Quote: 1920x1200 is native widescreen at a 16:10 aspect ratio. i am not having any problems playing widescreen.
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/for...p=143018#143018
Download the tool and follow the instructions. Just run it and leave it running when you play FC2. You'll see exactly what I mean. You can see so much more of the world and it feels a lot less confined :)
Quote: Not really the point, the game renders at 1920x1200, but it's actually a cut down version of a render that should be larger, for instance 1920x1440.
Exactly, so instead of a true 16:10 or 16:9 widescreen display, you get a 4:3 display with the top and bottom chopped off.
Quote: Just like with all the stuff about BioShock.
Correct. It's the same exact thing that happened with Bioshock. That also had a similar fix as well IIRC.

Glad to help :)
Yes, Bioshock had the same issue. It WOULD look fine because the image is not really distorted. But the right aspect ratio will let you see so much more
Honestly, the first time I played FC2, I thought it looked like crap, was visually suffocating, and was poorly made. But after that fix was applied, I think it is one of the best looking and playing games to come out in a while. It's little flaws like that that can ruin a game.
I only wish you didn't get attacked by everyone and his brother every time you pass a road checkpoint :)
Also, the AI is better at some stuff than the guys in Crysis. I was just sniping and when the first guy dropped all the others scattered and ran into some buildings. And they DON'T pop their heads out like in Crysis, lol.
Also, will be playing Dead Space soon. Tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Be honest people. Are we really paying $50 a pop for every new game that comes out? My family is poor and I make $600 every 2 weeks. I am a constant visitor to mininova and The Bay ;P Though, honestly, I do eventually end up buying most of them once the price drops.

i agree that does get annoying. but you should try to find new and interesting ways to kill the people. like shooting gas containers next to them, running them over, or stabbing them in the back. you can go around some of these is you are going all the way across the map by following the railroad tracks.

Dude get it on the 360 then. It's very good. I know you have a modded xbox 360.
If there is a fast way of sharing files I can send you the files for dead space. I know torrents are slow.

yes, i can get a full game in 2-3 hours and that is using torrents. the only problem is there end up being too many seeders and it is hard to seed it all back to get my ratio back.

you get a newsreader, which reads the binaries, needing to be downloaded from newsgroups (aka the rars) these news groups are hosted on servers, normally with a 90 day retention of the binaries, and when you download, its straight from the server, so you max out your dld speed.
you normally have to pay for a news server and they will have the best most popular news groups with the newest binaries etc. binaries get realeases, which are then turned into torrents by people.
the better news servers have over 200 days retentions, and encrypted downloads, so your ISP cannot see what is being downloaded. and they support over 90% of all binary newsgroups.

The mouse is delayed in Dead Space, due to the direct analogue stick to mouse conversion. However, once you get used to it it's fine, and the ability to use a mouse still makes the game more playable than with a gamepad.
Usenet is nice, but expensive. When you realise what you can get off private torrent trackers, once you get a good ratio, usenet doesn't seem so appealing.

What's the point of such a high FPS? I always thought that 40FPS was fine for me. If I got more than that then I would turn up the settings. Plus REALLY high FPS creates tearing of the image on my monitor.
Hmm, I'm transferring 50GB of data from my old laptop to my new one. God, XP and Vista dont work so well toghether! I can only do a wirless network between them. This is going to take SIXTEEN HOURS!!!

I don't think MMOs require that much power. Which specific one?
Honestly if I was on a budget and I wanted to make a gaming rig I would buy an E5200, HD4850, and a GA-EP45-DS3L with a Earthwatts 380 and call it a day.
Of course if you have some money to spend I would recommend gettin a Q6600 for the CPU.

boozer, 40FPS is a little laggy man. play at 60FPS, anythign lower seems laggy, well single players not so much, but multiplayers do, and online 60FPD is a minimum for ideal gameplay.

IMHO most games run fine for me at 30 frames, some games even at 25
Everything was maxed out on HL2 and that is what I'm getting
Curiously there seems to be some sort of lag, is this the tearing you are referring to boozer???
And how could I fix it

40fps is fine for games like Crysis and for RTSs, but for Far Cry 2 it's poor, GRiD it's unpleasant, and UT it's almost unplayable. Aim for 60, no less. Getting 299fps in CounterStrike at 2560x1600 8xAA is kind of funny though... :P

I get between 25-30 FPS in grid and it's ok
I had to crank far cry 2 settings down to medium at 1280x800 to get 25-40 FPS in the benchmark tool, I'll see how it is when actually playing
