Anyone print borderless 4x6 prints with this printer? I'm trying to find out if epson has printing software like Canon where it will autocrop your picture to fit the 4x6 paper. With the Epson, it seems that you have to crop your pic manually if the picture isn't the correct ratio. You can't just resize it since the aspect ratio would be off if it's not the 4x6 ratio to begin with. If anyone has suggestions let me know.
By the way, I use the Prodisk printables and have had no problems and just picked up some ink from Abacus and seems to be good.
Thanks,
Ho'okani

Qimage is the best layout program I've found. It goes WAY beyond just accomodating 4X6 prints.

I have the Epson R320 and have printed borderless pictures with it - no problems with alignment. If you are using the software that came with the computer (Film Factory) when you get to the 3rd step for standard photo click on properties then click borderless - you receive a message/warning click okay than print. No problems so far. If you print with Windows XP go to the folder where you store your photos - double click the photo - click print - The windows printing wizard appears - in printing options click on printing preferences than borderless -again you'll receive a message/warning click okay and print.

I suppose you could but why bother? Epson already has a dogshit simple software all set up. Configuring Qimage would take a lot of work.

Wow this forum rocks it's helping me so much.
My question is I bought the Epson r320 and Im worried about smudging when it prints on the dvd. Someone mentioned a lacquer or some sort of sealant, does anyone have any brand of sealant or lacquer to recommend using? What kind, type, brand, and instructions on how to use the sealant without ruining the quality of the dvd? Or epson does fine on its own?
I've lost it again! Talk to me like I'm 3.

Epson is fine on it's own unless you plan on spilling your beer on the disk then it will smudge. Most people take care of there disk's and don't have to worry about this. I wouldn't bother wasting my time on spraying the disks.

Where can you get the scans to print on the DVD? Can I scan my own and print them?

Yes you can scan your own on print them directly to an inkjet printable DVD or CD using the software included with the Epson printer. Very easy.

I agre with you bb and Tom as far as refilling goes now with the original cartridges. Unfortunately the cheapest I can get ink locally is at 12 bucks a pop that works out to almost $90. I am gonna check out the costs online but again living in Canada I am limited there wioth the costs of duty and such .... we gotta contribute to help our government out ..... lol. The best I can find online is 39.00 - 44.00 + shipping a set. I will try this route next time I think. I can refill all 5 cartridges about 15 times for that as I can get a refill kit at Costco for 25 and 2 refill kits do go a long way but it can be a bit of a mess if your not carefull. Anyway's time will tell.

Is the Epson R300 worth the extra few dollars over the R200?
With the $30.00 rebate they get close to the same price.
What's the big difference between the two other than the LCD display on the R300?
The R300 has a card reader built into it but I already have one of those so it's not needed.
Who has the best price on these two?
I found the R200 at Newegg for $91.70 with shipping and the R300 for $127.80 with shipping at TigerDirect.
With the $30.00 rebate for the R300 that would put it at $97.60 with shipping, about $6.00 more than the R200.

I know I am diverting a bit from the direction of this thread but.....
I am having problems with my R200. It started to give me error messages about the cd/dvd tray not being aligned correctly that started to repeat themselves in a way I couldn't ignore.
I brought it into an Epson Service Center and waited almost a month for it's repair. The day I received it back it printed out two or three DVDs and then lapsed back into this "not aligned correctly" error process.
Anyone else having similar problems?

Since your in Canada check out www.blankmedia.ca They have Epson 6 pack OEM ink for $47 or you can also get "genuine" Epson 6 pack ink from them for $88. Canadian dollars and no duty to pay.

The alignment problem on this printer is a recognised pain in the arse, I see these printers being returned to the shop i work in on a regular basis with the same problems. Couple that with epsons not so wonderful protection counter i find it very diffifcult to recommend this printer. Personally i used to have this printer soon returned it and picked up a canon i865 not an ounce of a problem then bought a canon pixma ip 4000 for £89.00 bargain and far better than epson IMO.

I'm not sure what shop you work in, but in our shop we recieve far more Cannon printer's for problems than the Lexmark. I have had my R200 for about a year now, and have printed over 700 DVD's on it without one single problem. :-) By the way I haven't seen not one come into our shop so I am not sure about them being a problem? Could be, but not in this area, and they sell like hot cakes so I know they are around here. We can't keep them in stock, and either can the local Staples or Office Max.

Will the Epson printer allow the margin to be set small enough to print the outside DVD case insert on a sheet of 8.5x11" printer paper?
With my current Compaq/Lexmark printer if I set the margin less than 0.25" it resets itself back to a minimum of 0.25" and the outside case inserts wont fit on a standard 8.5x11 sheet of printer paper, an 1/8" or so runs off the end of the sheet when printed.

It's great that there are many ppl interested in Disc printing at home!
It's nice to label your back up with an interesting design. Alot of ppl like the Epson R series for this task, I myself use a Canon pixma IP3000 a great printer that for bizzare reasons never got released in the US with a disc printing function.
At first I was big into Full face printing but now Inclined to simply us a B & W movie logo with the usual dvd logo symbols (Combi DV font for this)
Sometimes I use a spray to give a disc a more durable print finish, this works better when making my son a back up of an expensive original or giving a famly DVD to others
I'm always looking for good quality disc's..Yes TY are the best but expensive. I recently bought 75 Datawrite mcc 003 printables but these are mostly fake and of terrible reslults with playback error's.
