Hello to all. Let me first start by saying many thanks to every one who has contributed to this thread. I have actually been following parts of the intructions in this thread on other forums and it was a relief when i actually found the unedited source. Right, please bear with me as i am a reletive noob when it come to the world of sat, and i fully understand that some might be offended that in this, my first post i am steaming straight in and asking for help, but please assured i have really tried my hardest to sort everything out for myself, i have read, read and read some more but there are still a few points that are confusing me, so let me say thanks in advance for any help in pointing me in the right direction.....
Here's where i am upto.. i have managed to successfully flash my DM500s with the Nabilosat darkstar II image, i have inserted the boxkey firstly by converting the serial in the menu which didnt work and then from the serial on the bottom of the box wich was successful, and have all chanels up and running as they should, i have then managed to successfully share with a second box (Spider 7000hd) internally on my home network using cccam 2.1.3 by inputting and Fline in the dm500s and the corresponding cline in the Spider. My first question is do i have to stick with the lines that are stated in the tut for the input of the boxkey (line 317) the fline (line 22) or can i just delete the whole thing and put them on any line i want?? and if this is the case, what else must be added for it all to work, Fline, boxkey, server listen port etc.. So now i have it shareing internally, i would like to share it externally but this is where my head has started to hurt.. my external ip is dynamic, it doesnt change all that often but it does change, from what i have read, i need to give everything on my network a static ip, all computers, ps3, DM500s etc, am i right in saying that i issue all of these with the subnet mask, default gateway and dns adresses listed in the status page of my router under internet, the ones issued with my external ip by my isp? then i need to open a port on my router to the ip address of the dm500s, register a domain name with the ip of the dm500s and also download dns updater and add the registered domain name to dns updater, this is what i dont understand, why is the updater running with the ip of the server, if that has been issued with a static ip? what the happens if the external ip issued by by isp changes? also, why dosnt the updater need to be running on a pc all the time?? this question was posed earlier in the thread but wasnt answered..
i know there is a lot of questions there to be going on with, but i am just trying to understand what i am doing rather than just getting it working and not understanding the principles of what i have done..
Many many thanks in advance Dave

internal cline c: 192.168.x.x 12000 user pass. so you've figured that
external ip adress c:dyndnsipadress 12000 user pass no.
so exactly how tough is this to understand. you setup a hostname on dyndns called (in this case) dynsipadress. its free to do. then you use inaydyn as a tool to update your ip address to the server. and sin e . if you area server you need to port forward port 12000 on your modem to the ip adress of your dreambox. thats it

Right, since my last post i have registered my DM500s's IP with dyndns, i have then added that to my host list on my dns updater and set it running, i have 2 flines in my cccam config file, 1 to my spider, and one of my friends spider i would like to share with, i have deleted the # of the server listen port : 12000 line to make that line active... my spider works fine internally, and i even deleted the ip of the Dm500s and put the dyndns address cline my friend will be using and that also works fine all be it on my internal network. I then re deleted it and swapped it for my origional cline and got my friend to input the the cline dyndnsaddress 12000 id pass on his spider and nothing... i have forwarded port 12000 to my DM500s but when i run port checker it is saying it can ping my router but cant reach my box.. if i change port 12000 to my pc and run port checker it reaches my pc no problem.
once aagain thanks in advance for any info to point me in the right direction, cheers Dave

strange. your friends dyndns cline should not and does not work on an internal box. the box with the card in it (the server) must have dhcp disablein network settings and then port 12000 on your router must be port forwarded to this 'static' ip address as shown in your network settings. on your friends spider you must check network settings also. this spider should have dhcp enabled. now reboot this box. check the network ip of this box. if the router gateway ip is 192.168.1.1 for example then a valid ip for the spider would be 192.18.1.100 for example. A not valid ip is 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.0.0. In this case the network cable is faulty. load cccaminfo on your friends spider and check to open it and see what server information is visible.

I have Darkstar 2 image installed on my DM500S. Everything works fine but in the Sat list it does not show 28.2°E. It says that I am getting my feed from 19.2°E but my channels correspond with channels available on 28.2°E.
I have re flashed but still the same.
Puzzled. Can anyone help ?
Thanks,
Besty

your satellites.xml file is incorrect. go to www.satellites.co.uk dreambox section and download the latest sly bouquets by b16mcc which includes the correct satellites.xml file. upload the bouquet files using dreamboxedit

just pop the satellite.xml file in to var/etc (where cccam.cfg is) then find the satellite you want and do a scan .

Hopeing someone can help. Have setup a 500s server and client which seem to work fine until I reset router. When router is reset client stops working. I have checked dyndns settings and the new dynamic ip address is being updated but can take hours for 500s client for start working again. Should it take this long

does the server (the box with the card in it)have dhcp enabled if it does disable it (if dhcp is enabled and the router is switched off when its switched on it can give the server a different ip address)it should not take hours for the update maybe a minute or so.

Hi, piopat thenks for the quick reply. I have a static ip on server box and dyndns forwarded to server box port 12000. It was working fine when initall setup thanks to your tutorial but does not reconect after router is switched off even though dyndns ip is been updated. Setup works fine on local network if I change cline to suit.
Thanking you in advance

your saying when you switch off your router and switch it back on the next day (thats connected to the server )the client that you have cant view any pay channels untill hours later .if you are using an ethernet cable (to connect the box to the router)try changing it as it may be faulty or damaged it would seem that your router is ok as your computer can connect to the internet fine .

Hi piopat, that is correct I dont think there is a problem with the cables router as I can access internet from the same line as both boxes and also can access both boxes using dcc. Also client working fine on local network. I'm going to start from scratch again with both boxes and see what happens

Hi Guys,
Im new to this so please go easy on me.
I read the instructions in this thread but i cant quiet see how to get a dm500s to work with a Sky card inserted in it?
I have my own Sky card and a dm500s with edg-nemesis image on it.
For some reason Cccam isnt an addon option with it. but it does have Dccamd. Can i use this?
I've also tried digital-kaos's image and it has cccam as an addon option but when i attempt to install it by the blue button, the dm500s seems to restart and ccam is never installed
Any help appreciated Guys please?
Thanks
John

ok, for starters i recommend pli image always for dm500. pli offer consistent support and have stable images. granted they will not have cccam loaded by default but this you can do using the blue buttton download. once this is done the next stage is to get the card working in the box. go to http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/dream...r-v0-9-0-a.html which will generated the cccam.cfg file for you with your boxkey. once generated this file should be transferred into /var/etc/

Thanks,
I've just installed Pli Jade (Lovely image by the way :) ) on 2xdm500s. Both seem to have cccam already on them as default cams.
So now im just waiting until the sky box is free for a while, so i can pop the card into a dm500s
So now i just run that software you linked as per the screenshots on that page, with my Serial and ip details?
What by the way is a 'hidden engineers menu'?

gave you the link to get proper boxkey. have never used what you suggest. don't use pli jade for the simple reason that it is built for dm500 authentic boxes. use the chinese version where i have never seen such a menu?
