how much of the edge?, is it because the printing surface on the edges isnt flat, therefor it cant print on it?

ive seen some media that has half a millimeter that just curves downward at the end.

dont know what to say, ive had 2 and they both worked first try.. id recommend buying g05 hub printables.

and ive never had to mess with the center settings before,

It's about like a half millimeter onrhw edge. I use Ridata Hub printables that were highly recommended by this site. I order from Linkyo Corp whick was a link provided in the forum.

I have the inner cirle set to 20 and outer 120. I only set my printer on text to save ink. The final quality is excellent so I didn't see a need to bump it up to best DVD quality.

yeah its not your printer, its only the discs.. make sure they are real ridata, Mine are ridatatoo.. they are ritek g05's, i think its the same company or somethin? make sure they are real, just download a program off here to find out the make. you only need the inner to be at 22 mill though, thats what mine is and its perfect.

but if its only half a mill off, then its probobly the disc, if you look closely at the surface, you might see how it lowers down towards the ends and the jet cant reach it. Ive never had it happen on the outter area, but ive had it happen on the inner one.

not common though

I actually got them from supermedia.com. They are said to be Ritek Ridata G05 8X DVD-R white inkjet hub printable. Jetyi83, where do you order yours from?

Use a program called DvdinfoPro,give u make, model, serial #...will also check your Disc for bad clusters,if u ever need to remake a copy of your copy.Cause if u got bad clusters on the Disc,it more then likely will play on your DVD player.Might play OK,or might skip a little,or freeze for a sec or 2.But you will never be able to make a copy of it W/bad clusters, cause your computer will not read the Disc beyond the bad cluster.
Supermedia is a good place to buy from..U might want to try TAIYO-YUDEN..if the Ritek or Ridata give u any problems.
My personal experience with all these Disc's has been quite good..I rarely have problems..but i have come to expect at least 5 out of a 100 will have some sort of a problem, whether it be Disc,Program,or man made. All is not perfect

id like some help please :)

When printing ive always been told to print at atleast 300dpi. If i enlarge an image from 72dpi to 300dpi and enlarge the picture also no quality is gained as photoshop is not magic. This means that ill need a huge image (im on about dvd covers) to start off with. Something around 3000x2000 (72DPI) px if im correcr?

Is there a site which offers covers this big? Also, are my theories correct :p Help is appreciated

300 dpi is ideal for the printing but it doesn't HAVE to be that high to look good. I print at about 225 usually and they still look tight. But yes, your 'theories' are correct.

Anybody have a copy of the Print CD software they can send me? I'm in the process of moving my home and office and I can't find my copy.

My R200 started to crash a month or so ago. It wouldn't pull the CD's in without a little assistance with my finger pushing on them. It wouldn't eject them when it finished printing, either. If someone is not physically there to push them in and to pull them out the printer "crashes". I end up having to turn the printer off, disconnect the CD Tray and disconnect it from the computer, wait a few minutes for the print queue to disappear (I can't delete the queued file), turn it back on, reinsert the CD tray and start all over.

I brought it into an Epson service center and waited 2-1/2 weeks to get it back. It was still doing the same thing as before. The Service Center has asked me to bring in the Print CD software to test but I have been unable to find it in all my boxes of stuff. The Service Center told me that Epson refused to send them a copy of the software - go figure - so I'm hoping someone can send me the file. So I can get some resolution to this sordid affair and get back to printing again.

I am having the exact same problems as KissMiss! This particular printer worked perfectly for the first 50-100 DVD Labels, but now, the CD/DVD Tray won't feed itself in without "a little help" from my finger and when finished printing won't fully eject without me pulling it out manually. This is not causing my entire computer to crash, but does require me to either: A) Sit by the printer during the entire printing process; or B) Turn my printer Off/On before I can print anything else (which I hate to do since this cycles the ink cartridges and wastes the ink). I read about all these great online sites to purchase ink, but if the printer isn't going to function properly, why bother? I have done a Mcrosoft/Google search for "Epson R320 Maintenance", etc... All I can come up with are places to buy this printer on the cheap. If any of you other Epson R 200/300/300M/320 owners have had similar problems please post your solutions/experiences dealing with Epson Tech Support. I did read on one forum that it had to do with dirty or bad rollers, but this thing is only 5 months old, and the Epson website doesn't say anything about how to clean the rollers, how often, or even where these specific rollers are.

The tchs replaced not only the rollers but the whole assembly responsible for manipulating the CD Tray and it still doesn't work. I've told them I want it replaced. I am unwilling to make 4 more trips to a repair facility and wait two weeks for a non-result.

BTW, I was able to download the 26MB "Print CD" software from Limewire in 2 minutes and brought it to the tech along with a couple of images and blank CD's they could experiment with.

I would add that I had zero problems for the first 300+ DVD's. It was only after I replaced the ink cartridges and the printer made some very unpleasant noises while initializing them that the problem started.

The R200 etc. will always make this funny so called nose; you speak of when you put new ink cartridges into the printer. This is what they say it does to initialize the new cartridges.

I have had my R200 since July and have printed more than 700 labels on it and ;it just recently started refusing to pull the DVD Tray ion under the front rollers. The rollers are the ones that the CD/DVD tray go under when it starts pulling it in. I cleaned them with alcohol and it worked for a few days ;but started acting up again.

My warranty does not expire until July so I have it in the shop at the present time. Tech Support gave me the name of the shop located in my city that is suppose to fix it. They did not ask me for the software so I assume they had it.

If this does not fix my problem then I will be calling Epson for a replacement of the printer period. This is what you should do now that the service department did not get it fixed. DO NOT wait until your warranty runs out and then expect anyone to do anyting about it. You must act now and I mean now.......

This is a fine printer so don't give up on it.

I don't think we are talking about the same noise, my friend. I am quite clear about all the ordinary noises attendant to initialization of a variety of printers. This noise was quite unique. Would you use "grinding" to describe the noise you are talking about? I would.

yup, the roller will get old after a while.. you have to make sure it pulls it in, so just keep an eye on it and if it doesnt.. give it a push. and it will take it the rest of the way..

sometimes when its really old it will even pull it back too far, when that happens you have to hold it back before it rolls all the way through.. i know it seems lame, but its not that hard.. its just like th elittle jimmy riggs you used to have to do with nintendo.

if the tray pulls to where there is about 2 inches left.. it might pull through so just hold on to it until it stops.. and it will find the place and still print it out perfectly.

that happened after about 500-700 prints.

Everyone here seems to own an Epson R*** of some sort..
I too had an Epson R300 but after 100 prints the often reliable printer packed in CD printing, changed got a new one etc..Same thing after awhile.

Switched to the marvelous Canon Pixma IP series (Have a 3000 and a 5000) 900 + successful CD/DVD prints and easy on the ink. The pixma printer holds many awards over Epson on various European PC magazines (Arugable and review worthy of course) but I will stick with Canon.

** A CD printable Pixma printer is unavailable in N. America and some other world areas.

There's a $20.00 rebate for the Canon PIXMA IP3000 going on now.
Newegg has it for $66.50 plus $6.95 shipping, after rebate the total is only $53.45, even cheaper than my new R300 for $67.50 delivered.

May be found even cheaper elsewhere, I didn't shop around much.

The ink is cheap too at the abacus private store.

I have my R200 in the shop locally under warranty. Tech said that the CD/DVD tray was worn out and that was what causes the tray not to pull in properly. They are getting a new tray from Epson and he says this should fix the problem. I will let you know if it does.

He says my tray is worn out. I guess I have printed too many DVD/CD's on the little old printer. I would not think about 1,000 should cause it to wear out but what do I know about printers.

If this does not work then I will just get a new printer for 67.50 since someone said they were that cheep.

It has only been in the shop for 3 days and I have 28 DVD burned and waiting to be labeled.

I just talked with the tech who has my R200 - for the Second time - and apparently he just plans on replacing all the same parts he replaced the last time which fixed nothing.

If it still doesn't work I will insist on its replacement for free. I am shocked to hear several of you are willing to "live with it". Why? You paod for the machine and you paid for the warranty that comes with it. If it fails within the warranty period you've got a free repair or replacement due to you. Insist upon it!

Kissmiss,
You had better believe I will get a replacement if my R200 is not fixed successfully. I am one that will not just live with it.

Epson should make their product so it works properly, retrofit it or take it off the market and replace it with something that does.
