The best method to use is what has been mentioned previously by several posters:
To Rip to Hard Drive, use DVDFab v6.0.7.0
Preview: off
Pathplayer: off
Use the Main Movie mode and select #47 (I chose no sub picture)
Rip the movie to your hard drive.
You can then burn to DVD with Nero and the movie will play through flawlessly. ( I suggest burning no faster than 8x)
There are no special features on the DVD so you lose nothing but the menu using this method. All chapters are intact.

so, just out of curiosity what makes this better than simply using anydvd and clonedvd together?
I think you will notice that whatever works for each person is what they think is "the best".. even if it uses 6 different programs and 10 different steps.

The "best" method for me personally would be to use less programs thus producing less confusion.
What worked for me also was simply using DVDFab 6.0.7.0, disable pathplayer. Movie Only, Title 47, then burned with IMGburn. Done.
Watched the backup copy last night and it looked and sounded great!

Just viewed my backup(Menus included), and it looks as stunning as the original...Since the menus take up hardly any space at all. Simply an anydvd rip, Re-builder CCE encode, and burn. Done :) Virtually zero confusion. Rip, encode, burn. Doesn't get any easier than that LOL! And in my humble opinion, that's certainly better than DvdFabs trans-coding engine. Though don't get me wrong. Shrink and Fab are fine in most cases. Encoders are simply a little better. Given the HDTV's viewing and up-scaling technologies, I've found that CCE encoder does at least a slightly better job...
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

"Best" is a word that can cause scrutiny. anyDVD does a fine job with this one as well. I did it both ways last night just for confirmation.
Also, turning the preview off is an unnecessary step. :)

They, the Optical drives, ate Liteon.... Does anyone have a suggestion as to what DVD Drives might be better @ brand and model.
Although i can easily play the movie on my PC i have thus far been unable to copy it.
If it were easy then everyone would be doing it so i guess that those that make the movies want to throw in a new copy protection every now and then... All i and 99.9999% of us want to do is back up the movies that we already went out and bought so that we dont scratch the original.
Any hints/ suggestions other than what has already been posted would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
if you have had no problems backing up in the past, i doubt it is your drive, but it could possibly be a bad press on the original. With the slysoft package it should work. Keep in mind it would rip the video files fine to the hard drive using anydvd as the ripper but would not back up as an .iso file.
try ripping with anydvd first before including clone dvd

I hardly think best has anything to do with the price of the programs. Many times the free programs can not do what the paid for programs can. I think you should say the cheapest method if you want to be accurate. For the record I own both AnyDVD and Fab.
If I can learn here so can you.

That is what i was getting at, there is no best. It mainly comes down to personal preference.
Now, let's get back to talking about Transformers ROTF. ;)

As i had, for the most part, been able to use ANYDVD for the hardest to rip dvd's ( to the hard drive) and then use clonedvd to make the actual dvd itself i know that my software is working as it should be. It is the older DVD's that i question and even though i have used a dvd cleaner i am questioning whether or not they might be getting a little long in the tooth and time to see if the newer models will do a slightly better job....
I something in excess of 9 years of coping my own movies i have only had a handfull of movies that i was not able to easily copy. Some were done just using clone dvd and those that were harder i used the combination of anydvd and then clonedvd. * dvd region free**.
This latest movie has me stumped and i have tried everything that others have had sucess with and that leads me to question my optical drives themselves.
Thanks for giving me your input.

The last time I had this much trouble was with a movie called "Collier & Company". AnyDvd came out with a beta that solved the problem within a couple of days after the release. I seriously doubt there's a problem with anyone's burner who hasn't been having trouble in the past. I've tried to backup 3 different copies of Transformers 2 - Revenge Of The Fallen without any success. I'm stumped!

mrhilbily:
Give a shot using:
RipIt4me: To Analize Full DVD (Ingnore all Read Errors)
DVD Decripter: To rip (takes some time)
Shrink: To Re-author Movie Only, Compress n' Make a ISO file
ImgBurn: To Burn.
Good Luck !

Thumbs up Success!!!!"Main Movie Only"
Success!!!!!!!....Transformers2 ROTF "Movie only"(Title Set 45)....no skips @ all. Unfortunately with AnyDVD/HD 6.5.9.3 off. I Ripped the title to my 1TB hard drive using VOB BLANKER, Then backed up the main movie using NERO 8 Recode 3. I tried the same back-up with menu and disabled extras from the same file and video preview plays the movie in proper sequence but the end result with menu was out of sequence. I'll accept this small victory and the main movie for now. I think I"ll go see what possible BD+ challenges the BLU-RAY title offers. I'm reading of another work around with AnyDVD/HD and CloneDVD2 where it is suggested that you rip the the title to hard drive using AnyDVD. Then open file with CloneDVD2 delete all titlesets except titleset 45 leaving the 45 and the menu. I tried this and it does not seem to work as CloneDVD2 does not playback tltleset 45 from start to finish in the preview pane. So after wasting several 8.5 dual layer disc on other attempts to complete a back of this title. I passed on that suggestion.
I didn't have any issue after I burned to hard drive with AnyDVD and used Nero 9 Recode (trial download) to burn to dvd late last night. This afternoon I watched the dvd from start to finish and played perfectly fine.
Again: AnyDVD "burn video to hard drive" option by right-clicking AnyDVD tray icon at bottom right of screen, then use Nero 9 Recode to burn to dvd. It will work fine that way, no playback issues at all.

Here's what worked for me with menus.
1) Ripped with AnyDVD 6.5.9.5
2) Processed files with DVDfab 6118 Beta with Pathplayer disabled and AnyDVD turned off. Process all files from step 1. No need to select
movie only.
3) Process files from step 2 with DVDShrink and burnt to a regular DVD-R disc.
Again, I have menus. I took off the French audio also.
Plays great with no skipping.

ok so here is what I gathered, I tried EVERY POSSIBLE WAY to burn Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, I listened to everyone with the ways of doing so with different versions of dvdfab and disabling pathplayer and only doin the main movie with title 47 selected... that didnt work, the chapters were still scrambled and i tried it with 6 different versions of dvdfab... total waste of time there, so i tried the ripit4me way i read about... that too was garbage, I was about to give up when i tried something on my own... I copied the dvd in full with Anydvd 6.5.9.5(trial version) to the hard drive... after that I used dvdfab 6.0.6.0, making sure that pathplayer was disabled, and opened up the transformer folder that had been saved to my hard drive, and decided to use dvdfab 6.0.6.0 to decrypt that folder, thus creating a smaller folder under dvdfabs fulldisc folder... burned the dvd with dvdfab 6.0.6.0... and guess what I was able to do... copy the ENTIRE disc not just the main movie... I checked it out with my store bought copy and every chapter was in line with the next... so my advice don't listen to everyone else do it my way for the full disc

DO WHAT I DID!!!
1) (Assuming you have AnyDVD.) Right-click your AnyDVD icon in the tray (bottom-right of screen) and select "burn video to hard drive".
2) After it's burned to your hard drive, use Nero 9 Recode to burn what you burned to your hard drive with AnyDVD onto a blank dvd.
3) Enjoy watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Dvd Shrink in re-author mode, with all additional languages and subtitles removed, running anyDVD in the background will also get this one done.
However, there is a noticeable loss in quality with this method.

This one is not that difficult if you read through and follow the success stories and how it was done.
As a last resort, use the method i outlined in this post.

1. Are you using the most recent version of DvdFab? If not, update immediately.
2. Make sure you're in main movie mode, it's there. DvdFab will select title 30 i believe, but 47 should be in there.
3. As a last resort, use the method i outlined in this post.
And now i've seen a couple of posts of people using anyDVD then DvdFab? Why? If you already have it ripped to the HDD why run it again?

anyDVD is what's removing the encryption. It's still ripping, it's just doing so on-the-fly.
