why would it? psu is upside down so its not taking in any heat, and the rad is dispersing the heat

Have you tried your USB drive in a USB hub?
Personally I think having a 40mm fan drop chipset temps by 10 degrees implies a problem with airflow through the case, which is normal if you're going for silence, and if you are, you can just leave the chipset unsinked, having them run that warm doesn't cause any problems.
Sam,
The problem is the NB and the CPU cooler are so close that if you accidentally face it the wrong way, and manage to throw the lever, you can cut yourself to shreds getting it off again! Just ask Fred! :o) I did recently say that I planed another 15 CFM of airflow by moving the 53 CFM FN121 to the front intake and replacing it with a 68 CFM Scythe Slipstream at the back exhaust. You also have to keep in mind that air is a lot like electricity and water, in that it takes the path of least resistance. You can't get that much of a breeze going through such a small space. Add the Video card in the 16x slot, and the NB is surrounded by heat. All a 25 mm fan will do is help spread the heat, for the air that does move from front to back to pick up more easily. on the P35, the Freezer 7 actually overhung the NB Heat sink. I had barely enough room to add the fan to the NB heatsink, as it just barely cleared the CPU cooler. The motherboard temps dropped like a brick!
NZXT had a pretty good idea when they added fans inside the case to aid the front to rear airflow. What they need is a fan that's mounted on something flexible, so it could be directed in a particular direction and angle. It wouldn't add to the case pressure, only the strength of the airflow from the fan location on. It would help direct the air along, where you need it most. That's another reason I'm a fan of Negative case pressure. It makes the static vents work harder, which overall gives you more airflow than Positive pressure would. I know people will argue that, but if you have positive case pressure, your static air vents aren't doing very much to aid cooling, just relieving pressure from the case, and misdirecting and stagnating airflow inside the case.
Hell, I must be doing something right. The case stays cleaner inside, and there no whiskers growing in any of the usual places, like around the optical drives, or the bay openings. I am going to put the Scythe on the back and try it before I put the FN121 in the front, and see how it cools. The best cooling case I've ever seen is the "T" series eMachines. They have phenomenal cooling with a Freezer 64 on the CPU, replacing the garbage cooler that came with it. Russell's idles in the low 20s, and never exceeds 46C, all with a single 80mm rear 33 CFM fan! The case looks like swiss cheese behind the front cover, but all those holes promote good airflow. They even fold the IDE cable for the ODD in a way where it doesn't affect the case airflow at all, and it's most definitely negative pressure, with no intake fan or a place to put one. It's a brilliant cooling case! I didn't even need to put a fan on the chipset, like I had to with the original motherboard. Of course I threw out the memory and the PSU, as well as the CPU cooler. I put a Thermaltake 500w PSU, and 2x2GB of 800 MHz GSkill in it. With the 65w 7750BE in it, it runs great!

Shaff,
Yup, you can do that when you have a passive cooler like it shows in your sig! ROFLMSOAO!!
You didn't think I was going to miss that, did you? :0)

Is there room for a "side intake" fan on the case?? If so I'd install one today!! :p
Haven't ordered yet, there's no rush on the weekend since no one will ship XD

Because I'm lazy and can't remember (CRS disease) ... what case do you have Red_Maw?
lian-li A77F (I got my "faulty" one for a lot less, I'm not that insane ;P)
There's no side intake, and I'm not adding one lol. I've considered raising the airflow in the case but that would involve using some high cfm fans, and we all know the drawbacks to that.

Red_Maw... ok looked at your case and you better not have paid that much!! :p Anyway I'm afraid that you'll have to do something to better your flow if you wanna get it "cooler" than it is... Russ's option is pretty good... what about one of these??

That's an idea, thanks GM. Before buying anything I'm going to see if I can mount a spare 80mm fan to achieve the desired effect; with a few zip ties and some ingenuity it might just work XD

Antec Spot Cool
GM,
The problem with the Spot Cool, is the fan head size. It's 89mm! Even with the goose-neck, it would be very difficult to get close enough to the problem to be effective. I've tried 80mm fans in similar fashion as the spot cool, and they aren't very effective at all. His biggest problem is the CPU cooler. It's just too damn long and wide, and is so close to the rear exhaust fan that some of the cooler's airflow goes under the exhaust fan and bounces off the lower rear of the case, back at the cooler, VRMs and the NB. It's very hard to alter the course of the airflow when the maximum flow of air is so close to the exhaust. Another problem with the NH-D14, is it's two coolers, each of which is supported only by the pipes in opposite directions. All that weight is just cantilevered off of the cooler's base plate, with a 120mm hanging on the rear, and a 140mm hanging on the front, adding more weight and vibration. It should have a brace between the two sections of the cooler. It's biggest problem though, is it's length of 160mm and it's width of 140mm, which brings it way too close to the rear exhaust fan, and butts it right up against the Northbridge heatsink. If I had to live with it, I would move the rear exhaust to the outside of the case, just to give the cooler air a little room to expand a bit so the case will exhaust more effectively.
As far as a thinner 40mm goes, thicker isn't a problem, as there should be more than enough room to put the Antec vertically on the front side of the heatsink. I've effectively used velcro tape and stuck one right to the MB. The Antec is the slowest of the 40mm fans at 2200 RPM, yet moves more air than it's closest competitor does at 5000 RPM, and is virtually inaudible doing it! Of course you could go real crazy and get one of those Sunon 19,000 24+ CFM fans to do the job. It's only 59.9 dBA! LOL!! Just don't forget to factor in the cost of a pair of E.A.R. plugs! LOL!! Whatever fan he chooses, he still needs to find a cooler that doesn't take up as much space. I would also recommend taking the aluminum cover off of the top of the NB cooler. The cover is held on by double sided thermal tape, so it comes off very easily! They look pretty but they trap more heat than they help remove! I've removed both of mine, and my MB temps rarely get to 40C!
Best Regards,
Russ

I've thought of that, but I really don't want to buy another air cooler. If money permits I'll move to water cooling for the cpu this summer and say good by to all these problems lol (and hello to a bunch more XD).

I would'en know what you would think of this one.I was reading the reviews people was getting out of this cooler with the new C3's chips that . i could find it seems to me all the new C3's are at 46c to 47c straight out the box with the stock cooler and the 3 pipe after marker cooler as well but after having the 3 pipe Artic 64 hooked up and dropping the 4 pipe Cooler Master on it helped by 12 degree drop:) Good Luck Greensman on your choice!!!

Well right or wrong this is what I have coming now... dang you BigWilly... my money is disappearing quicker than I wanted it too... lol. I'll use the TX3 on another "smaller" build for me parents... they is getting one of my 939 Dual Cores now.. :) Prolly the 4200 as it's the newest of the 2 and in a mini tower.. easier for the them to move about and stuff. ;)

I'm trying to wear out my current burners LOL! Moneys kind of tight right now. Though I just bought the Corsair HX750. I need the sata connections, as well as a lot of power for future Graphics processing ;) A lot of you may think its overkill, but I see quite the gem looking at its capabilities and warranty :D

Well, depends how much it cost. In the UK at least, the HX 750W is almost identically priced to the ZM850-HP.

2 extra molexes, 100W more, same price, and unlike the Corsair, the ZM850-HP is effectively inaudible even when pushing 700W plus. The ZM850-HP is amazing. The only downside is that it uses 8+8+6+6 for the graphics connectors, not 8+8+8+8 like the Corsair. This is only an issue when using three physical cards or more, or when you have an 8+8 card and a crossfire/SLI array (rare - no reference card has ever used 8+8).
