Hi,

Back in December I changed my Broadband Provider to Tiscali. Due to heavy downloading I got warnings about usage of their '2MB Unlimited Service' and was advised they would move it to a managed service during peak times. Fair enough I thought and kept downloading.

Now before they actually confirmed moving my account I was getting excellent results from sites like Torrent-Damage and PirateBay.
For example. Speeds on TD would typically be 100K to 180K download speed. PBay would be say 80-100K and sometimes maybe as low as 30K.

Now on Tuesday of this week I got my confirmation that they were now managing my account. Sure enough the bittornado download speeds during the peak times were 0-3K (I kid you not).

However, during non peak times like right now I am getting only 2K download with Bittornado with a file from the Pirate Bay.

Similarly, Torrent Damage seem affected but not that bad (55K for my current download).

Now I believe there are only two possible reasons for this:
1. There is a problem with Pirate Bay Tracker and it is not connecting properly or
2. Tiscali have imposed some other special tool to prevent me using Bittorrent even outside of Peak times.

Advice from other similar users would be a great help as Tiscali have said they are not mamaging my account outside peak hours and I should have the same results as before.

TPB is having many problems at the momenyt with their servers and whatnot due to lack of funding, so that is probably the most reasonable explanation for your inconsistencies.

I'm on tiscali broadband and I upgraded to 2meg unlimited but they gave me the package with 2gb cap so I kept phoning afor 2months and they didnt sort the problem out,that's why I haven't been downloading and I haven't been on afterdawn but now I've got it sorted.

Lethal_B's right. Pirate bay has major issues and thus I no longer touch anything with their tracker name on it.

Head to demonoid or isohunt. You'll have better luck.

OK, I'll try those other options. It just seems too much of a coincidence that both problems arrived together. But if other people are getting <3K downloads on Pirate Bay and they are not on Tiscali then perhaps Tiscali are not the problem.

I guess if I try the other options and they are OK then I'm back to normal downloading at non-peak times.
