Well I dunno about all the other ones but the WXP Autoupdate does use background bandwidth (in fact there is a service dedicated to that!) :-)

No thanks on your offer for two reasons: 1) I'm not gay 2) Your mom bite of your left nut, and your dad is still working of the right one and I'm sure your sister will get to the rest after your dads done with you.
Get a life idiot. If you want me to upload faster so you can download faster, why don't you buy me a fast dsl connection and pay the monthly bills and then you can download faster from me. Or you can go back to number 2 because we can't keep your sister waiting since your dad is taking too long.

..i dunno if it's been brought up here but it helps to set a net speed limiter, so BT wont clog your upstream to it's limit, which then in turn makes your downloading a pain..

@ cheff - no pun intended, but considering you apparently can't use google, are you sure your connection allows for speed like 150 kbit/sec?
theres' also a nifty feature in these forums called "search messages" cuz if u came up with a question, sum1 prob already asked it.

hey duz ne one kno how to run ABC BT faster? mine is only at like 2 kb/s and drdan sed his Bts w/ ABC are at 150...i have a cable modem through a router wich i here kan be a problem..a site sed that i can speed it up by doin 2 things...
"Firewalls: Open ports 6881 to 6889 to traffic.
Routers: Forward ports 6881 to 6889 to the PC running BitTorrent. If you have more than one PC running BitTorrent, I suppose you could forward some ports to one PC, and the other ports to another PC. I haven't tried it, but it seems logical" Courtousey of mrtwig.net so if any one know wut tha tmeens pleez reply..Thanks

First of all, I have absolutely no problem with sharing my files. I am in complete agreement that not sharing will destroy bit torrents the same way that it destroyed Kazaa.
That said, I do not like sharing when the amount of upload is disproportionate to the download. The reason I pay the large costs of high speed internet is to get fast downloads. The ratio should be more even.
After trying several clients, I have to say that shareaza is the best for what i am looking for. I am averaging 50-100k in and 50-75 out. Not bad. Good enough for me. Also it is extremely user friendly for those of us who are *ahem* computer illiterate. It has a setup wizard that takes you through step by step, and sets up your network.
Just thought I would take the time to post, since this site helped point me in what i feel is the right direction. Good luck.

thx roger,
i found out about shareaza on this forum, and an interesting thing happened after i d/loaded the p2p program it automatically changed a bit torrent i had on my desktop in to a shareaza icon when i double clicked it it automatically started d/loding the bit torrent for me at incredible speeds, 4 times what the program bit torrent was d/loading at. so I think ill use shareaza for my bit torrents now but thx for the info anyway . tarnished

Hi
Ok ive read the posts on routing BitTorrent through the firewall. I have a home network through a belkin router. 2 computers connected through that. Im sure my ports have been forwarded as i did the netstat option and found many 6881* in there.. My problem is that sometimes my light turns green which is brilliant coz i cnnect to remote and local connections, but most times it stays yellow and hardly get any ownload speed on that.. The ports never get changed and the status light changes over night for eg last night it was green and brilliant this morning it stays yellow.. Any idea's or help on this pleasse??

You should try lowering your upload speed to maybe 70% or whatever makes your download speed faster.

hey guys,
ive scrathched shareaza, wasnt impressed overall with it. ive tried all the bit torrent programs and the one i found works the best for me is torrentopia. I highly recommend this user friendly interface for all your bit torrent downloads. It makes adjusting your upload and downloading speeds much easier to adjust, you can super seed and keep max peers at 20 in case your experiencing freezes. tarnished
