The cheapo AMD cooler that come with lesser CPUs have a 9 blade fan that moves a good bit of air and works great for cooling the chipset that way. It fits snug without needing anything to hold it down. The one that comes with the Phenom II has 7 smaller blades and moves less air, because of the small space between the fins needing less airflow. The ones from the cheap AMD coolers work great, move a good deal more air, and are very quiet since the space is so open. I'm going to put a long zip tie slipped under the mount and loop it around the fan so it won't ever fall out.

That part is very impressive. I wouldn't mind one myself. I'm just not used to hearing certain terminologies. E.g. MySQL. I better get used to it LOL! ;)
3Kjodo, I haven't started cooling my chipset yet...

thought ya wanted to spec fan for that which all I know is a 9 bladed cheapo cmd heatsink cooler from afore mentioned post if yer referring to a fan for somewhere else then woops heh

Oman7,
I'm using the stock fan from the 630 Quad. It's not the heatpipe cooler, jusr an aluminum block. It has a high airflow 9 blade fan. Very aggressive, while the 4 pipe cooler that comes with the Phenom II uses a 7 bladed fan and doesn't move as much air. I guess it's because of the narrow fin spacing on the heatpipe cooler. You can try it, as it won't hurt anything. If it's too loose, just slip a zip tie under the metal mount and go completely around the fan's outsides to hold it in place.
You are slipping! LOL!! The fan's measurements are right there in the last post I sent you 70mmx15mm or 2.75"x 19/32".

All you said was what my fans look like :p You didn't specify that that's what you're using :p
Sorry about off topic, but I discovered that my stereo fan is just fine. It would appear to me now, that the stereo kicks on the fan, as it sees fit. Since I only have 2 5" speakers ran to it, it doesn't get hot enough to require the fan. Perhaps when I hook up my subwoofer tonight xD

Unfortunately creaky, I wouldn't have the luxury of personal experience :P - Depends on the price tag for the PCIE SSDs really. I wonder if TRIM works with that card, could be a bit of a dealbreaker.

Oman7,
You must have missed the post because I said I was using the fan from the 630 Quad, which is a plain Jane cheepie Aluminum block cooler that is shipped with all but the more expensive AMD CPUs. Those fans are excellent for use with the ECO for chipset cooling. Like I said, I have two, you are welcome to one of them. They work great for the intended purpose. I pulled the fan from the 4 piper that came with my 955, and it's thicker than the one from the cheap AMD cooler. It doesn't fit down in next to the pump. That's why he had to mount it the way he did! It's 70x70x20mm. The 70x70x15mm slips right in. Like I said I have to go the post office as soon as the check for the build I'm doing for a friend gets here, so It's yours if you want it.

It's finally up and running. Going to take a couple days to figure out how much the temps dropped but right now it isn't looking like they dropped (~10-13C) as much as I was hoping :( There's no guarantee that the ETI is applied properly either, so it's going to be hard to figure this out. The entire setup is dead silent though so that's a definite plus.

Yah, in my opinion, I find the coolit to be moderately impressive as far as temperatures. However, silence is a major plus! It's way quieter now without the Tuniqs fan. The tuniqs fan was doing 1700, and now I have a 1200 and a 1800 and they're quieter. Quite nice! I wish I had a reliable way of testing my ambient temperatures. Gonna have to find a convenient stylish digital thermometer ;)

Gee, I have a handy. non stylish wall thermometer about 8" long, with red liquid in it that says Handy Temp. Must be 40-50 years old. I also have a Wexler Scientific Mercury thermometer about 5" long, that agrees with the 40-50 year old one. Ah for the good old days and quality! LOL!! I have a stylish Digital Desk Clock/Thermometer as well, and all three agree that it's 82F in here at the moment. The old one was free as a give-away with a purchase at a local hardware store. The Wexler I bought about 22 years ago for $20. The Desk Clock/Thermometer was $30 about a year ago. Ain't progress great? :)

LOL! Whatever works eh. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with red or mercury based thermometers. I just like modern technology is all. I suppose one of each couldn't hurt. That way if both are reading the same temperature, there's a good chance that they're both working properly ;)

Eh no old mercury thermometers here. But I do have a small thermistor pad with a front bay display panel(from a very old case), and an expensive infrared my dad uses for cars. Both work a treat too and with good accuracy :)

Deadrum33, that's a pretty interesting thermometer! I was unaware of such technologies. I suppose such technologies are quite handy though ;) E.g. measuring the temperature of extremely hot liquids(molten steel). Though it looks like devices that can measure freakishly high temperatures are freakishly expensive! LOL! Looks like there are affordable solutions though. Could be a fun toy xD

Oman7,
They have been around for a long time. They first saw use in the Heating and AC industry to detect air leaks in Ventilation systems in Hotels and other large buildings. The first one I ever saw was an attachment to a Simpson VOM. The real expansive ones, even show the distance, useful for creating a map of places needing repairs, using the duct work blueprints from the building.

Well. I slapped my $22 dollar Board & Cpu combo together last night in it's pretty new case from micro center for $20 buck also nothing special just something for my niece she just wanted some real cheap.I had the board & cpu just laying around anyway it beats a blank.I used a few old parts just laying around as well a hard drive WD160 & a dvdrom and burner everything is new did some testing and some bumping.lol
impressed about the little celeron
come to find you cant get at the present something came up so it's on the block first come first serve for $200 the Os alone is worth 200 Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
this board will and can take 800 ram also but will only handle the max cpu of the E7600 it's 1066fsb board but you see. i got it running at 1095 with just a low end Celeron chip singel core at that. I do like the case for something simple to slap together and the lighting that's mixed in with the power lighting and Hdd lighting is nice.A bunch of people was getting this case for a simple build yesterday and. I find nothing wrong with that for $20 bucks and it cools well as you can see a Gigabyte case housing at Biostar board...liking it
Done out of Here!

I'm gonna be modifying my brothers HTPC this week, and am wondering if the following is the best 80mm fan that can be had, for low noise, and high CFM. noise seems to be the main factor for him. But I don't want to simply sacrifice air flow, to go easier on the ears LOL!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835220024
The following HTPC is what I'm working with:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811121027
I'm strongly considering SOMEHOW modifying the top area, to support a 120mm 1200rpm Scythe to intake air, and go with a super quiet 80mm exhaust. But I would prefer not have to modify, if there is an 80mm exhaust fan that can do the job, without making the ears suffer LOL!
I guess the main question is, What would you do? ;)

Oman7,
No offense to your brother, but that's a poorly designed case, in terms of airflow. The Silverstone will not work in that case either, as it's a 92mm fan on an 80mm frame. It doesn't fit in the space provided by the case, because the fan needs to be flat in order to fit the case. There's no room for the round part to fit. Unfortunately the front fan is an exhaust, so the noise will be right out the front of the case. Needing a true 80mm fan limits the airflow to about 32 CFM or so, at about 2500 rpm. The stones move the air they do, only because of the 92mm blade. Don't even believe Evercool or Silenx specs for their dBA ratings, because they flat lie!. He would be far better off with a case that can handle at least a 92mm fan, then you could install one of these.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835220023
I've used both it and the one you posted, and this one is quieter moving the same amount of air at a lower rpm. Noise wise, they are reasonably quiet up to about 1500-1600 rpm. The case severely limits what you can use for a CPU cooler as well, being just under 4" tall. You should be able to use the 4 pipe cooler that came with your 965, as it should be able to fit in that case. I hope he's not looking to overclock it either, because there won't be enough airflow to adequately handle the heat.
Best Regards,
Russ
