Agreed. I had problems, and screwed around running wads, upgrading CIOS, downgrading etc etc....and while the wii works fine with originals, it's never worked with backups or usb backups...and now has strange errors running homebrew etc...
I'd like to get rid off everything and try again from scratch!

okay, the first time i tried this, it didn't work, so i started over, and now when i go to do the downgradeIOS35, it says "It seems you are a pirate....bye." Can i skip this step, or how do I fix it.

I am completely new to Wii, let alone modding. My last system was an Atari 2600(Not a joke) but I had a commodore 64 before that.
I am a geek though. I am an electronics engineering technician and work with hardware every day. I have built many computer and network systems and have done a bit of programming and much more, but that's besides the point!
I found every step of this guide to be absolutely idiot proof and think Larry has done a great job of it. I had 0(ZERO) issues with any of it. An spec writer in the military couldn't have done a better job. Kudos.
My Wii is done(I am pretty sure) and I'm in the process of backing up my STORE BOUGHT Mario Kart. Hope it plays well because I am afraid that my 5 year old is going to destroy it if I don't get a copy that I can play!

hey i started the soft mod and i ran downgradeIOS35 and it said i was a pirate and didn't let me do anything. i removed all my VC/wii ware and it still gave me this message. please help

hi friends...
i'm a completly noob in this world....lol
well...i'm from portugal, sorry for my english
i have a wii with the 4.0E firmware.
i have folowed the complete guide, without the extras
i dont had any prob during the process.
well, to test, i have dowloaded the game WORMS A SPACE ODDITY for wii, burned it in a 4x velocity
since here all is ok..
well, when i try to run the game on wii the next screen apear:
AN ERROR HAS OCURRED. PRESS THE EJECT BUTTON, REMOVE THE GAME DISC, AND TURN POWER OFF. PLEASE READ THE WII OPERATIONS MANUAL FOR MORE INFORMATION.
what is wrong friends:(
i have done a thing, what i dont know if is wtong..i have ejected the sd card and formated it..now no sd card is in the wii..
i have to do all guide again...to do this, i have to delete any file?

already used your mod on wii works fine
but trying to do friends done exact same procedure as before
but sannot get past or even get boot.elf to run when inserting sd card
says nothing inserted in sd card slot
insert sd card
comes up with empy blocks with blocks open on bottom ie 15556
but nothing else showing and no asking if want to run boot.elf etc can you help cheers

Hi
I've installed everything as you describe but I can't get the back-up loader to work, I've tried 3 different games and recorded them at different speeds but just get a green screen?
Any help anyone? and in simple terms please.

hi sorry sorted had to try about 17 bannerbomb aad files before sd card would boot elf file

I updated WiiGator002fix with NeoGamma R6. So those that want to update just uninstall WiiGator002fix channel then use Wad Manager to install the NeoGamma R6 wad channel.

Larry I am new to this but your guide is great. Already had 3 people try it successfully. I wanted to know, however, do you know of, or have a guide of your exact install but how to completely remove everything that was done? Also is there any need to worry about on-line gaming? Thanks, if anyone has this info would be greatly appreciated.

evening guys,
hope you can help.
My Wii is a 3.4e, softmodded with 1.03 homebrew channel and CIOS V9.
I softmodded it via the Twilight hack.
I want to update it to 4.0 but just wanted to know what the best step is to do this.
Do I update my wii first via wifi to 4.0, then run the ios60patched wad and then update the CIOS to V13a or is it best to update the CIOS first while im at 3.4 then do the update to 4.0 and ios60 patch?

The first section of the guide says

However, I didn't try this out myself as I had a 4.0E Wii.

sorry just seen my post and i have made myself look silly
what I should've asked really is, is it best to update my CIOS to V13a first while im still on 3.4 and then do the 4.0 update/ios60 patch or does it not really matter?
just concerned if its ok to update CIOS's once in 4.0 but I guess it should be fine?

Yes I had no problem finding 249 immediately.
You must install cIOS38_rev13a using IOS35 in order to have IOS249 (a cIOS usually installs as IOS249). If you skipped that step, you will not find IOS249. Check the guide again.
