Yes, I read it & chose to ignore it, since that page is from a January 2006 press release, and subsequent press releases have omitted any mention of online modes.
I've got a Final press release from gamespress.com dated September 2006 to post, which actually confirms the removal of online. Watch this space!

Quote: Pro Evolution Soccer kicks off!
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH confirms October 27th launch date for the eagerly-awaited PES6 in Europe
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has confirmed that it will launch the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD versions of its highly anticipated Pro Evolution Soccer 6 on October 27th, with the PSP? (PlayStation®Portable) and Nintendo DS versions to follow shortly after.
The Konami football game enters its sixth incarnation with an unrivalled reputation for realistic and gripping gameplay. Key improvements to Pro Evolution Soccer 6 include new player AI with team mates running into space more intelligently, while the physical nature of the sport has also been enhanced with new turns and defensive blocks to learn, alongside closing down unmarked opponents.
The shooting system has also been refined, and players will be able to attempt more snap shots than in previous versions, while volleys and half-volleys have been reworked. It is also now possible to retain control of the ball after performing a sliding tackle, while all-new feints and backwards dribbling are now possible thanks to the improved dribbling controls. Coupled with the series? famed realism, the result is a more flowing and fluid game with all the movement and pace of the real thing.
Konami?s has also added a raft of new licensed sides to Pro Evolution Soccer 6, and all versions will include the fully-licensed kits and squads for the Czech, French, Australian, English, Italian, Argentinian, Spanish and Swedish national sides. Similarly, the French Ligue 1 Orange has been added to the game, alongside key European sides such as Sporting Lisbon, Benfica, Olympiacos Piraeus, and Manchester United.
Another key addition to the October launch, is Pro Evolution Soccer 6?s first appearance for a Next Generation format. Released alongside the established PlayStation 2 version, the Xbox 360 game features massively improved visuals and audio effects, while the player AI is also noticeably improved as Producer Shingo ?Seabass? Takatsuka and his team flex their skills using the 360 system?s advanced capabilities.
Unfortunately, these enhancements to the gameplay and game engine have meant that online play will not be available in Konami's latest incarnation of the popular franchise due to, among other things, memory restrictions in most of the major consoles.
?This is the date all football fans have been waiting for,? commented Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. ?October 27th will see established Pro Evolution Soccer fans looking to get their hands on the latest version, while we are delighted to be bringing the first Next Generation version to Xbox 360 users, and taking the many delights of Pro Evolution Soccer to an all-new audience. The season truly starts here ? and, despite the omission of any online features due to the team's concentration on key improvements to the game engine and fluidity of the title, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will once again top the table of the football genre.?

Okay, you're right. I forgot, you work for Konami, in fact, no, you own Konami, and know more than Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. lol
The cover for Need For Speed Most Wanted also said online play before it was released, but did that have online play? NO!
Believe whatever you want, but in the real world, Konami have confirmed there's NO online play!

Yeah, cos the XBox360 is more likely to run out of memory before the PS2 will! lol.
If anything, it would be XBox360 that has online play, and NOT the other way round.

That website isn't an official press website. Its a site made by fans & they take pieces of info from other sources, which could be weeks/months old.
The site I quoted is the official Bible of the gaming industry. Its where the majority of the magazines you read get their info from, and has NEVER been wrong about anything yet.
Don't get me wrong, I hope they do manage to find some way to include online play too, but at this late stage, with an official FINAL press release from the end of September & the game due 27th October, it is highly unlikely.
You can only go by official up-to-date press releases by the company, and not speculation or suggestive 'interviews' with people from Konami, which could of been quoted from months ago, before they realised that online play was a no-go.

1. The article covers ALL console & PC releases
2. Quote: Unfortunately, these enhancements to the gameplay and game engine have meant that online play will not be available in Konami's latest incarnation of the popular franchise due to, among other things, memory restrictions in most of the major consoles.
confirms no online on because of 'memory restrictions in most of the major consoles'. The 360 is far more powerful than the PS2, so if 360 wasn't to have online, then PS2 definately wouldn't. As it stands, none of them do.
3. You don't have a clue what you're on about! You thought Sega's J-League Soccer was the same as Konami's WE/PE Soccer.
I aint gonna argue the toss over this any more. Konami have confirmed NO online play for consoles. Face the facts. The press releases state so, and that's the company line.
Look at what Ken Kutaragi 'said' would be in the PS3, only for subsequent official press releases to dismiss that info, and he's Sony President!

No. Unless they're very old & don't use DNA$ authentication, or specifically say on them that they have HDD support (which is about 3 games)

Yes, a game which has yet to be released & is the first WE game with the words 'J-League' in it. Which is NOT what you were refering to, and you know it!
Love the way some people try to cover up their mistakes, rather than offer up a simple apology!
EDIT: Oh! btw, has anyone here read the latest edition of the UK magazine "PSM3"?
They've got the first official review of Pro Evolution Soccer 6. You guys should read it. But before you do, you might be requiring these...
