1. When you have to burn the image file is this the. BIN file and this file alone?
2. I know it mentions using a blank CD-R - I only had a DVD-R, will it work if I try a CD-R?
3. I used Sonic Digital Media LE.V7 and it asked me to format the Disc to which I said and burn data. Does it matter that I used Sonic Media and not Nero?
4. Is there a list of compatible ROMS for the PS 2?
5. And what capacity USB dongle would you recommend and will be used for the saves as well.
Thanks.
If you have a .bin and .cue file you can only burn it too a cd-r, not a dvd-r
You don't need to format the disc before burning. Just use Nero or Imgburn to burn it too a cd-r.
Burn it at 16x or 24x speed.
I don't really know of any compatibility lists for roms on the PS2
There are threads in the forum on emulators for the PS2.
One is here
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/351999
Just do a search for more.
For USB game playing I use a 300GB, some people use the Western Digital mybook 1TB
An external drive with its own power supply (wall plug in)is best, but you can use pen drives. Not all are compatible with USB advance, but are with other PS2 programs.
I have used anything from 1,2,4,8 and 16GB pen drives.
With the modbo chip, you will have to 'Disable Macrovision Fix' in the Matrix Menu in order play games off the USB with USB Advance. Just look at post #60 above

Yes you can use Swap Magic 3.6 and USB advance elf on the 9000x PS2
How to load ELF files from USB drive - link
That will show you how to rename your ELF file to either SWAPMAGIC.ELF or SMBOOT0.ELF and then you place it in a folder called SWAPMAGIC on the USB drive
When you start your Swap Magic, it will find the SWAPMAGIC.ELF automatically or you need to press a combo of keys to boot the SMBOOT0.ELF, SMBOOT1.ELF's

Thats your problem right there. You need to purchase Swap Magic 3.6
You can't use a downloaded version and burn it.
Check the Date code on the bottom of your PS2
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/740841#4492091
If it is 8c March or earlier then you could install fmcb 1.8 to your memory card.
If it is 8c and later, then you need to use Retail Swap Magic 3.6

Ok then your all set. Just use uLe to copy the OPL v7 to your memory card, then launch it.
YOu can use a burned CD or DVD of uLe.
YOu can download 4.38 from here and burn it or using Dev 1 mode, you can use the uLe ELF from your memory card.
http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37242
How to install Dev 1
http://www.console-exploits.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9056
To copy is pretty simple.
First on your pc, copy the ELF files to a USB drive, in a FOLDER named BOOT
Then once uLe is loaded on the PS2, insert your USB drive
Using FILEBROWSER, browse to the files on /Mass ( which is your USB drive)
Highlight the Folder named BOOT, press R1 on PS2 controller, then press copy
Now browse to your mc0, which is your memory card. Now Press R1 again and Select Paste.
It is now copied.
Oh and by the way, Please stop typing in CAPS. Read the forum rules.

Yes burn the uLe. The DVD is best to burn.
Originally posted by saiteen: i have 320 gb western digital hdd is it compactablo on opl.7v
Yes that should be compatible

You will need the Drive to be FAT32
pfs0: is only for internal HDD on PS2, not external, so yes for a FAT PS2 with internal hdd, OPL also works.
Originally posted by saiteen: i have a small doubt does it cause any harm to ps2 because it is first time to copy software to ps2
Nothing gets copied right to a PS2. It is only software being run.
Even fmcb 1.8 thats installed to memory card, has nothing to do with the PS2 itself.
Another thing, you just made 4 posts, one after the other. When your the last poster, please just use EDIT MESSAGE button at bottom of your post.

You need to tell us specifically what you need help with.
I told you above how to play games off USB
You can use the same drive for your wii, it won't matter.
USBadvance didn't like partitions, but with OPL it doesn't matter. It will recognize

You can use the 'Configurable USB loader' as it allows multiple partions.
But if your going to use USBAdvance instead of OPN PS2 Loader, then no you can't as USBAdvance will only see the first partition.
So unless you make your first Partition for USBadvance, then its no good.
OPN PS2 LDR will see a second partition, as its more advanced software.
So for you it might just be safer to use separate drives for your games.
