I've done some interleaved movies without a problem (Hide and Seek is the latest, also did the Incredibles with RB/CCE but don't remember if there was interleaving on it), it's the multiple angled movies that I have problems with. Although Hide and Seek took 3 and a half hours and most movies take between 1 and a half and 2 and a half hours.

I did The Incredibles with whichever version was out at the time, I don't remember which. I do remember I didn't have any problems and I encoded the entire disk.

I probably wasted 3 DVDRs on The Incredibles DVD, I might have to copy the entire disc itself to a DL-DVDR. ;-(

@Jdobbs

I recently encoded The Fellowship of the Ring and I noticed there were 2 problems which resulted once the encode was complete. I had automatic shutdown enabled in DVD-RB once it finished and the program just hanged with only 5 seconds remaining. Also when I went to burn the files with Nero, the DVD allocation failed. It read a statement resulting in a non-critical error and I don't know if it was entirely safe to actually burn the disc. I'm going through the recently encoded backup to see if any errors should turn up but I thought you would like to know.

Well... I made a backup of the Incredibles (PAL R2) without any problems either.

I haven't had a problem with interleaves or multi angles since the movie closer. I sent jdobbs some info on it and he had it fixed within two days.

The interleave, multi angle DareDevil tests were over a year ago. I was just joking.

I believe it's been talking about in here, but I don't have the time to scan through 90 pages! So I'm hoping that someone remembers if there's a fix to this: I'm trying to copy Schindler's List and am running into trouble at exactly the 50% mark of Side A both using DVDShrink and DVDecrypter both being up to date. Is there any other program that works to copy this DVD or a trick to copy it using these 2 programs?

Thanks,
Slick

I backed up Schindler's List without any difficulties and I don't recall hearing any reports about others having problems with it either. This leads me to believe that the disc is damaged. My first suggestion would be to try and clean the disc. If that doesn't work then write down the file that's preventing you from ripping the disc and then using DVD Decrypter rip every file on the disc but the one with the problem. That can be done by highlighting the files to the right except the one that's a problem. Once that's done, again using DVD Decrypter go to Tools, settings,Device and at the bottom right look for options. Check set read speed and then set read speed to the lowest setting that you see. Now at the top go to I/O and then under options check "ignore read errors." Now try ripping just the file with the problem.

Good Luck

Wrong thread... but. Soph is right, it could be just a fault with the source disc. Try using a tool like the freeware DVDInfoPro and check the disc for read/write errors. I believe you need to look to the icon with the magnifying glass, if I remember correctly on that app. Checking the disc would determine if that is the problem and possibly save you some time. Or simply look at the disc and see if it has surface problems. Used discs can develop a fuzzy look when used a lot and sometimes get severe scratches from careless handling. If that is the problem, a resurfacing tool that polishes (like SkipDr) can help. I don't think I'd buy a tool for just a single disk though.

BTW, you chose the wrong thread. The forum is set up for posting to threads that pertain to particular problems and/or software. None of this has to do with RB/CCE. We do try to be helpful though.

am checking out dvd-rb just a novice b-kind but does v.93 used with quenc or hc have the abillity to create the iso needed for burn w/ decrypter

also is h.c. compliant looking it don't actually have an hc mode would I just atake rebuilder out of one click mode and run back and forth between program's I have heard good thing's about hc such as cce's equal but faster is it really better than quenc(or any other freebies) one that is linked to dvd-rb. any opinions? (other than I'm a cheap bastard!lol)

I think maybe it's time for dvd-rb forum shrink has it's own does any body remember the excedrin ads "I have a headache this biigg" if you have'nt been watching this thread since the beggining then there's a good chance of getting lost.

No problem, just that the mods sometime frown at threads going off track. BTW, you're welcome.

Getting back to RB. Look under Options, select Setup. There you'll see where to put in the path to the HC encoder.

CCE is the best encoder for use with RB. Many say HC is nearly as good. Quenc? Never tried it because others said it was no where near as good as CCE or HC for use with RB. With reliable sources having noted their results, I figured it would just be a waste of time. When the weather gets bad and I'm suffering from cabin fever and nothing better to do, I might try Quenc then.

Don't waste your time brobear. It's not nearly as good as CCE and takes twice as long. I haven't tried HC yet but plan to. While I'm here, brobear would you look at this thread and see if you could answer my question please? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/108247

@ bro bear thnx 4 the info and taking the time to find the question in my ramblings (just re-read my post it must have been really late lol) I have followed the your directions and to no availthe only path options I can locate are re-jig ecl procoder & quenc is this because I am using the freebie version .93 I think it is or am I overlooking something simple. are any of these encoders any better can I just turn off one click mode and use the hc enc.

also do you create an iso with dvd-rb?

btw.. quenc is by far slower the title i tried had the interleaving but I still think over 6 hrs (just encoding) is a long time.

Here's one for the ages.

I tried backing up three movies using RB v1.00 RC2 and on each attempt the back up failed. I should have written the error down but on all three occasions it was the same, "RB encountered and undetermined error. " Something to that effect. I checked my set up and its perfect. Curious, last night I pulled out a copy of RB.93 and using the same setup did a back up and it successfully completed the task. So what's different here? BTW, I do all of my backups in file mode.

(Hmmm! RB could have been out trying to assassinate George Bush)

The only thing that's changed in my setup is that I have a new system using a very new AMD 64 Venice core CPU.

HC Encoder is one of the options in the General Setup window for 93.2, which I just looked at. I also looked in the setup for v.1 RC2 and it's still there. jdobbs has had HC in the setup for a while now. As for getting the app to work with HC, besides entering the path for the HC Encoder in Setup, you have to go to Mode and select "HC Mode". Seems you need to familiarize yourself with the controls for RB. Just go to the navigation bar at the top of the RB window, open the various options and see what you have to chose from. Much of it is intuitive and sometimes downright obvious.

LOL Guess you have to approve of Bush or RB assassinates your setup.

There was some minor problems in RC1 that jdobbs noted he corrected. Luckily I've not suffered from any of them and I'm now using the RC2. Just finished doing a few encodes and don't have anything out of the ordinary happening. BTW, I'm doing everything in file mode as well.

I'm tending to lead toward processor support as the cause of the problem.

I was wondering, but didn't want to venture any input on that one. You know more about the CPUs than I do. Isn't your PC still pretty much the same except for the MOBO and CPU swap? Are we still talking about the same PC?

No, everything but my case and my CDROMS are new. My previous system has an over clocked P4 2.8ghz@3.149 Ghz. My new PC is using an AMD 3500+ Venice core over clocked to equal a 4400 plus. My specs are at zentarium along with some benchmarks I did.

I also worked out my problems with RB/1.00 RC2. I don't know how this happened but under avs options/advanced expert options/set decoder IDCT/32bit MMX (Xvid) was checked. I usually don't go over the avs options because I usually use the default. I just completed an encode of the movie White Noise and from prepare/encode/rebuild it took 76 minutes. That's right 1 hour and 16 minutes for everything but rip and burn on a 7.82 gig movie.

I just did another backup and here's a copy and paste of its stats from RB.

Copied and pasted from RB's Program Statis.

[21:05:04] PREPARE/ENCODE/REBUILD completed in 74 min.

Movie: Mean Girls (besides my wife), size 7.62 gigs (not as Decrypter reads it).

Yep 1 hour and 14 minutes.
