that controller? pushed back release date...minut spec details...
i think nintendo has destroyed any chance of recovering in the console wars. Its sad, i cut my teeth on Super Mario Bros. became competitive at bomberman, and shot my first gun on duck hunt.
its kinda sad, but on another note...
<inside the Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft meeting>
<microsoft>- we want mario, hands down, we need it. We have a Halo Mario in development already, in return you can take the "Kart" series
<sony>- How about this, U can gain exclusive rights to Mario, While we gain Exclusive rights the Mario CAST <ie luigi, princess>
<Nintendo>--*sigh*
<m>--We can accept that, with the exception of Donkey Kong, You already currently have an ape(escape), we really need to expand the primate market.
<s> deal.
<M> now, On to the Zelda franchise...you currently hold the market with FF franchise, to prevent a backlash you should....
oh brother...

Where did you get that info from? Even if Nintendo decided not to make consoles anymore, they wouldn't sell off their franchise characters. They still could manufactor games (Sega). Remember. Need some proof.

it was meant as a <SOON TO COME> type of thing...
like when nintendo folds, what happens to the franchise titles, what console get the rights..you know, the whole "relative died, now fight over the inheritance" thing...
jus a goof off buddy, calm down.

Hey u guys are crazy, did u people read watch G4TV the people making these game we play are saying how good a job nintendo has done to create a new controller that will work with 3D games we play now.and are u forgetting that it will fit in a shell with more buttons so we can play live 07, madden 07, and splinter cell. if that controller is a bad thing nintendo has done, why has microsoft say that they love how the controller works with games and how it looks and feel. how much u want to bet that xbox3, ps4 try and come with something new and refreshing to the table. its time we change how we play games, everybody in all these threads keep talking about power and graphics. if u don't like the game play to a game, then what. it may not have good gameplay but it looks amazing. BS. u guys need to look at the controller more. the DS has less power than PSP, but the DS sells more because of something new to the table and once again great fun with GAMEPLAY PEOPLE. NOT AMAZING GRAPHICS.

you really need to stop talking now.
ds isnt outselling the psp..not at all...
More than 185,000 were sold in its first four days in UK shops, say official Chart-Track figures.
Five million PSPs have been shipped by Sony since its launch in Japan late 2004 and in the US in March this year. Sony says it expects to ship 13m by March 2006
Rival handheld, the Nintendo DS, sold 87,000 in its launch week in March.(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4218320.stm)
so dont give me that. not at all. Not ever.
as for the controller...If i owned a rival company, and they released something as cockeyed as the new remote control, i would laugh, call sony, laugh together, then tell the press about how "oh darn, i wish we had that..Muffled laugh"
dont get me wrong, i dont want to bash nintendo, i had really hoped for success on this console, but its not going to happen. I refuse to use a remote control to play video games. and the majority of gamers will backlash.

I was planning on selling my gamecube bc im so sick of it just sitting in my room collecting dust. I was gunna play the new zelda game and then get rid of it but since they delayed the game till april i have to keep it. Zelda is the only thing nintendo has left. Sure the revolution might be a big hit, but only if the majority of gamers like it better then the xbox 360 or the ps3 bc chances are most ppl will have bought one or the other by the time the rev is released. One other note, the rev controller is,well, interesting. I just dont get why nintendo is focusing on the controller when they should be worrying about the console, and most importantly, the games for the revolution! It all comes down to what games are on a system because thats why u buy the system, for the games!!!

gsuscrazy,a lot of people here at afterdawn cry there eyes out when sony showed the boomerang controller for ps3. now that sony shows everyone the graphics no one is crying over the controller. it like they like the new one sony made, now that they see the amazing graphics they don't care what sony put in there hands. so can u tell me way sony changed the thing, from the ps1,ps2. cause if its not broke don't fix it right. i love my ps2, and nintendo and if one company can change how we play games to make it better and more enjoyable, im all for it. i guess when nintendo show there amazing graphics everyone will forget the controller just like they did with the ps3 controller.

What everyone forgets when they predict the death of Nintendo is that they are the only one actually making a profit.
Sony PS2 division - 2nd quarter 2005 - $53 million loss
Microsoft Xbox division - 2nd quarter 2005 - $179 million loss
Nintendo - $123 million profit
http://videogames.yahoo.com/newsarticle?eid=385965&page=0
According to Forbes, the Xbox has lost over 4 billion dollars since launch.

I think PS3 will kill itself..I was actually looking forward to playing the Ps3 and buying one, but now , now way. Its just aking too long, controller looks like a peice of shi*, Sony uses bad hardware (ex: laser), and a bunch of other stuff. Look at microsoft, they use top of the line hardware. THe onl.y new thing in the ps3 is better graphics and faster loading. I bet you that the first version of the ps3 will have a faulty laser. I bt you the second version will have one too, same with the 4th. 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and so on... Nintendo uses good sh** in thei systems too. I mean every nintendo system was perfect (hardware wise), I mean nothing failed (ex: laser, fan, and etc...). The Ps2 had so many problems, like laser, then the fan problem (in version 12-13). The only problem the xbox had was the fan breaking (the first few vresion), but then they fixed it, and the only bad thing left was the size of the system itself.
sooo....
NINTENDO REV: GOOD
XBOX360: GOOD
PS3: AVERAGE (probably going to have A LOT of problems)

I will tell any Nintendo doubet exactly what I told The guys in the "Why Nintendo is going to fail" thread. Nintendo isn't going to fail because it makes a lot of money. stats here are probably off a couple digits so have mercy. Nintendo's GC ended with around 30% net. X-Box with all that hardware and units sold ended up losing money. I think they finished with like a 13% loss because of all it took to manufacture and develop. PS2 only had 8% loss. Remember this is Net so it's after all the things have been subtracted.
Sorry Xian didnt' see you already pointed this out.

What are you stupid?
First off Shipped is not the same as sold, sony has shipped 5 mil, nintendo has Sold more DS's than that.
Second World-wide the DS has the lead, UK is not the world no matter what you may think.
Finally the PSP's release week beat the DS's release week yes, but the DS has been out for far longer and has sold much more than the PSP's 185,000
Also as for Nintendo's future, they make money Sony and MS lose money, anyone can tell you its better to make than lose.

Nintendo always make they'er money, microsoft and sony, i think loose money because its cost them to much to make one console. if they just keep to playing games and not dvd movies mp3, ipod, internet, hooking up 2 hdtv's and all this other stuff we don't really need. i have a cd, dvd ipod player, i just want to play games on them. and thats what nintendo do. i want the ps3 but if its going to be 500 dollars i'll get the 360 to go with my revolution.

I'm glad a few people pointed out that nintendo is the only company actually making a profit. Obviously, they aren't going to die. The number of consoles sold has little to do with it, becuase their production prices are different. Also, Nintendo has said themselves they are not trying to compete with XBOX360 or PS3. They are making a less expensive console to attract non-gamers and get gamers who already have a 360 or PS3 to buy the revolution as a secondary system. I actually think the controller is a big deal and could change a lot of things. If you read the opinions of any major videogame-related website, company, developing studio, etc... they all are very curious and even excited about the controller. We will have to wait to really know whether it ends up just being a gimmick or truly changing how we play games, but most people have high hopes and expectations for it. Because Nintendo makes less expensive systems, they make profit, which allows them to take risks like this. They believe they will attract people who currently don't play games, which would expand their audience by quite a bit. Really, Nintendo isn't trying to compete with the other next generation systems, so they shouldn't be compared.

nintendo won't die that easily. they pretty much started the game industry and they will continue to have heavy influence over where it heads. sony and microsoft can duke it out to make the best integrated home entertainment box, but nintendo will do what it does best - make great game consoles.

wow, im shocked...so much love for nintendo.
as for DS vs. PSP...i wont buy either, but i detest the DS, as do most of the gamers i know.
Nintendo Rev. outside of this site, no one is giving it a second thought in the Video game wars.
you all are screaming, OOOOO THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES MAKING MONEY OOOOOO OOOOOO OOOOO "
well, larger companies (mS, Sony) CAN take losses, they have additional monies coming in. hmm...what is microsoft known for again, theres the xbox, hmm..what else...something with computers maybe? oh thats right there are THE software giant. Sony, they...they have those fancy schmansy tvs,cd players, entertainment centers, speakers, amps, car cd players...hmm...nintendo has...video games....
sony and MS will chase Nintendo from the scene. they already have given up the major strongholds, fps and Sports games, (anyone play live 06 on the NGC? its ASS compared to XBox) they do kid games, they do hokey games, and think about this...kids...
nintendo came out...EVERYONE was on it, it was THE system to own
Super Nintendo came out, and could hold its own vs. Sega, but lost alot of gamers.
the N64 came out..BLEGH...no one here can defend that EXPENSIVE system. Sony Came Out and DOMINATED the 64 by the end of the generation...by now, sega and its failings (32x, sega cd) was on its last leg, brancing into a "REVOLUTIONARY" new system (sound familiar)
then sega gets pushed out from the scene, when PS2, XBOX, and NGC hit the market. PS2 dominates, but sees many action gamers leave to MS. NGC loses more gaming ground on NGC systems, although posting profits due to CHEAP production, and lower costs, they shift game focus to younger audience, cancel entire lineups of games, and A sports franchise completely abandons them. Nintendo focuses on NGC GBA compatible playing, while other systems focus on new engines for games to run better on their respective platforms.
now, with the XBox 360, followed by the PS3, then lastly followed by the REV. they will fall fate to the same wrath of sega, investing substantial funds into Next Gen gaming, only to finish DEAD LAST in sales, and exposure. Its alot to do with the crappy games, (other then franchise staples, mario, zelda etc.) and annoying kiddie graphics on to many games....and as for the casual Nintendo fan (as i consider myself) they will push them away, i will be a XBOX360 gamer, and if i want to play some mario, they are telling me i need to use a remote control, thats so goofy lookin? CHECK PLEASE!
thats all im sayin, if you want to disagree, go ahead, mostly thats all the little 12 yr olds do around here anyway..
"the earth is round"--unless your at afterdawn, because here, someone disagrees to simply...disagree.
thats my story and im stickin to it..and to those who sat and read ALL that i wrote...dear lord, get a hobby.

Yeah Sony and MS sure have alot of money, yup, which so OBVIOUSLY makes them teh better manufacturers. B/c we all know what makes a CO what it is, how well the Co can take losses.

to my critics, hush.
my comments about profits, have a point, yes, you can make an inferior product, charge less and make gains, thats common sense, but what happens is for every 1 person that buys an inferior product, they lose 2 potential buyers. thats business 101, if you are looking for longevity, inferior at lower cost isnt a sound financial model, even if you DO post profits (albeit most PROFITS came from game licensing, not hardware, so suffice to say those profits would still exist, even if Nintendo dissolved, they would enjoy the monies from their franchises.
as for my saying MS and Sony CAN take continual losses and still proceed to stay ahead of the curve, is that they can fund their projects from OVERALL COMPANY EARNINGS which DWARFS Nintendo. Why would they do that? because he who can withstand the heat, stays in the kitchen as the only cook left..get it? ...no..didnt think you would, let me explain in terms you can understand
sony=45% market share for 3rd gen system
MS= 40% market share for its 2nd gen system
Nintendo=15% market share for its 5th Gen system
thats an accurate prediction of the market, correct? (No, im sure someone will argue that Nintendo owns 200%market..its the internet, what do i expect)
that is down from the 20 something percent of the Gamecube, the 30 something percent from the 64, and assumingly 60 percent of snes, and 80 percent on nes...
thats called a gradual decline of revenue. to combat this, they dont carry as many expensive 3rd party titles, they reduce the hardware, and rely on the faithful franchise gamers...but what happens when MS and Sony continue to put out superior products, reducing Nintendo share to the TEENS, then to the Single digits,...get it?
I remember when dinosaurs roamed the land
I remember when thinkin the earth is flat was cool...
