Well M$ does have rare, pretty good to have on your side. PGR racing too.

I don't think that graphics will matter all that much this time round. I don't know if any of you guys have a 360 but I do. And teh graphics aren't all that much better than the xbox's. I was sitting there and thinking "Nintendo can make this jump, it's not all that big. But most importantly make the jump for much less.

yea, the graphics arnt that different between xbox and 360. But the difference between ps2 and ps3 will be a great difference.

Knowing that ps2 was like half of xbox.(in graphics)
And ps3 a **tad better than 360**

I think graphics play a huge roll in this gen.

It seems that video games in the states are becoming more and more nerdish/geekish than ever. I remember when I was little everyone played some type of game or another. I hope Nintendo's new console brings a little more fun back into video games, because it really is getting boring. the 64 was the last system I could really just sit there with friends for 6 hours straight and game. I've had great times with the ps2, gamecube, and xbox, but i never played for hours on end. i got close with the original halo, but honestly I have more fun playing starcraft on my computer than any game out there.
A little off the subject, but has anyone seen dell's new gaming machine? yep. sort of makes the ps3/360 discussions seem obsolete.

Um, not sure if you guys talked about this but Nintendo is using Displacement Mapping for the Revolution.

"Displacement Mapping enables a low-polygon model to appear of much higher quality by wrapping the object in a displacement mesh. Obviously, such a system has the potential to assist the Revolution in producing graphics appear comparable to those of a machine cranking out high polygon objects."

Here's the website i got it off of http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computera...)id=132426

and here's the patent for it

Why are people commenting on the revs graphics. They already said they wont compete with ps3, but the graphics will still be very nice.
Remember that they want an affordable consol.
All we know is that the GPU is made by ATI. (same for t he 360)

a lot of people forget that game distributors play an important role on how a game system is sales. If Namco makes a game only for PS2, and it sucks; then blames Namco fr nt making an entertaining game, not sony. Graphics also play an important role. The game system will have to be able to run the high end graphics, but it really does makes a difference when u have better 3d graphic designers making the game.

So i just hope the Revolution will have more game companies like namco, sega, and capcom making great game titles.

But anyway, Nintendo is here to stay. It's not dying by a long shot

hakkz, your words cause me pain. How could something so great as any Nintendo Character, be sold to another company? We all know it happened to Sonic, ex:Sega. But That wouldnt happen to the the company they lost to!

I know you all know it. Deep inside, there is a calling. Calling you back to your roots like a mezmorizing tune that summons you back into the past. When games were simple and fun, and Had you going back to them.

This calling is what Ninendo is depending on. If you dont have this calling, then you have been truly turned by the evil ways. Evil ways that lead you to thinking that killing and violence and sexual images are the way of games.

Games of the next gen (ps3,360) are yes, dumb enough, focusing on graphics. My point is, if you want realism, then you already have it. LOOK OUTSIDE!

I think I really am repeating myself, I shouldnt have to, Am I the only one who sticks up for their heritige!?!

The calling also tells me that great things are in store. And with that, great sorrow for all of those who blindly put their faith into a far, far, less machine.

I was born with Nintendo, Its what I've stuck with, and I stay happy and entertained.

You're not the only one. I'm a nintendo bitch also.

Nintendo needs an ad campaign in the US that makes all 360/PS3 owners look like nerds, and all Revolution players look like normal people. I want to make one with some friends and release it on the internet. Then have it sweep the nation and ultimately save the video game industry. It's been in decline since 1997.

Oooo I just thought of something, what if Nintendo thought really far out of the box, and instead of focusing on graphics, changed the controls, and the SOUND, I saw it with the DS, Surround sound?! Really. I'm tellin yall these guys can think. Just wait.

I'll probably get one eventually, after the price has dropped; as it always does with Nintendo stuff.

I have to admit, though, I'm not a big fan of that controller... can't understand what made them come up with that. I'm hoping that after a while, Nintendo releases an alternative controller that's more like the Gamecube's layout and button configuration.

Nintendo have always been a leader in the market of consoles and games. Think of all those PS1 owners who drooled when they first set eyes on a 64. It was worth the wait. I recently saw Mario 64 and Zelda 64 make it onto one "all time top 10 games" list. Now the PS1 sold way more than the 64. Did you hear any 64 owners complaining though? No ! What did they care ?, they had the better system !

Did those 64 owners drool when the PS2 came out. Nope. Why ? Cause they knew the game cube would kill it graphics wise when it eventually came out (and it did). And how were the games on the GC?, excellent of course !

Microsoft lost 4 billion dollars buying into the market and ended up selling the same number of units as the GC. I find it ludicrous that anyone would call the XBox a success if they judge success by pure revenue. The XBox was a good system though, and like the Game Cube, it deserved to sell more units.

Now we have the prospect of an entirely new approach to game playing coming out. You get to move a controller around in the air as if it was a light sabre and people are dissing it ? And before they have even tried it out as well ! Ive read comments about how things should stay the same. Again, this blows my mind. There are atari 2600's available on ebay for these kind of people. This really is flat earth mentality at work.

So now people are predicting the fall of Nintendo eh ? a company that has not lost money on a single console in 20 years ! So are you blown away by the XBox 360 ? I'm not. Now I AM eager to see what Sony comes out with. It does look like its going to be incredible BUT I will also be taking a very strong look at the Revolution. Nintendo's track record should speak for itself.

That'll be okay, if you can turn it off when you don't want it. Personally, I'm wary of having to hold the thing completely still for however long on end.

It might be cool if you could actually use the controller in a SW game, where you can actually try manipulating lightsaber combat by flicking it around... though you'd really need alot of practice prior to being able to do it properly... plus a VR-style helmet would be much easier to do that with.

I get your point re long periods of use. I don't want tired arms either. I also hope Nintendo live up to their tradition and do offer a different type of game playing. If they do I'll probably be buying both the Rev and PS3 (I'll probably have to resort to prostitution to pay for it).

As for a VR headset, now your talking ! Surely the Revoltion will be fast enough to support this.

This time try it with the blast shield down. Relax your conscious self and rely on instinct (sigh)

Nintendo is a company with OVER a 100 years in the entertainment bussines. They have seen their best and their worst. They also had great competitors and have been the less popular in the market, but they still keep up fighting the good war. They always get the new stuff, and always has been critized, but in the end, their innovations become standar. Maybe this is just another fase. But in the meantime remeber Nintendo" roughly translates as "leave luck to heaven" or "in heaven's hands"......

the future will tell, in the mean time, suck on the present

what nintendo is trying to do now ,is what sony did with the psx back in the day ,trying to reach a different people outside the gaming world.

i remenber when i was in school playing my nes-sega genesis, everybody said video games are for kids ect.
then psx came alone with mature games like resident evil, tomb raider, silent hill, metal gear and alot of sport's games too and cool racing games like gran turismo ,ridge racer ect.

now alot you see alot of grown people palying games at target or ebgames.

nintendo is now trying to do the same ,it's doing that with the ds ,that tamagochi dog game and the like's like trauma center.

if nintendo get's it right then they will get them selfs a big piece of the pie,
i dont think the revomote is going to help though it's a really over rated gimmick in my book, i think the idea of an eyetoy back in year 2003 when sony announced it was far more complex then revomote, but ok we will wait and see , for now it's just another gimmick like the recing wheel for gt4 or the gun for re daed aim ect.

''As for the Revolution, what has Nintendo ever done to make you think anything will be different? I know the controller will rule, it will have Zelda, and I most likely won't be bitching about a defective laser and returning it within the first year. Score Nintendo.''

oh come kid .do you really think that a montion censor revomote is going to come out perfect right out box on of lunch. if one console is going to have the most bugs it's that revomote, that's my take.

kid?? lol, I'm 30 years old. And I'm saying that based off of Nintendo's reputation. Nintendo has never put out a defective product, and have had the cleanest console launches of all the systems, that is just a fact. You never read about people returning defective Gamecubes, or N64's, or SNES's. Ever read a furor about an extreme amount of faulty DS's??

Nintendo's track record breeds them that respect.

Dorian has got a point. A lot of bad things are said about Nintendo, but making defective products isn't one of them.

ok, i know not many people will read my post, like many people dont read any of the new post on this threads, all i have to say is ill buy a new nintendo, but all i need is the fun i had before, let them release a nintendo with all and i mean ALL of the old games included in the basic game,( i have them all in roms) and ill get one,´cause i like em, all of gb, gba , nes, snes n64, etc, and thas good enough for me, then they can start selling me new games, but first, for the price of the console, maybe 500 bucks gimme all the oldies included, everything else is a bonus.

well then in reply to that maybe microsoft and sony should starting using new idea's ( and by new idea's i mean innovation). At least nintendo is breaking from the normal 20 year old controller that everyone thought was a good idea and started using. If it weren't for nintendo you'd probably still be using the Atari joy stick

I'm guessing that every thing that lives, dies. All the companies will die...eventually. However, we can't decide when it will die. Maybe instead, it will sell off all its assets. Or maybe it will go down flaming like a proud kamikaze. Nobody here knows, for sure. You just have to wait and find out. I think people will just buy what system they were raised on...What system hits home with them. Nintendo has a lot of money and will probably quit when they want. Microsoft has more money than god, but this topic isn't about them losing billions. Forget about Nintendo dying, and discuss what is happening NOW!
