply I know to have literally caught fire whilst running a PC.
You'd be incredibly foolish to upgrade your PC without getting a decent PSU first. ALWAYS make the PSU the first priority, or that PC's going to seem pretty damn expensive when you destroy most of the parts, or maybe even your home.

lol, fire psu, that sure is something, i guess i'll buy the psu first, but then i'll have to wait for another 2 - 3 months before i can get my computer...
man i'm angry with myself for not buying a decent psu in the past, other wise i don't need to worry about it now.
well, thnx to you guys, i know more about PSU...

You MUST buy a decent PSU before proceeding. I can't state how important that is.
With some other brands I may sometimes make exceptions, but AOpen sit right at the bottom of my quality list due to theone's fire incident. I would never recommend using one to power any PC, let alone a high powered gaming rig.

I agree with sammorris. If you want to make sure your PC is safe, get a better PSU. AN OCZ unit will do nicely, but maybe a Corsair or Thermaltake would be better if you have the funds.
