i heard that microsoft is waiting for the ps3 to drive the price of a blue ray drive down but i dont how you would install it on a 360. so that sounds like a difficult course of action. to say the least

1. PS3 is targeted at $400
2. Sony owns the rights to blu-ray with a few other companies, are they goign to allow a competing console to have it? No, Microsoft will never have it in the Xbox 360, it will never be liscensed.
PS3 will run linux, the 360 will have a locked up media center OS, not much like windows but similar. They still want to sell computers you know.
The price tells you everything, for $100 more, the PS3 will provide the superior power. What developers do, and sales will be no reflection of that however. Come on, everyone is still goignt o stick to their brand. Anandtech has plenty of analysis and tech talk, to put the 360 to shame, check it out.
Fanboy is a term used to describe someone who is utterly devoted to a single subject. This generally is followed by the devotion and support even when proved wrong.
Anecdotal, by my definition, it's the way too many people here think. It's also all the evidence you have.
Xbox 360 GT: NEGATIVE 273K
My advice: Wait for PS3.

The Ps3 as preposed, processor will be twice the speed of the xbox 360 according to the sony coverage at E3. the graphics on both systems will be about the same even with different card companies. Xbox 360 is focusing on the online aspect of gaming a lot more I think than the hardware components and you can see that by them dropping the HD-dvd technology from the system. But I don't see where they are going with that because there only 2 million people are on xbox live with over 60 million consoles out there. The Ps3 does not want to be the slowest running or the farthest behind in tech side of the system as they were last time. The Ps3 is focusing almost to much on the tech side though by talking about shiping it as computer instead of a gaming console. But after all of that It is still all about the games and as long as sony has most of the developers support I will continue to go with the Ps3

Ok, ok, before you post something that difefrs from something else already posted, have some proof. And I am goign to do just that, right now, like I have to on a regular basis.
The PS3 will kick the Xbox 360's ass in every department we have specs for, not just the spec sheet, but inside groups. Like those provided in the links. These come from authors who sat behind closed doors at E3 and the like. The online aspect is one we don't know what SOny is doing for.

PS3, will always be a gaming console, but it's time to up the ante with the option for an OS. You don't know who's focusing on what, you don't, give me links if you think you have some actual evidence to support any of that crap.

Hey, I'm too lazy to read all this crap, but I just wanted to throw MY drunken slur in there lol. I think that with the graphics now days, it is becoming too good. I am not sure which system has better graphics, and I am not asking for an answer. The graphics in these machines are going to be so realistic, that I wonder if the graphics really matter as much as the designers think. Sure, its nice to be able to count blades of grass while you make this dude hit a ball. But why do we need these?? I am almost tempted to say the 32-bit or even 16-bit graphics are better than any other technology today. People are focusing less and less on teh actual gameplay and more on the bells and whistles. I think it is wonderful that we have the technology, but when games look more realistic than life itself, I will be playing a PS2 or maybe even just a plain old Playstation. I know you can count the pixels in it, so what lol.

I agree with razor mainly because I am a rpg player and simply put, I prefer to play my old rpg's over the new ones because they all focus only on graphics while the also did in the past, the stories seemed to be much better 8-10 years ago than they are now. That is just my opinion and until some game companies get that we will have more and more driver 3's in the world and less good solid game play games

Sony and Microsoft might end in like 5-10 years...Look at the big N, they are struggling like crazy, and sooner or later the big N will end up like Sega, and Sony and Microsoft (gaming industry) will be just like that unless they can improve the gameplay and stuff (controllers and smoothness) and keep making graphics better, because kids these days are attrated to good graphics.

Jumping into the gaming industry is hard, it's only easy to get kicked out of it. Sony and Microsoft are the new big players, and will be the only two for a long time. Until Nintendo realizes the importance of online gaming they'll be taking a backseat market share. There is no big N anymore, it's time to face that one.

I totally disagree the Nintendo Gamecube was completely successful and in fact sold better than xbox in Japan and the asian market. Also don't forget that Nintendo is the number one seller when it comes to the hand held market with the Game Boy. I also really don't think that online capability games are that important right now, but will be in the future though. Come on only about 10-20% of the console market play games consistently online.

Yeah but you gotta admit that there is a lot of room for improvment the gamecube didn't have many games that had online gameplay(mabye 1 or 2) which is a must have for me after playin on live but the DVD didn't really bother me cause i have like 5 dvd players in my house but still the revolution has to be at least on par with the other consoles to get any attention in america.

Nintendo is third to Sony and Microsoft in market share, that's all that matters buddy. Last place is last place.

I am just saying that even at last place nintendo is still making money and has not had to do any thing drastic to change there market. I know, I grew up loving what nintendo brought to the market in the past but now most of us have just moved on and would rather play the more mature titles. If nintendo does want to recapture any hope of a more adult audience they have to start focusing on more mature legend of zelda's and resident evil and stop working on their precious mario, who has been way over used.

i believe the 360 is going to be better than the ps3. graphics don't really bother me that much nor do the power and speed of the consoles. gameplay is what im looking for and so far 360 has the edge there. hell gameplay for original xbox was better. it had better games. ps2 used to have its gran turismo to brag about, but then Forza came and schooled them. and what was really funny was ps2's so called "halo killer". omg that was a pathetic game. the story didn't even interest me. only thing the sony has going for it is the rpg's, and im not real interested in those either. then again 360 has Elder Scrolls: Oblivion so ya. we'll just have to see.

HA HA HAAAAAA every one is crazy!!!
All 3 consols are going to be so close in power you wont tell the difference! ok the PS3 can do 1.8 TFLOPS 1800000000000 floating operations per second, this is almost twice of what the 360 can do.
But knowing Sony all the specs are hyped up.
500 polygons/s my ass!! my ATI FIRE GL can do 35 Mil per second with
phong shading and lighting with no textures, BUT GAMES these days will have textures, bump mapping, multiple lighting , phone and more,, so the XBOX and PS3 is looking at 20 Million INGAME polygons per second!
Nintendo will do roughly the same!
The Xbox will be easier for developers to deal with,, Nintendos will be developer friendly. PS3 means that developers will have to work harder!
NVIDIA will always push more shaded polygons then ATI!! Xbox (ATI) will compete with the revolution (ATI)!
But the revolution will sell better then expected,,,its small and it looks good plus its shiny so it will appeal to eveyone! PS3 is a huge piece of ,,,,,, Xbox is trying to be cool aiming at people who watch MTV 24/7!!!!!
CONCLUSION!!!!! you wont tell the difference between the graphics of any of them!

Honestly you have nothing to back that crap up. Go above and read my links smartass, skimming through a few should tell you enough. Nintendo is going for a cheaper system, you will notice a difference.

Here's what I've been thinking, maybe people should quit worring which ones will be better and just wait and find out. I mean, if you think about it, nobody knows which one will be better. Sure, one is faster than the other, but what if the programmers take advantage of this extra power and don't look as hard for memory leaks. Maybe they will be so confident that the console will compensate, they will put less effort into the game. I think it is nice that we will have faster load times and absolutely beautiful graphics, and I've even heard rumors of surround sound, but, my point persists. We are worrying instead of waiting. I hope Sony and Microsoft and even Nintendo all wait until the release date and then throw on an extended deadline. The three consoles are all expected to be realeased on the same day, and the hype continues to build as people wonder and wonder which one will be better. Eventually they are released and everyone realizes, they aren't all you thought they would be. Think about it, the thing you want the worst is the one thing you can't have;)

the systems aren't supposed to be released at the same time. XB360 is being released in november, the Ps3 is going to be released spring 06 and no one really knows when the Rev is going to be released.
Get your facts right or shut up!

OK...Chamonofx, I would like to thank you for asking a simple question, about my previous post. As to you xboxfool...Take your own advice and shut up.
That was a hypothetical situation, what I meant was that they would all suffer a delay and then be planned to be released on the same date. Read it again and see if it makes sense.

Hey children behave, its not about when their released, its the order of release! now these big ass companies do their research on the public reaction to WAITING!! and some people like waiting because mentally they believe the last is the best!
360 comes out first!!! wow look at thoes graphics!!! wow i can surf the net yady yady yah!!!!!
PS3 comes out and eveyones like " Yep i cant tell the difference in graphics but its SONY,i have to get one, i like SONY coz the word is easy to pronounce"
By now everyone can tell that both machines are exactly the same!
Then nintendo brings their sh!t out and everyones like "Dam, look at the controllers thats some different sh!t there,,,it will look good in my room"
I think Nintendo will make the biggest impression, eventually all the 3 consols with have graphics too similar!!!
