Actually we are discussing just what you have been trying to discuss here. It is just in an appropriate thread. Give it a try. Your new to DVDrebuilder. You might just learn something.

Your lightning rod is there. I sprinkled a few crumbs, perhaps you'll catch something. LOL Actually the thread is off to a good start now. Looks like the start of a good thread specific to the subject matter. You appear to have a few knowledgable people posting already. If you're wanting Nolos there, he'll have everyone there to discuss with that he's had here.

Sophocles,
Did I notice a bit of incoherence? Could it be time for more medication? LOL

I have recently started to play around with DVD RB and CCE SP 2.67.00.27 and have been having trouble getting the results I want (Havn't been getting anything useful yet). I have followed the instructions given here and have accually gotten it to encode a movie for me. I have done two, The Terminal and the Incredibles. BOth with the same result. I have also tryed it with two different versions of CCE. The one mentioned above and with CCE SP 2.7.00.03 Trial. No matter what I do I seem to get the same outcome. Everything encodes and rebuilds fine but when I go to play the movie back (VIDEO_TS Output Folder) the menu and all works fine but the movie just shows this screen.

http://images.filecloud.com/11578/Terminal_Incredibles_Encode.JPG

I can hear sound and everything but all I get for video is shown above. Keep in mind This happens for two different movie.

Anyone know what's going on or have any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance.

@jugbugs

That means that either AVISYNTH is not installed correctly or (more likely) you are not pointing to (the correct) DGDECODE.DLL. You can actually see the error if you open one of the .AVS files directly with Microsoft Media Player.

I would suggest you download the Rockas Installer and let it do the configuration for you. It can be downloaded at www.dvd-rb.com

I told you to knock it off and I mean it. I have several senior members here who I never see go out of their way to post off topic remarks giving someone a hard time. You are the common denominator here so I'm going to ask ONE MORE TIME - no more off topic remarks. This thread has been very useful and I don't want to close but if it doesn't get back on track I'll have no choice and I'll be very pissed about it.

You get three strikes and two of them are up.

If you're still having problems, post a copy of the file, "rebuilder-Configuration Settings". Remember to post it for the version you're wanting to use and have loaded. The file should be wherever you put the Rebuilder folder. It opens with notepad. Just copy and post here. It is often helpful in diagnosing problems.

Thanks jdobbs, I was under the impression that I could use MPEG2Dec3dg.dll as my decoder but I will try the other one. I am going to try to use the rockas installer just so I have everything I need (in the right place). I f this doesn't help ill post a log.

Either decoder will work. DGDecode is just more up to date. The configuration file I requested might help diagnose the problem. However, you may solve the problem with Rockas's installer. I suspect your problem is in the setup as does jdobbs and Sophocles.

When I do a rebuild I noticed that I get three files in the output, AUDIO_TS(Empty), VIDEO_TS(3.2GB) and A2VAVS(1.2GB). What is the purpose of the A2VAVS folder and when I go to burn do I just need the VIDEO_TS folder or do I need all three.

Also, thanks for all the quick replys.

Another quick Question. I used the installer and now AudioDub(BlankClip()) is checked in AVS. Also, MPEG2Source("source',idct=7) is not checked. In the tutorial I was following these options were different. What should they be set at?

A2VAVS folder is the folder used to "rebuild". Nothing out of the ordinary. Once I get a good encode, I go ahead and delete A2VAVS to save space on the HD. If I burn right away, I sometimes just wait and delete the whole DVD folder at once.

Why is the VIDEO_TS folder so small then. Shoulden't it be closer to 4.5GB?

AVS options on mine only has Convert to YUY2() checked. Also, I have MPEG2Source("source',idct=7) checked. My setup works the way it's supposed to.

4.37 GB is the maximum capacity of a 4.7 disc. The difference between the way the PC and the retailer count bytes. 4.5GB would be too large. However, in your case a 3.2GB Video_TS folder appears to be too small. Once you have your setup correct, do an encode and then take a look at the file size and see if it is near 4.3GB. So far, it appears you haven't done a good encode.

Now that you have the setup correct (hopefully), go ahead and post the configuration settings so we can check that you have it right, it'll save time. I believe I requested that file several times now. I don't understand your reluctance to supply necessary info. With a CCE SP trial it should look something like the one I'll show you. (It is different for trials before the CCE SP 2.70 trial because the earlier trials used eclCCE. So, don't try copying the config file here unless you're using it with a 2.70 SP trial.)

That's it. Give me time to look it over and I'll show you something. I can tell this should be for one of the CCE SP 2.70 trials or it is wrong. Which CCE version are you setting up for?

Backup the contents of the configuration folder and then copy this and put it in your configuration file. The only thing I'll add is that if the version of SP trial being used is 2.70.02 one needs to select "Run Apps Minimized" in the setup. That's not necessary as you noted 2.70.01 as the trial in use. Rockas' setup does the job, but you got the setup for different encoders in your path. This configuration is specific for CCE SP trial 2.70 with your application paths. If you haven't altered anything and there's no corrupted files, this should encode Terminal for you.

Also, I noticed you have your folders buried a bit deep in the directory, notice the difference between yours and mine. Here is the way I've found easiest. I have a drive and a partition set aside for DVD backups. Output=E:\MARK_OF_ZORRO_RB\
Since you're using C:\, you can set it up something like this, Working=C:\Jugbugs Movies\Terminal and the Output=RB Movies\Terminal_RB . That way you have the folders at the top of the directory where you don't have to dig so deep for them. Also, you have separate folders for the finished and completed movies. Note the little _RB tag, it's handy to put on an encoded movie to show at a glance you did it with RB, especially handy if you move it or get something else in the RB Movies folder. Just a hint to keep things simplified. I realize people have reasons for doing things differently. So, whatever works...

I'll note separately that since your previous problem was with Aisynth, you should have installed the Avisynth 2.5 to the default folder.
