Russ, I think Everest is wrong in my situation as well. I believe my motherboard and CPU temps are reversed! You stated yours was reversed in the following post:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/423/683586#5040125
I believe I'm running the newest everest too. So it's unfortunate.
5.30.1900 Even with this version, it doesn't recognize the board.
I like my 4gb of G.Skill memory in The UD3P 1066 DDR2 running cool to the touch...These are pretty good set
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231225
Here mine temps at 3.9ghz with everest at idle
but with like...I said b4 with 4.60 my DIMM volts was'nt recognize either. I only have 2 things pluged directly into the board rear fan and cpu fan the rest is fan controller direct connected omegais your Motherboard ID showing up at all with the New version of everest?
as you can see the born on Date of my Board 5/20/09:)..lol

No. It has no idea what board I have. Truly unfortunate. I think I have the latest Everest build too...

Question about "normal" computers, does it really matter what kind of case they go in? I'm looking for something to potentially put my parents new computers into and everything I can think of is overkill and to expensive. It doesn't help there was already a very small selection of good looking cases out there lol.

I like both of these... ;)
CM Elite 335
I actually have the OLD version of this case and it's a beauty!!! Easy to deal with and fits many needs!! :)

lol I was actually checking out that CM case earlier. Only draw back is I'd have to find a way to remove the lighting...is it possible or would I need to replace the fans?

Mine didn't come with LED fans that I remember. lol. Been a few years me thinks. ;) Anyway.. YEP it's possible to remove the fans provided and replace if need be... I would see how "bright" they are before you replace them if you decide to go with the case. :)

Well, here we are in the final stretch! LOL!! Temps at idle.
Max temps running Orthos.
All I did was change the version of Everest. Now the NorthBridge no longer get's hot to the touch and the temps themselves are lower??? The temperatures are in the right locations too. The CPU is now correct, and the same thing goes for the motherboard. I have no idea why just changing HW monitoring software should do that, but here's the proof it did! It doesn't get much cooler than that!

Red_Maw,
This is the case I use, a Cooler Master RC-534. If you don't want the lights, just don't plug them in. They aren't on the fans like the RC-335.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119106
What I did with mine was moved the rear fan to the front as an intake, right in front to the HDD bays, and replaced the rear with one of these!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999346
Mine has the blue lights, but it's the same fan. 53 cfm@1200 rpm. Very quiet, and it's the best cooling case I ever owned by a wide margin. Right/Left HDD bays right behind where you moved the rear fan to the front. Run 7-10C cooloer than Front/Rear bays. I just posted my temps at idle and under load earlier today on this thread, and it runs very cool! Amazingly cool!
Best Regards,
Russ

That one is also on my list, and was going to ask you about the lights if I really did finally convince my parents to get rid of their P3/P4. Thanks for answering before I asked lol.
To be honest I'm not really a fan of left/right hdd bays as it's difficult to route cables to them without making it a pain to put the side of the case down. It probably won't be a big deal for the system that's planned to go into that case since it will only have 1 or 2 two hdd's but for 5+ hdd's it doesn't work that well imo.
My next case will have front/back bays but I hope the temps don't go up since the seagate hdd already runs warm for some reason (40C idle), all others are are 7C+ lower though.

Red_Maw,
40C is a long way from the danger point of 65C. Is it your boot drive? Mine runs a about 2-3C warmer than my other drives. I used 18" Sata cables with one right angle plug and they were very easy to tuck out of the way!

Russ

Any card from any previous generation in the same price point would stomp it. Seriously when it's getting outpaced by a GeForce 6800 that's just sad. I watched a 6800GT 256MB slaughter it in several tests.
6800GT? I'm pretty sure even the FX5700 stomps it. That's what's sad.

I'm surprised you bought one to be honest, our G210 slating has been quite public long before now...
Shaff is right though, just because the G210 is the slowest graphics card for several years, still doesn't mean it can't play HD video. If that's all it's for, it will still work.

An electric converter box is both more expensive, and tedious. At least the 210 is MORE proper than converting VGA D-Sub analog, to HDMI. I guess time will tell just how idiotic this purchase was LOL!

Not idiotic at all as long as you're not putting any load on the card at all. If, however, you're only using it for HDMI out to replace a card that only had VGA, you could have bought a card off ebay like an 8400GS with a DVI port for probably less than half the cost.
In terms of power, a GTX260 216core, which while reasonably powerful, is hardly top dog in the current GPU charts, is between 35 and 60 times as powerful as the G210. Meanwhile, it is only roughly 8 to 10 times as powerful as an X800XT from 2004, or 18 to 30 times as powerful as a 9800 Pro from early 2003.

My velociraptor hasn't been up and running that long. So really, I don't hold a lot of faith in smart statistics. But I've never seen the analysis come back telling me that I have "511 pending sectors" It says that this value is very large, and that I should replace the drive as soon as possible. The damn thing is brand new LOL! Surely this is some kind of error or mistake...

It is a ways off, but the gap shrinks quickly in summer :( The odd part is it's just a storage drive I hardly ever access. Right now (according to everest) my boot drive (WD) is 27C, the storage drive I'm using is 27C (WD) and the one that's not in use (Seagate) is 32C.
I ran out of the plugs with right angle heads, and mine are only about 12" probably lol. The problem is the power cable since it's stiff and and to be bent 180 degrees to get the connections right on top of each other. New sata cables and power adapters could probably solve my problem with this case; probably try that when I go to use it again.

Quote: For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16_1 slot
Does that mean I have to put my gpu in the first slot in order to get optimal performance? I don't understand why I can't just put it in any PCI-E 16X slot since there will only be one card. If so can I get around that problem by getting a BIOSTAR TPOWER instead? They don't mention anything about having to put the gpu in the first slot but I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't add the fine print.
TIA,

It depends on the motherboard. If the second slot is wired at 16x, then there will be no difference in performance. If it isn't, then you will lose a little performance. Which board is in question here?

Sorry, kind of left that out lol. My original choice was a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R (and is the board in question whose specifications state that with only one gpu it needs to be placed in the first slot).

Ah, the X58A-UD3R is a little different as it has four PCIe slots. What it actually says is this:
Quote: Note 2) The PCIEX8_1 and PCIEX8_2 slots share bandwidth with the PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_2 slots espectively. When PCIEX8_1 is populated with an expansion card, the PCIEX16_1 slot will operate at up to x8 mode; when PCIEX8_2 is populated with an expansion card, the PC IEX16_2 slot will operate at up to x8 mode.
If you look carefully at the board, you will see two of the slots are designated 16x, and two are designated 8x. If you use any of the 8x slots, the 16x slots that correspond will also run at 8x, even if neither of the other two slots are being used.
If we call the 8x slots B1 and B2, and the 16x slots A1 and A2, here's how it plays out:
A1: 16
A2: 16
B1: 8
B2: 8
A1+A2: 16+16
A1+B1: 8+8
A1+B2: 16+8
A2+B1: 16+8
A2+B2: 8+8
B1+B2: 8+8
A1+A2+B1: 8+16+8 (I'm pretty sure about this, but not 100%)
A2+B1+B2: 8+8+8
A1+A2+B1+B2: 8+8+8+8

You guys are awesome! You make me feel great about my purchase. :p The way I saw it, I didn't have much choice on the egg. The 210 runs cool, at the time it seemed to be the most cutting edge. So Nvidia is a bunch of bastards for taking a step backwards. The 210 has no right to bare the name/Numeral. If the 210 does not compare to the 8400, they had no right naming it such. It's highly confusing to do that. Its like saying a 3.1 liter engine is more powerful than a 3.8!
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

You know what the best thing is? It's since been rebranded to the 310... :P
(Also, to be fair, the last numerals denote performance, and there was never a x100 card before, other than integrated graphics)
This is one of several reasons I'm no fan of nvidia.
