Run it and unpatch key 5 then try doing the update.

ok this is the message i get when i try to update to 3.90 m33 :- Some of your idstorage keys have not the correct values, probably due
to a downgrader. In order to continue, press x to restore the correct
values, press r to exit... any ideas... when i run chilly willy it says... The idstorage identifies the motherboard as a TA-082/86
The idstorage identifies the region set to a hong kong PSP-1006

I'm on 3.40 OE-A. Can I just update to 3.52 to use the games I need, and up to 3.7x or so on as I need later? Also does it matter weather I have the fat or slim for this 3.52 one stop install? I have PSP fat (in sig) from origional 1.0 current to 3.40 OE-A.
Can anybody share even the slighest experienced issues with 3.52 and so on? Are they stable when overclocked for some UMD/ISO images?

Hm? Is anybody with know how even reading this tread anymore? I ended up thumbng through with my bad eyes to at least get the 3.52/M33 flashed and it worked the first time around. I did already have folder set to 1.5 kernal if that was ok and it is still as such.
I did so just to play the games I have now, Star Wars - Battlefront, God of War, Lord Of The Rings- Tatics, Zendoku, Prince Of Persia. I'm sure in short time I will need 3.7+
So is it working for you who are still reading the forum, to just continue as instructed? I see a lot of ???'s of not getting past the 3.52.
Not that it matter for me cause I play it often, but is it needed for the GTA 2.0 to be in drive as like before? I just wanted to ask since I did not see mention of it anymore since 3.40.
Also, can somebody with a SLIM, please confirm what minum firmware is needed to use this 3.52 update and so on. What is the common released firmware since new right now for PSP SLIM?

Im not an expert in this thread, so if Im wrong, someone can correct me.
I can say from my experience that the newest custom firmware 3.90m33-2 on a phat PSP hasnt given me any problems. And I have upgraded 6 PSPs for friends and none have reported problems to me.
No it doesnt matter which version you have whether its slim or phat, just that on the slim, you cant add the 1.50 kernel add-on. This guide is for both versions. Also, the slim PSP gives you Skype with cfw 3.90m33-2, whereas the phat one doesnt.
You do not need to have any UMDs in the drive to play homebrew games. Just need to go into recovery menu and change the settings.
this link
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/561439
shows the recovery menu and describes what each setting does
hope this helps
btw people still read this thread just that sometimes people cant respond right away

You can not downgrade a SLIM to 1.50. You can however use a Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick to install 3.71 M33-2 to the PSP SLIM then update to 3.90 M33-2 by using 1 of the guides below...
If you have access to a custom firmware PSP (FAT/Slim) use this guide HERE.
If you only have access to the official firmware PSP then use this guide HERE.

Way cool, thanx for the quick reply. Yes. I do have my own origional PSP FAT on CF 3.52/M33 w/ GTA LCS 2.0 and of corce the only extra battery is the old FAT. It does fit and powers the slim but not the other way around. So do I mod the FAT battery?
I'll be reading the links you gave asap.
ThanX again!!!

Cool, it look like it was working up till I re inserted the disc and selected option 4. However it returned a top error and said it is not x64 compatable. I do have a back up notebook w/ x86 XP mCE on it so I will try again and report back.
I will format and start over on XP x86 just to make sure.

Quote: Now use the Magic Memory Stick + Pandora Battery on the PSP that needs to be unbricked or Custom Firmware installed to.
K, I used the magig stic + battery created on my FAT w cfw 3.52/M33
Quote: After the custom firmware is installed take out the Battery and plug the PSP in via AC Adapter and turn the PSP on (without the Battery inserted).
Quote: After the PSP boots to XMB place the Battery into the PSP and go to Game Menu Memory Stick and select OS Pandora Battery Tool.
I did exactly this, but as soon as I popped the battery in, it just started as normal, no XMB menue, so I moved to the GAME folder to load OS Pandora Battery Tool, only now it errors out after I press X and shuts down. What would cause this?
Quote: You will get a warning screen just press X to get to the Main Menu. When the Main Menu comes up go to "flash only serial from mso:/eeprom.bin"
I was however able to complete this step on the FAT after several trys at tweaking it and even flashed my FAT to the same cfw v3.71/M33 and I was able to flash the battery.
Both FAT & SLIM are working on theri own batteries but just wondering why I couldnt complete the flash while still on the SLIM.

Hi, I have a FAT PSP. Downgraded to 1.5 once upon a time. Used devhook til 2.71 with no problems.
So anyway, since i was in 1.5, i used the guide exactly and ended up successfully with 3.9 M33-2. Great that i dont have to boot up to play games anymore...the games now appear directly in the game menu under memory stick.
However, when i click on any game, new (like God Of War that needs 3.8) or old (that used to work on devhook), either way the white psp screen loads....then the screen goes black....then it says " The game could not be started. (80020321)" And none of the games work now.
I followed the guide exact and i did successfullky get the new firmware, but the games wont load. Any idea what the problem is?

Press select and the VSH menu should come up. Now go to "UMD ISO Mode" and press right on the D-Pad till you see "Sony NP9660" then exit out of VSH menu.
Now try booting the games.

Edit: Disregard this post! I got everything figured out.
I got to 3.52 M33 from 3.40 oe-a and now I'm trying to get to 3.90 M33.
When I do the update it goes to a black screen and says "3.90.pbp doesn't exist. Download from internet?" Or something really close to that.
Anyways, should I do that? I think I remember reading something like that and the person ended up with the official 3.90 instead of M33.
Where can I get the 3.90.pbp file?

Exactly, This is what I kept askingbut with no explanation. Only thing I found on another link for 3.90 easy installer did the same but a download from PSP Hacks 3.90 CCFW work if you get the Sony official fw and rename it to 390.PBP.
I would guess that this was supposed to do that with MUX, move it to a folder to be seen, but never worked for me on 3 trys and 2 PSP's.
I later learned from the other PSP Hacks forum that YES, you can let it download the Sony official, but I felt better putting it in manually and renaming it.
Hope this helps.

You must be doing something wrong because the 390.PBP file is included and does work in the download that I have provided. Plus it has worked for tons of others before you. Your the only 1 having this type of issue so figure out what your doing wrong to fix the issue.

I too , followed the "basic" instructions. Said nothing about backing up NAND in the beginning and why if that. and nothing about not being x64 compatable, or what to do if one forgot and put the service mode batter back in the origional FAT on CFW. Not knowing I had to go through the 3.71 all over loosing all my settings just so I can run the os battery tool cause the slim now on cfw 3.71 would not run it.
Just to clear it up, when you say turn on psp (one being modded) w/o bat, it should boot to an XMB menue, what spaciffically is the XMB menue? Mine just booted to the standard psp menue with icons and background. I then broused to the OS battery tool only to get the erro, and it crashed and restarted and came up to the unbrick options menus (I'm guessing cause PB was still in in service mode. Would have been nice to know up front what not to do if this happened. So again, I did the 3.71 flash cause I thought it was bricked.
Also, when said to run mux and choose my upgrade, I checked 3.90 and it did flash but for just 2 secs, but when I went to game menue to run the 3.90 it said non 390.pbp found. So obviously mine wasnt working either and I wasnt the only one. Whould this have been cause during the making of the magic disc? Cause it did the same with the 3.52 easy installer too, but worked if I manually ran it after dropping the renemed file ( Sony official eboot.pbp for 3.90 to 390.pbp) in.
So, if this happensd again, do I just pull out the bat while on A/C to get it to bot to default psp menue, or is that concidered the XMB menue no on cfw? These are basic ???s
