Quote: Hi everyone, I have a question about CCE, when i use CCE Basic and RB I noticed that everytime CCE starts on a new .avs file it resets the "Priority" in Windows Task Manager from "High" to "Normal". I have 2 questions,
One, does CCE perform its job faster if i put the "Priority" to "High"?
Using High priority instead of Normal will probably only net you about a 1%-2% speed increase. Even in Idle priority (which is how I run it) you shouldn't notice a real speed difference.
Quote: If so, how do I set CCE Basic so that its priority stays on "High" for the whole encoding process?
The key to changing CCE's priority is to set the priority of DVD-RB. Whatever priority DVD-RB is running at will be the priority CCE is started with. The easiest way to do this is to start DVD-RB with a batch file. The batch file would look something like this:
start /high Rebuilder.exe
Put that batch file in the same directory as DVD-RB, and run it instead of running DVD-RB directly.

Quote: Quality_prec corresponds to Image Quality Priority in CCE 2.50, and Quantizer characteristics in CCE 2.66/2.67. The value ranges from 0 - 64 (as in CCE 2.66+), but is scaled to 0-100 when using CCE 2.50 (so if you're a CCE 2.50 user and have set this parameter to X, you have to enter X*64/100 in DVD-RB). This setting determines if CCE gives priority to image details, or evenly colored areas. The lower the value, the more priority will be given to details, which could result in blockyness or banding in other areas. A high value will result in good looking evenly colored areas, but could result in edge artifacts.
Just to add to this a little bit, I usually keep DVD-RB's default setting of 16 since that's the value I normally use for manual encoding anyway. One major exception is animated movies, which tend to have a lot more solid surfaces that benefit from raising this number. I normally use 20 for animation. If you're using CCE Basic make sure you have version 2.69 because you can't change this setting on older versions.
Since VBR Bias isn't user accessible in CCE Basic, I don't worry about that setting.

I'm trying to make sense of some RB-CCE results, and I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I just ran Jerry MaGuire and the second to last scene and last scenes have jerky video as played from my HDD...not the backup DVD on my player. The Decrypted file, as well as a Remake Pro file, play fine from the HDD. I ran the Decrypted file with RB v66a, v65, and v56. All produced the same jerky video. I then decided to run it through DVD2One, and the video was fine.
If anyone has Jerry MaGuire in their backup collection, it is the scene where MaGuire, wife, and son are walking through the park at about 2:12 play time.

I'm not sure that I have that particular DVD but I'll see if I can get it for a deal and give it a try. Did you try and rip the movie over again using Decrypters aggressive settings? Better still, try and rip it with Shrink and see what happens.

I did end up ripping twice, but didn't have trouble either time. Also, the Decrypter file played fine, so it didn't occur to me to try another rip setting. Since the DVD2One backup plays fine it seems unlikely that anything is wrong with the source Decrypter file, but I could give different settings a try after I finish a Batch job.

I posted here awhile back but it seems I've come across a new problem here. I wished I had snapshot the error message but it read something like this error 00000XXA, something similar to that. The DVD I'm working on is The Godfather I, being that they are ranging from 170 minutes each, I am running a 10 pass encode.

@HKT, in the CCE Manual, it states that you won't gain anything from anymore then 4 passes, and the industry standard is 2 passes, so the 10 passes you are doing is a waste of time, try 2 passes and see if it comes up with the same error (it should, but, you never know)

Try removing the filters from avisynth and 10 passes is a waste of time.
I've also noticed that you're still using MPEG2Dec3dg.dll which has been replaced with DGDecode.dll.
In fact my advice would be to delete your inf file, update to the DGDecode.dll which is extracted from DGMPGDec formerly known as DVD2avi, and then redo your setup as per Vurbals guid here at AD. You can download DGMPGDec from here:http://www.doom9.org/

Okay I ran a 2 pass encode and the error still came up, I'll run it again without the filters. If it works with the filters disabled, how can I get it to work properly? I'll keep you guys posted. Much appreciated for the help.

Before you get started download the latest version of RB .66a and the latest version of avisynth. Then delete MPEG2Dec3dg.dll which has been replaced with DGDecode.dll.
Read my previous post for the link to the new dll its extracted from DGMPGDec. Delete your inf file (its the notepad file in your RB folder). Sometimes it's better to start over which is also a good time to update,

[problem about the size that bigger than 4.7GB]
[DVD-ReBuild 0.66 + CCE-SP 2.50 with eclCCE.exe]
Hi everyone
I was happy using DVD Shrink until I read about DVD-RB.
So last 2 nights and days I have been reading all discussion about the DVD-RB and Cinemacraft from this cite and from doom9.org.
I did everything as instruction says but I still get
large VIDEO_TS folder that can't fit in DVD5.
I'm using latest DVD-RB 0.66 and CCE-SP 2.50 Trial with eclCCE.
this is my rebuilder.ini
[Options]
OneClick=0
NoWarn=0
AudioDub=0
idct7Opt=1

Output=D:\ASD\
CCENEW=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder SP\EclCCE.exe
[CCEOptions]
VBR_bias=25
Quality_prec=16
eclPasses=2
In mode menu, below selections are checked:
CCE Mode
Verbose Status Window
Dynamically Assign Cell Bitrates
In Option menu,
AVS Option->Convert to YUY2 selected
CCE Option->CCE SP selected. (not CCE SP 2.50, because I'm using eclCCE.exe as instructor says )
First, I used DVD Shrink to get rid of all menus and extras and all languages and captions except English and set no compression on video, then created ISO file.
All process's go very well, no error, no problem.
Only after long conversion, my newly created VIDEO_TS folder size is bigger than 4.7GB.
This is the log after 1st prepare:
[15:08:13] Phase I, PREPARATION started.
- VTS_01: 2,458,980 sectors.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V file
-- Processed 151,441 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
- Reduction level for DVD-5 90.2%
- Overall bitrate : 5,302Kbs
- Space for Video : 4,087,996KB
- HIGH/LOW/AVERAGE Cell Bitrates: 5,674/4,373/5,302 Kbs
[15:13:20] Phase I, PREPARATION completed in 5 minutes.
The resulted VIDEO_TS folder is more than 5GB.
So please experts help me. I did everything correct as you see above.
What went wrong?
Sorry about long post but I've tried to give detailed info as much as possible.
Thanks for folks doing this program and running this forum and giving answers to people like me.

@ Sophocles
Just this morning I updated DVDRB to the latest version which was released today. Also got a hold of the DGDecode.dll and used it and I the program has being going solid for the past 3 & 1/2 hours and with the pass almost done I received the same error again. I'll delete the .inf file, as well as the AviSynth program to the latest build and start from scratch and keep everyone posted.
Also I have a question, I have my HD split up. Would this have a negative effect if the file being worked on is on a seperate partition than DVDRB?
Okay here is an update, updated all programs and the directories are as they should be with the latest software of DVDRB & AviSynth. I chose I 3 pass encode to see if it'll encode correctly and I came across this error.

That means you have a problem with your .AVS file. The 764x56 output is AVISYNTH trying to output the error message in a video window. Use Windows Media Player and open the .AVS file directly -- it will tell you which line in the .AVS file is causing the error.

@davak, you only completed the first phase, you have to do the "encode" phase to compress the VideoTS folder (and files) to a Blank DVD-/+R

I uninstalled avisynth and wiped any registry entries made by the program, reinstalled avisynth and the 3 pass encode worked. I'll try more passes while I'm in class tomorrow and see if it goes just as well. Also just a rough estimate, by how much percent is the new DGDecode.dll faster compared to the older version?
Curious.

Sorry it took so long getting back to you but then with jdobbs you're in good hands. I don't think that there's an accurate measure of speed gains made by the updated DGDecode.dll, and understandably so. Systems are not matched evenly for speed to begin with which would result in a time variation with or without DGDecode.dll.
I've heard claims that vary from 20 minutes to nearly 40 minutes saved but I couldn't tell you if they're true or not. I mostly do batch encodes and I don't really have a need to observe time which passes while I sleep.
Good luck to you.

Curious.
Don't know about percentage but it's about 30 minutes quicker on my PC, which is quite a bit when you're talking about 3 1/2 to 4 hour times from start to finish :>)

Hi Pop_Smith
Thanks for reply.
But I did go through all 3 phases.
(Prepare phase doesn't create VIDEO_TS folder right?)
I just copy-pasted first phase log because I thought 1st phase is more informative.
Space for Video : 4,087,996KB
Does it mean my VIDEO_TS folder size will be 4,087,996KB + Audio size (maybe around 400,000KB) = 4.7GB?
Seems like correct to me. But created VIDEO_TS folder is more than 5GB.
I'm looking forward to any solution to this.
Thanks
have you looked at my .ini file configuration?
is it right?

It seems you've somehow got overlooked. The information we gave to HKT3020, also applies to you. I'm betting there's an error in your setup.
I've noticed that you have eclcce in the same folder as CCE SP trial. Try placing it in the same folder as DVD RB. Read the instructions from Vurbal's guide below.
Quote: If you decide to use CCE SP trial you'll need to have a third party program called EclCCE so the trial software can read the ECL (CCE settings) files created by DVD Rebuilder. You can find EclCCE with instructions on this thread from Doom9: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46664 You'll also need to change the CCE version in the Options menu to CCE SP 2.67+ and go into Setup (where you set the path to CCE Basic), and set the path for CCE SP (New) to the location of EclCCE.exe. Make sure you don't set it to the actual CCE executable because that won't work for the trial version. Make sure you also change the CCE version (on the Options menu under CCE Options) to CCE SP v.2.66+. After that you can use the rest of this guide normally.(Vurbals AD guide)
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_rebuilder_tutorial.cfm
Instructions from Doom9
If you use CCE SP 2.50, or CCE SP 2.66/2.67 demo, you'll need EclCCE. Unpack EclCCE anywhere you like, then start it. All you get to see is a file open dialogue. Select your CCE SP demo executable and press OK. This will launch CCE SP, and this concludes the CCE SP installation.

I'll take a shot at this. This worked for me so it might work for you as well, download and install the latest DVDRB program along with the latest version of AviSynth and use the latest decoder. It should work without any hiccups once it's setup correctly.
Additional post, setup everything as it should be. Latest DVDRB, AviSynth, decoder but same error message still appears. I have no idea what gives.

Hi
Thanks for advices, but still no luck. (size is bigger than 4.7GB)
Yeas, The most of my tools are latest public releases.
DVD-RB 0.66a
AviSynth 1.5
DGDecode.dll
CCE SP 2.50 Trial
eclCCE 1.81 for CCE SP 2.66/2.67 trial
is there eclCCE for CCE SP 2.50 Trial?
DVD-RB Setup menu changes in every release, so instructions doesn't match anymore.
I assumed CCE SP 2.67++ and CCE SP (New) becomes CCE SP in version 0.66a.
- I installed eclCCE in the same folder as DVD-RB
- eclCCE points to CCE SP 2.50 Trial
- in the setup menu, Path to CCE SP points to eclCCE.exe, Path to Decoder points to DGDecode.dll
- Dynamically assign Cell Bitrates is checked
- In CCE Option, CCE SP is checked
- Also ConvertToYUY2 and MPEG2Source are checked.
I used RB-Opt 0.15 to check the size.
It says DVD Estimated size 4424mb.
But created VIDEP_TS folder size is over 5.2GB
Is it maybe because of eclCCE version?
Does anyone know eclCCE for CCE-SP 2.50 trial?
Thank you

Newer versions of ECLCCE should work fine with 2.50, but the option you should be selecting in CCE Options is CCE SP (v2.50).

I have tried using DVD2SVCD to create a DVD from an AVI encoded with OpenDivx v4 (and audio AC3 DVM). I have no trouble when using my TMPGEnc encoder (which I bought) except the audio isn't supported, but I downloaded the trial version of CCE and have a couple of problems I can't explain:
1. The aspect ratio of the output is changed from the original. TMPGEnc makes the output aspect ratio identical to what it looks like when I use MediaPlayer to replay the AVI file, but using the CCE trial, there are wide borders at the edges, and the output seems horizontally "squished". I looked in the DVD2SVCD options, and tried disabling borders, but that didn't change anything. The input is 576*432, the output should be 720x480. My guess is that CCE doesn't do the pixel math very good. Or very well.
2. CCE output causes a color change from the MediaPlayer and TMPGEnc versions. It seems the blue color is missing, kind-of.
Are these "features", like the CCE logo, of the trial version, or is something else going on, and I have to use CCE from its control panel independently of DVD2SVCD?
Thanks for inputs!

This thread was started to help discover difficulties that might occur when using DVD Rebuilder and CCE. Your question is off topic but since you're here, why don't you try CCE with DVD Rebuilder and see how things come out.:)
