hi. i'm having a problem with the loading of the dol file and the games onto the gamecube. i'm running win xp and i run- command prompt/dos - to get to the dos screen and when i try psul -s for psul or psoload -s for psoload it says that they aren't recognized as an internal or external command. are my commands right? with psoload 2.o i got a dol file to load by dragging it over the exe file but that didn't save any information on the memory slot and now it doesn't load the dol's either way. the properties show that the pc and the gamecube are connected. ip for the gamecube is 192.168.1.32 and the ip on the pc is 192.168.1.100. it worked before but i messed around with the ba speed in the starcube preview edition and then on the nic and now it doesn't work. thanks in advance to anyone that helps. check out http://cgfm2.emuviews.com/gc/psotut.php it got my network started the first time.

About my Fatal Error #2 message. If you do get this, shut down your gamecube. leave the lid open, put in your original, turn on the gamecube with the lid still open, and the menu will appear. once you've installed your backup, you can close the lid, and everything will be fine. For some reason, that Fatal Error #2 will show up from time to time if you have the lid closed, while turning on the gc. Just follow what I mentioned and you'll have no problems.
I also found 2 other, very minor issues.
Right now, I'm running cobra's 4.0 bios. I've noticed with my wireless controller, you can't access rumble features in games, rumble will not work for wireless controllers, as of yet i assume. And, the other thing, after about 2 1/2 straight hours of gameplay, the system losses sync with the disc, and an error message appears, in which you'll have to shut down the gc, and reboot your backup. This has happend on several occasions with my Metroid Prime backup. Of course, there are no other games that I wish to sit around and play for 2 1/2 hours, to see if this does that same thing to them. Also, I highly suggest you get the Memorex 5pack mini dvd-r. I've never had one single problem with those discs.

Well I for one believe him. I believe it can be done. Nintendo has not made an pirate proof system. And when this comes all out in the open then you'll see. And on top of that I'm not going to insult someone tring to help either! I've dealt with video games all my life. I've managed my own game store. I've modded over 20 Xboxes for my friends without a modchip. I've pretty much seen it all! There's a flaw with every system, and it's only a matter of time till people exploit it. The only reason the GC hasn't been hacked the way the PS2 and Xbox have been, is because the scene doesn't seem to be interested in the GC. Dreamcast was majorly targeted because it was the first *Next Gen* console. PS2 was targeted because it was the next PlayStation, and the Xbox was majorly targeted because the scene knew they'd have lots of fun with the harddrive! The GC was nothing special. It's in the last place for this console war. Hence why it's only now really starting to get pried at. That plus the fact that Nintendo did their best at proventing piracy, so they never really paid much attention to the GC. But now that the modchip is out all that's going to chance.

If the onely thing I want to do is simply make a copy of data on the memory card and that's it, do I need any other software aside from ctr-gcs?

Yeah dante, i agree with everything u said. There must be a possible exploit of some sort. I reckon its just a matter of time. Hopefully fartdude will be giving us an update of how his mate's managed it. I was thinking that he may have made his own dvd writer firmware or image patching software. The thing that makes me doubt it is, that the info hasn't been shared and a lot of people with experience of advanced ripping and patching haven't managed it. Might be a software leak from nintendo that people are keeping hush about for specific reasons. Anyway unless its not publicised in the next few months im gonna get a viper when their slightly cheaper.

(Opps, ment to reply publicly, but somehow did it private 1st time around. Doh! Lets try again here now. :) )
@Fartdude
Let me explain something how the gamecube works so you can understand why many people are skeptical of what you said.
Gamecube has two primary methods of protection. One is a propriatory data format for the mini DVD's. The other is BCA encoding.
The propriatory data format is easy enough to get around. Any skilled hacker & programmer can create a firmware for their drive to read/burn it. It could also be copied by professional disc duplicators. Not a big deal.
The BCA encoding however is another matter. This is where a seperate burning machine overburns a barcode onto the media just before and partialy overlapping the disc lead-in. It's not a circular burn like the data, but across the disc from the center straight out. There is NO dvd burner in existance that can burn a BCA, it requres a special BCA machine. Without this BCA barcode, the gamecube will not recognize the disc as being valid and will not boot it.
For your friend to make a burned and bootable on non-modded equipment GC disc would require:
Him using a nintendo special recorder, copies of the original disc or iso's, and access to a BCA machine.
Him using a professional disc duplicator, copies of the original discs, and a BCA machine.
Him using a hacked dvd burner, copies of the original discs or iso images, and a BCA machine.
No matter what the case, it requres access to specialized and expencive equipment that 99.999999999% of the people on this planet do NOT have access to.
Not saying it's not possible. Maybe he does have access to a BCA machine. There are a hand full of people in the world that do, and I'm sure they have friends, and you're lucky enough to be one. Regardless, it's a special situation.
For most of the people in the world, it's just not possible because they don't have access to the required resources.

I'd say more like 99.99999999999% myself ;)
Theres only about 400 people on the planet that can use those machines fart dude.

Hello, I am new to this forum.
I have read and followed through all the steps in the guide in the first post. I managed to get Zelda Four Swords and Paper Mario 2 to work. Also, I managed to get the 100mbit (s3-gcsim) to work fine with out crashing.(it does help Paper Mario 2 especially during fight scenes) I have also managed to get the gameboy advance pack by deathcube to work.
However, those are the only two gamecube games I get going. The rest of the images refused to boot. Either I get a freeze after the first screen "Nintendo"(Luigi's Mansion) or black screen(RE4). It seems like Phoenix stop sending data or something.
Also, Phoenix 2.45 seems to have A LOT of options. I am hoping someone can point me to a manual where all those options are explained so I can know when to best use which option. For example, I don't even know the difference between PSUL or PSOLoad. I just switch back and forth hoping for it to work.
I am aware of the other methods, but I like this method more as the game Phantasy Star Online is good IMO. So please, someone with a good grip on this method help me. :)
Last but not least, this is an awsome forum! Has so many different sections that google points to here in nearly all searches. :)

I am simply trying to save the user data to my memory card and it will not save the data. The PSUL server just repeats the following message "Served DNS query from 192.168.1.32" I've followed "The definitive Guide to Gamecube Ripping and Streaming" and I've reconfigured several times. I now have a dedicated NIC Card and a Crossover cable and I still recieve this error.
