Rob,
Did you take the cover off and look on the MB? There's almost always some sort of letters, numbers or something you can identify the MB with

cincyrob,
The MB is an ECS! Model P4Vmm rev 1.0 and is about 4-5 years old! Remarkable life for an old ECS! ECS has no archives that I can find so no other info seems to be available. The model is not on their MB list!
It's an HT chipset MB. Not as good as the HX!

Russ NOT to spend RedRob's money or his in-laws but wouldn't be better to "upgrade" to something with a 775 socket and some cheapy RAM?? Just those items can be had for well under $300 maybe even $200 if you go for the low end Dual Core and MicroATX mobo with some "value" RAM. :) I can provide some prices.... lol. :P

add: RedRob let's spend some CASH!!!!! heheehe. :P

Looks like everythings been ID'd and a fix/upgrade has been started for Robs in-laws (you fix the in-laws machine? I'm figuring out how to inject viruses into mine...LOL) This might be a little late but for next time try the Belarc Advisor if you need mobo ID'd or other information about the guts of a computer.

Hell, get them an AMD 5200+ brisbane Dual Core for $67 and a $50 Biostar MB complete with very good nVidia 6150 graphics. Memory don't get no cheaper either, DDR2/800! For less than $160 they've got a much faster computer. Much better deal for the Folks! Easier on the old Wallet, too!
Best Regards,
Russ

Mobo $55
CPU $70
MEM $57($30 mir)
PSU $30
Hdd $54
Case $60
$326 before $30 MIR
$296 after MIR
i think i might be able to get them to do this here.
with that being a small mobo. i could put it in there case they have now and save another $60 that take it down to $266 before MIR

I thought they got rid of the whole master/slave business when they came out with SATA.

There is no Master/Slave with S-ata drives. It will read the boot drive as the "C" drive, and the others will be assigned their own drive letters. The additional drives can be used with different operating systems, except for Vista which as far as I'm concerned M$ can shove where the sun don't shine! Who in their right mind would want an OS that isn't compatible with a lot of older software, and is slower than XP-Pro, to boot! I would have to replace most of my existing programs that work perfectly fine with XP because more often than not it's not compatible with Vista! UGH!!

Russ
