I haven't used Eclipse but my housemate Paul has. The service from them was so appalling neither of us will ever be ordering from them again. No item, phone lines don't answer, emails take a week to respond and were thoroughly unhelpful. Why were we contacting them? They sent us the wrong item...
Aria have once sent Paul a wrong item as well, but he got hold of them instantly on the phone and they sent another one out to him which arrived in 2 days.

I used them a i think about 10 times last year without problem, they are better than they have been in the past, I think companys tend to sort things out nowadays, as a few slatings on well chosen forums can cost them trade :) overclockers are the most tedious company i have ever had to deal with, and dolphin music in liverpool, their customer service is crap, but theyre one of the biggest pro music suppliers in the uk, and i think its gone to their heads lol.

Parts are all ordered went with aria as they had a few other bits I slapped on for a mate, so fingers crossed should turn up saturday, so maybe by sunday should have it all running all hunky dory silentish unsure how loud the 3870 will be but i dare say the soundproofing in the case should knock a hell of a lot of the noise out.
Will run some benchies at stock 2.6ghz,2.8ghz,3ghz & 3.2ghz
to see how the graphics scales with cpu speed.
I expect the benchies will be around tuesday / wednesday time. now i just have to decide on which os to install as you can unlock alot of the dx10 on xp by editing files in games, not looking forward to a vista future lol :o)

The 3870 is not a noisy graphics card, unlike the 8800GT. That won't be the problem.
You paid for saturday delivery? Good show, that costs an absolute fortune, but it's what I did for my PC though...

just remember experiences are not fact. like my crap with scan has been horrible, but they have been nothing but superb for other people, and OcUK have been crap for you, but for me flawless.

To be pedantic, experiences are fact, but represent a small minority. I don't know anyone who's had a majorly bad experience with Aria or Specialtech.

I used Eclipse computers a couple of times. And the suck, dont respond to emails for about two weeks no answer on phone lines, items (both times) damaged, there actual lines are pretty crap aswell as their systems. The only time i got through to them was when they phoned me asking about my payment ha!
In other new :)
I recently brought a new system from Ebuyer, top company, spent about £1000 plus with them now, never any problems, i even added up all the components i brought with them on other companies and it was £50+ cheaper :)

Ebuyer are prone for having stuff arrive one or two days late, but apart from that they're not bad, they're very cheap (usually they're only beaten often by Scan), while they're website's not great it's liveable, and their tech support do actually answer calls... eventually!

hey guys i have noticed that most of crossfire/Sli mobo have 1x PCI-E x16 and 1 x PCI-E x4? why won't that be slower compared to 2x PCI-E x16? I just wanted to know

It will indeed. The top end SLi boards have a double bandwidth chipset so they can run 16x and 16x together. A lot of boards will typically have 16x but share it between the slots (16x if you use one, 8x for each if you're using both). It's another of the downsides to dual graphics.

so there is a difference, that sucks then why bother having dual gpu, since it won't be running a full speed...don't get it, but if having high end pc then it's quite good like this one:

how much do you guys give for this board? I give it 8.5/10

btu if your going dual GPu, you'd obviously have a high end mobo, aka x38, for xfire. which has two 16x lanes

Well that's good so I don't need to get a X38 chipset board now. That should have me about 70 bucks lol.

I just looked it up and the conclusion is DON'T USE THE 4X PCI-E SLOT!
Originally posted by Toms Hardware:

When using an x8 connection, performance also decreases, albeit only by 7 to 8 percent.

Hmm, maybe this affects newer graphics cards. The X1900XT takes a 25% performance hit in a 2x slot, and a 5% hit in a 4x slot. I suppose the amount of bandwidth used really has gone up in the new generation.

As cards get more powerful they also use more bandwidth. That's why PCI-E 2 was needed. Sure no cars use all 16x of bandwidth but we're getting there.

Of course, in a BUDGET PC thread, Crossfire/SLI should be academic anyway.
