What are you trying to run when you get the error?

I am currently trying to run the MUX 2.0 file, and have also tried Dark AleX's CFW 3.90 M33-2. I put the Dark AleX one in G:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE, and the one from this thread in the root of my memory stick.

If your running 3.80 M33 and have the kernel set to 3.80 then it should start perfectly fine.
Are you sure you have 3.80 M33?
Double check under system settings/system information.

I duno what else to tell you.
Even tho this probably will not make a diffrence you can always go HERE and folow these steps to try to get it working properly. Maybe you have some setting enabled that shouldn't be.

Thanks but it didn't help.
This is exactly how my configuration menu looks:
Skip sony logo (currently: disabled)
Hide corrupt icons (currently: disabled)
Game folder homebrew (currently: 3.80 kernel)
Autorun program at /PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP (currently:disabled)
UMD mode (currently: M33 driver -NO UMD-)
Fake region (currently: disabled)
Free UMD region (currently: enabled)
Hard reset on homebrew (currently: Disabled)
Use VshMenu (currently: enabled)
XMB USB device (currently: Memory Stick)
Use M33 Network Update (currently: enabled)
I also have everything under advanced configuration disabled. I havn't really changed much here because I don't know what it all does, but if anyone thinks I should, please let me kmow.

have you tried:
formatting ms and downloading from this guide?
taking it back to 1.50 and upgrading all over again?
-or-
I might be wrong but if you do the network update... shouldnt that take you to 3.90 m33 automatically? or maybe I misunderstood that part
I would double check on this last option before proceeding

You need to run MUX and either choose...
371 M33, 3.80 M33 or 3.90 M33 which ever firmware you want to update to.
After you update to 1 of the above run MUX again and update that firmware...
If you updated to 3.71 M33 then run MUX and update to 3.71 M33-4
If you updated to 3.80 M33 then run MUX and update to 3.80 M33-5
If you updated to 3.90 M33 then run MUX and update to 3.90 M33-2
After you have updated to the newest firmware you have chosen you will then need to run the 1.50 ADD ON if you want 1.50 kernel support (You have to be updated to the corsponding firmware above in order to install the 1.50 kernel ADD ON).
If you updated to 3.71 M33 above then run the 1.50 ADD ON for 3.71 M33.
If you updated to 3.80 M33 above then run the 1.50 ADD ON for 3.80 M33.
If you updated to 3.90 M33 above then run the 1.50 ADD ON for 3.90 M33.

The issue is your trying to run 1.50 kernel ADD ON for 3.71 M33 when having 3.52 M33 custom firmware installed. This will not work. You need to update to 3.71 M33, 3.80 M33 or 3.90 M33 before running the 1.50 ADD ON support.
Lets see if I can explain it better.
3.52 M33 and below custom firmware had 1.50 kernel built into it. 3.71 M33 and above does not have the 1.50 kernel built into it so there is an ADD ON that needs to be ran to get 1.50 kernel support for PSP FAT users only.
So you are trying to run 1.50 ADD ON for 3.71 M33 which is why you are getting the error message saying you are not on the correct firmware. You need to be on 3.71 M33 not 3.52 M33 to run the 1.50 ADD ON.

superboy9:
Follow the instructions exactly as they are written. The 1.50 add on doesn't go onto your PSP until you have updated the firmware. So if you are still at 3.52 you can't run it yet. Remember, you have to select the firmware you want from the menu (the one with the black background you mention), and then boot into your PSP and select the update file (e.g. "Update 3.71 M33" in games/memstick) before you will actually be running that firmware. Then you can do the add-on. Also, make sure you need to even use the add-on. When it says "FAT PSP" it just means the older models (the thicker ones), not one of the new slim ones. I'm not sure you would see a different icon if you were running the slim PSP. I think it's just assumed that you will know if you are running a slim PSP or not. I hope this helps.

Edit: Looks like I jumped in too soon. Sorry larrylje; you're a quicker draw than I thought. :)

No worries we are all here to help.
As for them having a FAT or SLIM PSP there is 1 tall tale that indicates they have a FAT PSP 3.52 M33 firmware.

Start MUX 2.0 and go to 3.90 M33 in the list and click on it. The Memory Stick Led should flash for a minute after it has stoped flashing exit out of MUX 2.0. Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the 3.90 M33 update. After you have done this make sure system settings says you are on 3.90 M33.

Turn off the PSP then hold the R Trigger button down while turning the PSP back on. This will bring you to the recovery menu. Go to configuration and then for Game Folder kernel make sure it is set to 3.50 not 1.50 kernel. Then exit out of recovery menu and run the update again.
If you dont have 3.52 m33-4 do as the above meber has suggested an run the 3.52 m33-4 update.

So can you please explain then if what I change by adding the 1.5 kernal addon for my FAT on cfw 3.90/M33-2? It said something about loosing or eracing Remote Play links or something. Does this mean I cant use Remote Play on my FAT w/ cfw anymore or just need to re configure?
2nd, as for my SLIM on cfw 3.90/M33-2, what if any then of 1.5 homebrew can I run anymore on it, such as USBSSS, or FastLoader at least or any Linux OS. Can the SLIM run cfw 2.7x/3.71 apps now if on 3.90/M33-2?

@nuckfuts,
Yes, it means u will lose the function. Putting the 1.50 addon will lose the Korean font and Locationfree player. It is possible to put back the font or the location free player(just put the prx).
Ur slim can run any thing t hat is 3xx kernal. There is a way to run homebrew on ur slim. With the Time Machine or use a eloader
