I have a huge problem trying to rip MGS2:Substance PS2 and use it with SWAP MAGIC 3.6. I've followed the old guide step by step and the hexing guide, but when i use CD/DVD GENERATOR to make the .IML file it says "TOO SHORT LOCATION LENGTH" So then i replaced the three 1 byte dummy files i recreated to the original DEMO2, STAGE2, & VOX2.DAT files, created the .IML file, used .IML2ISO then burned it with DVD Decrypter and it was no good. the game stood on the black screen after LOAD PROGRAM. WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING WRONG WITH THE DUMMY FILES??????? PLZ HHHHEEEEEEELLLLLLPPP!
U gay!

Hey dude! Mik3h! If you are going copy and post material from another's web site, how about giving credit where credit is due. That whole first section of this thread was taken from someone else's web site. Gee! All those "words of wisdow" are someone else's. Wow! Plagiarism to the nth degree!

What part did he copy other than the digitalfaq Media link? That thing is outdated and incorrect anyway. The rest is original as far as I know.

Your absolutely right Tokijin! The section I read was Lord Smurf's digitalFAQ work. I don't even agree with the guy most times, argue with him all the time. But he did all the leg work on this piece, goes to great lengths to keep it accurate, and I think the crowd should know who's actually out there pounding the pavement. If you're going to work for free, the least you should get is some recognition.
Maybe an over-reaction! But still...

In my opinion it is. That is a useful link, am I'm not condoning plagarism. I also know Mik3h, and am sure it was an oversight on his part, he's no thief. Honestly that Media link is outdated, and a lot of the info simply isn't accurate, like TDK Media being top notch media, or Optodisc being second class. That's just my opinion.

It does say at the top - "Taken from - Digital FAQ"
I do not in anyway claim ownership of the info. I did say it was taken from the site and if they did not wish me to do so, I'm sure they would contact me asking me to take it off. It is as Tokijin stated outdated, so I'll probably have to update it with the new info. Anything else..?
-Mike
EDIT : Quote: I also know Mik3h, and am sure it was an oversight on his part, he's no thief.
Cheers, Tokijin.

Use WinRAR to extract these files. You will get the ISO. Burn it onto DVD-R (use Verbatim) and burn at half the maximum speed. eg. If it's 8x, burn at 4x with ImgBurn or Nero, DVD Decrypter or something.

No, there is a slim chance it will work on DVD-RW. You are advised not to use it.

I downloaded the iso for nba ballers from a torrentss site, its about 2.3 gigs just burn it and it should start right.
When i would put the DVD+RW in, the disc would spin and just make a clicking sound.

Do not use DVD+RW, use DVD-R, most PS2s do not like DVD-RWs ;)
And also, I don't have vista, I have a theme for StyleXP :) Although there has been a BETA copy leaked on the internet so I hear, sure I saw it on TorrentLeech..

Even if the game works off DVD+/RW, they put terrible strain on the PS2 laser. If you want your laser to burn out in a month, keep using them. Otherwise listen to mike and get some quality DVD+/-R's like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

You may have broken the laser in turning the cogs, keep trying to align it, or take it into a local repair shop to get it examined.

Hi first of all, this is a great guide and I applaude you ^^
the problem. I took out the case and everything and cleaned it and rotated the gear to the lowest position of the lens. The lowest position didn't work on my copied game not Kingdom Heart II original game. Then i tried every 4 clicks all the way b4 going back to the lowest position. Still no luck. But it was like 3 clicks after MY original gear position that my kingdom heart II loaded ONCE! just ONCE and never loaded again. It still says Reading Disc... and then Disc Read Error. My PS2 was the bundle with GT3 (the red box) and I modded with Blue messiah i think. Thank you

It tightens the laser, just take it into a local store and get a proffesional opinion.
