You may be behind a firewall or router. You need to forward the appropriate ports to allow your PS2 to freely access the internet. Do you have DSL or cable?

I got DSL yeah. Wich ports have to be forwarded then?
But isnt it weird then that all my other games work online with no problem?

Not really. Most games use different ports. You need to forward the appropriate ports. Search google to find out which ports Star Wars Battle Front 2 uses. Then go to Start-->Control Panel-->Network and Internet Connections-->Network Connections. Right click the connection you use to get online. Then go to properties, click on the wireless networks tab, and click on view available wireless networks. That should tell you what router you have. Find your router here and follow the directions: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

To the people who got the game running:
is it possible to play the game in Lan (2 ps2's hooked to eachother), just like in SW:B?
If so, do you need to do the dnas patch for that to work?

1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.
2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
7. Q. What do I need to use Swap Magic?
A. With Slim PS2 v.12-14
Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop-v12/pag... Magickeys (also referred to as slide tool, slim tool or, magic switch): http://magickeys.net/ or tape and tissue mod: From Pretense: If the fliptop doesn't work, just give up on it and do a tape and tissue mod. Open up your case again and tape the back sensor (toward the upper left and beneath the hinge part of the lid) with duct tape or even regular Scotch tape (I use several layers to be on the safe side), put the case back together, and stuff a small ball of tissue into the hole for the front sensor (lower right just above the power button).

ok i'm having a weird problem. I downloaded the PAL solops2 version, followed all the directions for converting to NTSC, patched the DNAS, burned on a good sony DVD+R. I have swapmagic 3.6 on a v7 ps2.
the game plays fine, but if my network adapter is plugged in before booting, it locks up on a black screen during boot. if i plug the network adapter in after boot, the game wont recognize it. any ideas? I really wanna play this online

i didn't use either of those. I just followed the directions on page 7 of this thread. My system file says:
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SWBFRNT2.ELF;1
VER = 1.01
VMODE = NTSC
the game plays 100% fine on my NTSC playstation. but it wont boot if my network adapter is plugged in.

I would try patching it with one of those. The screen won't be perfectly centered, but you might be able to play it online. I have very little info on how changing the video format affects you being able to play the game online. Maybe your network adapter is defective, does it work for other games?

Thanks to mallymmx - you are are hero
I followed your advice and after reading the complete thread - got it working no problem on PAL with slim PS2.
Thanks once again.
I am a newbie and would like to thank everyone for the input as its taken me a few days reading etc of all posts and now have a working game.
I managed to get two coasters so far - 1st attempt at battlefront 2 and then Fifa 06 - I wanted to back up my own original game - it loads initially but freezes then - any advice would be helpfull.

Just follow the advice I posted on this page already. Use good media. Burn with DVD Decrypter. There isn't much more to it. Are you booting games with Swap Magic or a modchip?

My back-up works perfect. I simply created a new ISO-file with gnies rebuilding tool and burned it with Nero(UDF)at 4x. So simple as that. It's a PAL-version.

Thanks guys! reading this forum I got my battlefront2 backup to play online last night! I also was able to get it to play from my Hard Drive. yeah! However, it won't do both.
It seems when I have the hard drive installed, I can't use the adaptor to play online. Does anyone know why that may be? I've heard of tons of people playing online with HDA/HDloader. What are some possibilites of why I can't play game online while using the hdAdvance?
Thanks in advance,

You could either try rebuilding with Expert or Using DVD Loader or Zone Loader.
11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949 With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515 With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT:
From Anthony 05:
Download it and then follow these instrcutions and it will work.
1. select Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins list.
2. Select the iso.
3. Click extract LBA
4. Click extract file
5. Click rebuild file
6. Click rebuild lba.
Make sure you do it in that order.
This worked for me when every other way failed.
It is very easy to do so even the noobies should be able to do it.
Keep in mind im backing up the PAL version, but if your having trouble backing up with NTSC then i dont see a problem trying.
Good luck.
12. Q. I have Swap Magic 2.0 and game X won't work, what do I do?
A. Check here to see if there's a fix: http://swapmagicfix.com
Q. Where can I find CD Loader, DVD Loader, Zone Loader, or Cogswap Loader?
A. http://swapmagicfix.com/

There's your problem right there. Imation is awful. Try getting some good media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's from http://www.supermediastore.com
