Hi Larry
Can you help with my ios15 error stated above?
And do I need to backup nand?
I'm eager to get this done and try it out.
thanks
Yes IOS15 can be downgraded on all systems/serials
I recommend everyone to backup their NAND.
Originally posted by Arsenic13: Ive gone through them all and they are all listed as up to date. Need screens to prove it?
I don't know what else to tell you. The only time an update prompt will show up is if...
A new system menu needs to be installed (which you already have the latest).
A new IOS needs to be installed.
A new IOS version needs to be installed.
I don't need a screen shot either. One of the above situations is causing the update prompt.
I also gave a few options on how to avoid the game update message.
I reformatted my new sd card to fat32 twice and downloaded wad files using nas twice. Starting from the beginning each time. I also checked if I had .net frameworks, then done it all again for a third time and still was unable to downgrade ios15 as it could bot open the wad file.
Any other ideas or am I just dumb???(Dont answer that)

Trying to downgrade ios15 after load from SD card I get:
Could not open file: sd:/ios15-64-v523.wad
Could not open file: sd:/ios15-64-v523.wad.out.wad
error reading ios into memory
Downgrade failed Press any button to exit.
I have a new Wii ver4.2E and want to be able to play from usb. Do I need to do every step in the guide for this. I skipped the gamecube part as I had no controller so couldn't move, even with reset/power/eject.
Redownload the WAD files using NUS again.
I tried redownloading the WAD files and trying again (twice), and still am unsuccessful. Still get the same error. My serial number starts with LU72. Anybody else having this problem still? Any fix yet?

Androxx are you having the exact same problem as me?
Could I need a newer version of the pack Larry?

I have a wiikey v. 1 in my wii (USA) and seldom run into problems. This looks like a lot of monkeying and dickin around.
Is this that much of a better way to play backups?

You have more homebrew options doing a softmod. As well softmodding is cheaper then a Modchip.
1 major advantage a softmod has over a hardmod (Wiikey) is loading games off a USB Device.

No this is the most updated way to do things.
Usually when this happens it is due to not having the WAD file downloaded properly using NUS.
Try going to the first page of the guide and refresh the page. Then redownload the softmod pack and format your SD card and start over again.

Larry,I have never utilized homebrew and I dont think I will. Loading a game from a USB device I guess may be convienant, but is that to insure playback of a "backup" (backup being the game image on a hard drve)?

You can put all your backups on 1 drive and can select any game you want to play off the USB Device.

Larry,
I'm trying to get through this step:
Hermes' IOS 222/223:
Launch the HBC and load the cIOS 222 installer.
Press A at the warning screen.
Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS38 merged with IOS37.
Make sure you get installation complete. If you do not and get an error then rerun this step again.
After selecting
"Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS38 merged with IOS37"
It appears that it is attempting to connect to the internet. Being there is no wireless network, I think it freezes up.
Is the internet required to get these files to download to the wii? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.

Having just gotten my Wii and curious about the scene, I've been researching the hacks and I must say, this site in general and you in particular are tops!
You have the patience of Job. I know its frustrating to take the time to spell it all out in the great guide you put together and then......have people ask the very questions you laid out the answers to.
I'm going to wait awhile before I tackle my 4.2U Wii....when I do, I'll use your guide.
Props Man.

Oh alright. Cause ive seen other forums saying to turn it off so Nintendo can't send you updates. Strangely when I first turned it on after the softmod thats when the retail game started showing me the Update Screen. May be a coincidence but idk.

I already told you the cause of the update. I also gave you options on how to block the update. Please stop bringing the crap up over and over again. Your just waisting space and adding more crap that others need to read through.

I signed up here just to say thank you. Everything worked perfectly. Larry, I applaud your patience. Many guides I have followed in the past do not have this much support behind them. This community is lucky to have you.
I do have 1 questions for you.
Can Nintendo detect what I have done and screw me over in someway?
