This may not be your problem, but a few months ago I purchased a WD HDD as a secondary drive, and after a couple of weeks I noticed it was taking longer to boot up. Another week or two went by, and all of a sudden XP would not boot up, it got stuck at the horizontal bar, and never comes out of it. It took me awhile, but I finally detached that drive and it booted up with the normal speed that I was used to.
FYI, best of luck

Try disabling your CPU Cache for boot up, then enabling it after a proper shut down.
I updated my drivers for my graphics card yesterday and it got stuck on Verifying DMI pool data, but I did the above and it worked great.
Otherwise clear your CMOS and see if that makes it any better.

Thanks for all the help.
I updated my BIOS version...and that didn't change anything...
But I saw an option in @BIOS to clear the DMI data pool....would that help? I also want to load optimized defaults and see if that helps...

A full 10 seconds. Not insanely long, but it's much more noticeable than my old PC.

Well my Gigabyte board used to do that too. Didn't really bother me though.

My Gigabyte EX38-DS4 had similar problems. I never really troubleshoot the issue because I thought it could be unique to the board/BIOS/Intel controllers after using AMD for a few years blah blah. This board has six SATA ports.. 0 and 1 are in one area of the board, close to the southbridge the others, 2-5 are at the edge of the board next to all the front panel and power headers. Well I had 3 outta 4 ports by the headers full of hard drives when it was slow. I took them out because I wanted to use them with my RAID card and now everything is faster, the DMI pool verifies what seems like normal speed.

I had this issue when I first got the board. I made sure my OS HDD was first and I didn't have a USB stick plugged in at boot and it's been fine ever since, pausing for the normal 2-3s.

Never thought to put my OS HDD in first slot...I'll try that.
EDIT: Yup, it got a little shorter now. No longer than 3-5 seconds.

Yes we did lol. The reason I didn't put my hdd and odd in the first two slots in the first place was because my gfx card is almost right on top of slots 1 and 2, so I figured it was just easier to plug them into two other ones and get on with it.

Finally got around to installing the DFI mobo.. A little disappointed tho... I had to "turn" the heatsink 90* because the NB heatsink wouldn't fit right. IT doesn't look bad just NOT the way I want the air to flow. lol. I'll have pics later. ;)

gm,
you didn't answer my question. are you using your TRU or your arctic freezer 7 pro? the reason I ask is because a DFI rep told me there are no clearance problems with the OCZ vendetta which is similiar in size to the AF7 Pro, both 92mm anyway.

abuzar, edit your sig to conform to forum specs ASAP. yours is 170x227 pixels. an addict should know better.
2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.

The ACF7 Pro. :P I'm thinking about "altering" the ACF7 Pro. I put so much time into lapping it that I'm unwilling NOT to use it.. LOL.
If I have to buy another chipset cooler there's plenty of them out there. ;)
