My brother says his dremel is weak LOL! He is the one who suggested the Dikes. But I sure do like the C-Clamp idea LOL! I had a similar thought. All I'll have to do is vacuum up the paint shards. :)
Thanks for your input guys.

Ho ho! Not too bad. I used the C-Clamp idea. It left a slight bubble in the bottom of the case, but that could be from not using a solid enough material. I used a very thick paper back book. Figured it wasn't much different than wood LOL! Aww well. Not a big deal. Since it will never be seen there ;)
I also installed a Geforce 210 Video card. Mainly for its HDMI capabilities. Though some light gaming will probably be done LOL! I didn't wanna put a Ferrari card in there if you get me. I don't want this little case heating up. And I wanted this card to take some load off the CPU when playing BDs, and videos in general. The 5200 is stout, but when playing BDs, it would average 60-85% usage. At least this way, the PSU will take on the brunt of the heat. And if Seasonic is worth a half a nickel, it should be able to handle this.
I also replaced the IDE ribbon cable with IDE round cable. Much better. I even have room for a BD drive down the road :D Eventually, I'll probably remove IDE entirely.

I can think of dozens of cards much faster than the GT210 for the same price. Even integrated smothers it. If you got the card free, good on you. But if you just went and purchased it, a card roughly 5 times faster can be had for the same money. It won't even do light gaming at all(well not entirely no games but nothing remotely modern will run properly even with low settings.)

Not to be a buzz kill or anything :P Just saying for the purposes you outlined, almost any other card blows the GT210 away for the same price. Even in small form factor.

I bought it because it was Small form factor(Low Profile), Gigabyte, Nvidia, HDMI, it was only 50$. So if you were thinking of ATI, I'm afraid that wouldn't work. Or at least it would have been risky. And it's been said, that it doesn't expel that much heat :p
Because the board does not like several Ati series cards, it's risky in my opinion to run anything ati. I know this is ignorant, but this is not my build, so I won't be able to watch it like a hawk. LOL!

By the way, I'm installing the Tuniq 120 right now. IT'S A FRIGGIN BEAST LOL! In fact, it's nearly impossible. I'm having one heck of a time...

Also by the way, the integrated graphics are 6100 or 6200, so the 210 should stomp on that...

1000 Pixels is too wide? Granted I usually go 800 x 600 pixels, but I didn't think it was that big. But my monitor is freakishly large compared to the average :p Don't laugh sam!
As soon as my computer is back up and running, I'll edit the pic. But by that time, this page will probably be done and gone...

Actually no, the G210 gets outperformed by a lot of integrated cards. Maybe not the 6100, but it's the worst value graphics card in terms of performance per dollar there's been for years.

What would you recommend in the Nvidia scheme of things? Has to be Low profile, no more than 50$, and not exceed a 300W PSU.

Pff, I wouldn't. There aren't any good nvidia cards in that price range at all. Maybe an 8500 or something.

So...if you were in my situation, needed HDMI, and a converter box costs MORE than the Geforce 210, what would you do? And installing ATI cards is high risk for bugs. What ati card were you thinking of, which is low profile, and would smoke the 210? I really think that running ati is high risk though...

On another note, I have dual quad machines :D Up and running. Well...I'm installing Windows 7 on the other machine still :p

Wow estuansis. I like that Tuniq 120, but it sure was tricky at first. I watched a guy on youtube try to install one, that boosted my confidence LOL! Ehh, he did o-k for the cramped space he had. He really should have removed his board to do it though.
With the HAF 932 though, plenty of work space. It made me appreciate it once again. Had to remove the fan from the heat sink to make it easier though. And I think I got the thermal compound better this time. Felt a lot slimier than the arctic 5.

Russ, when I enable all of those settings, my CPU fan runs at 2200Rpms non stop! Perhaps that works for you, but my setup doesn't like that LOL! VERY obnoxious.

Here it is with auto GREEN settings. It seems to only engage the fan, when stressfull CPU usage ensues LOL!

This is the Tuniq 120 tower now, by the way ;)

oman7,
I thought this was another computer, not the one you are assembling. Unless you have a PWM fan (doubtful), you need to set the CPU Smart Fan Mode to either Auto or Voltage and set it up to your tastes with EasyTune.try Auto first and if it suites you, fine. Only close EasyTune with the "-" key and be sure to hit set to check your settings. What I did was run Orthos on it, and tried different settings as I went along.

BTW! I don't see a CPU fan showing on your Everest at all. That tells me you don't have the CPU fan plugged into the 4 pin plug closest to the CPU, or the sensor Icon is turned off in the preferences. The other 4 pin is for a system fan, and it totally won't work for the CPU!

Russ

The reason it isn't showing, is because it feels it doesn't need to engage. Since it's set for auto setinngs, it only engages under stressful situations. This was not one of them. If I were to run Prime 95 or orthos, rest assured, the CPU fan will engage, and make itself known in everest LOL!

Oman7,
Up on the top left of the Everest screen, click preferences and then Sensor icons. Check the CPU. Dollars to dognuts it's not checked. I just looked your Tuniq 120 up and it's not PWM, so it has to be set to voltage or auto in the Mode settings. Do that and use EasyTune. It really works great! I'm going to move the Video card back to the top slot again and see how the temps are then.

Stay Tuned,
Russ

CPU clock was not checked, however CPU fan was checked. Everest seems to adapt when the CPU fan increases. I may be running an old version. I'll look into it in the morning, when I've increased my Caffeine concentration LOL!

Besides, I think the sensor icons are merely for the system tray ;)

Any card from any previous generation in the same price point would stomp it. Seriously when it's getting outpaced by a GeForce 6800 that's just sad. I watched a 6800GT 256MB slaughter it in several tests.

Alright I've decided on these components for my next build:
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R
i7 920/930
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 6GB
MX-2 (finally going to have to figure out how to apply TIM lol)
Noctua D14

Hadn't fully decided on the RAM but if I want mushkin I have to buy it by tomorrow to get the rebate :\ So any thoughts or comments? I haven't heard much about mushkin but it is the best ram for the money I've seen (and with the rebate it stays within my budget).

What about this i5??

Mushkin is my favorite but that's a FANBOY statement. ;) But it's the BEST.... :D :D :D

add: Yeh .. I know you'd have to get a different mobo but I think you could get almost the same performance for about $200-$300 less than the i7 setup. ;) JM2¢

I certainly like my 8Gb of Mushkin 1066 DDR2 Ram :D Gskill is good too though :p

Russ, I think Everest is wrong in my situation as well. I believe my motherboard and CPU temps are reversed! You stated yours was reversed in the following post:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/423/683586#5040125
I believe I'm running the newest everest too. So it's unfortunate.
5.30.1900 Even with this version, it doesn't recognize the board.

Thanks for input gm. I did an i5 build to compare to the i7 one and the difference is only 48$, at which point I'd rather have a 1366 MB as future proofing. If I cut the SATA II ports from the MB the i5 would probably be substantially cheaper....going to think about that later. The ram stays the same for either build though, so I'm not afraid to buy it before deciding :)
