I was saying pretty much the same thing as you Sophocles -- no sense in repeating it.

I told you I would have more questions. Can I select the same folder for destination and work path or should I make a new folder for the work path somewhere else? Thanks.

I recommend that you use separate folders for both but they can be in the same area. Such as C:\source and C:\work.

The one definite no-no is that you should never try to use the same directory for work or destination that is used for source. I've had some reported problems that I've found were caused by that scenario. In the next version I will put checks in to make sure the same directory can't be selected.

My version CCE SP 2.70 is not supported by the current release of eclcce 1.81 from the doom9.org forums and the creator seems to have left it for someone else to finish. Does anybody have updated version of "eclcce" since it currently only supports CCE SP 2.66 and 2.67.
I tried to download the trial version of CCE SP 2.67 from afterdawn but it links to 2.70. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.

CCE 2.70+ doesn't require a ecl file, in the setup just direct DVD-RB to CCE SP.

Or SP Trial if it applies... it usually does, as not a lot of people outside of the professional video industry spend $2000 on an encoder.

whats the deal with this 'watermark' with SP and SP Trial? It sounds like everyone on this thread (given a choice) would use CCE Basic. Just wondering for knowing's sake.
Sorry for such a newb post. I read about 10 pages and most people are asking advanced questions.

Sophocles:
I did as you suggested but the Video TS folder is still too large for a DVD 5. Do I have to tweek any settings in RB to make sure it shrinks DVD 9's to DVD 5's?
Thanks again.
-Peace and happy burning.

You shouldn't have to tweak anything the default settings should have worked. What is size of your Video_TS folder? What media and burning application are you using?

besides 'what is a watermark' i have another question
When 'encoding' I get the error "C:\[DVD-RB work folder]\D2VAVS\item.ecl is not a ECL for CCE SP Works Version"
I tried deleting all files in that folder and trying again, but same error? Any help much appreciated.

Is this a concert DVD by chance? I had the problem of a concert dvd having multiple angles, which most compression programs don't do too well with.Quote: whats the deal with this 'watermark' with SP and SP Trial? As far as I knew, the watermark was just on the trial of CCE SP and not the retail. Basic does a great job and $60 compared to $2000 is a world of difference.

A watermark is an image (usually a corporate logo) that is left on your DVD by CCE to remind you that you're using a demo version. You also get them on photo images that are copyrighted.
Redo your setup from scratch, there is probably an error there someplace. You might also want to try the Rockas installer which does the setup for you. It can be downloaded from here.

if you still get the watermark when using retail SP, you still probably have rebuilder pointing to the trial version.

I was using rebuilder with an alternative guide found on the internet. I'll try starting over with the Rockas installer.
How will I know if I have a watermark. Will it be visible on the DVD or on playback?

Yes the watermark will be visible on the DVD, I'm not sure how long since I purchased CCE Basic. On another note RB includes the HC encoder, Have you tried it yet?

It will be on the screen during playback. If your really interested you should just go ahead and purchase cce basic. You won't be sorry.

holy crap. Don't want no watermark.
Used the installer from the website. On the 2nd part for CCE I unchecked the default and choosed my version of CCE since I was getting an ecl error again. When encoding began it is using "QuEnc 0.61" is that a program that utilizes CCE or is something going wrong. It is taking quite a bit of time. Looks like about 4 hours for Van Helsing. Should I abort?
I'm getting a lot of 'ecl' error pop ups and difficulty locating CCE path and I've tried about 20 different setups, uninstalling each time. It looks like with 'installer' if I had CCE Basic I could just use all defaults and it would work fine. I probably should do that right?
Thanks for any help. And I don't think 'choosed' is a word but you know what i mean.

Oh yeah, how do I check to see if 'avisynth' is running since I've never used it before?
For main movie, movies under 2 hours I think I'll stick with Nero Recode but for episodic DVDs and movies longer than 3 hours this program is a must. I tried backing up Dawsons Creek Season 2 and it had about 5 or 6-45 minute episodes. I used Shrink and it came out worse than analog TV. Is there any way to prevent the automatic 'steal from extras' so that I don't get one super episode and 5 so-so episodes. I don't have the item selected in options btw.
Oh yeah and any help with my first questions...thanks.
