does anyone have problems with the tuner quality of cloned boxes? i am missing a lot of channels on my dm500s but my sky box has no issues, so sat signal is at least fairly good. i've done rescan on dm500 but still missing lots of channels so i don't think it's a transponder or freq. issue. anyone with similar problems?

depending on the age of the image your using it may need an up todate satellite.xml file ,you can easily create one with all the latest frequencies here
http://satellites-xml.eu/
just click on all ,then type in the security code and click on download to download to your pc . then open dream control center and ftp the file from your computer to the var/etc folder in your dreambox ,reboot the box and do an automatic transponder scan .

spot on pat, 9161lee, dm800 has esata. most esata drives come with esata cable (except aldi one which is rubbish). lacie have good esata drives. as i already said you can add a second tuner to the dm800 via usb which will allow you to watch and record. haupage usb tuner is supported by most images

dm500 does not suffer from poor tuner. have used many. never once an issue. pat has explained how to program ur box. upto you now to do it. apologies if this sounds direct but i have never once encountered a dreambox dm500 tuner failure is over seven years;

i agree with fintann the dm500 has a good tuner and ive rarely heard of one being faulty (but you could be one of the few exceptions )the reason i say this is you say the sky box has no problems . i do know a person that found the inner hard copper cable (within the satellite cable ) did not extend far enough beyond the f connector to make a good connection with the dreambox and they kept losing the channels ,so it may be worth a look .the only other thing i can think of is a corrupt image but as you have some channels that seems unlikely.

i've programmed the box exceatly has pat has explined with the xml file for astra 28 which i d/l from from the link supplied last night. ftp was successful, box was rebooted and rescaned, still the problem exsists. signal levels are above 80% on my meter (although i am unable to read horiz. high) which is more than acceptable for any install i do.

The dreambox ip should be visible under settings, network settings.

If you right click on the little network connection icon on your laptop (in the system tray) then choose status, and click on the support tab, you should see your ip address there.

leanne as sg8 says a reflash might be the best thing ,now you can flash with dreamup (if you have flashed a dm500c before the process is the same ,but you will need a newer version of dreamup and of course a suitable image for the dm800) but it will take a bout 45 minutes to flash . or you could flash via web browser which is a lot quicker ,before flashing the box you need to know what sim and bootloader version the box is . if its a new clone it will most likely be sim 2.01 bootloader76 (BL76) but you still have to check ,so power off the box and power it back on and look at the little lcd screen on the front of the box and it should display the sim and bootloader version of the box .then we can point you to a suitable image for the box .

hi pat
i spoke to you few days you gave me a suitable nabilosat image for the dm800hd
NabiloBlackHole v0.12 BU DM800 sim2

im now struggling with the dreamup application
it said unable to ping box using serial mode so i then pressed flash and it seems to be downloading the image but i dont know if i did it correct

also after it being flashed can you point me to somewhere i can do step by step set up after the flash as earlier i got really confused and the language was all wrong on the box and how to set up my sky dish to do an automatic scan for channels

also for this image can you explain how i download ccam as im not sure how to do this

thanks
leanne x

leanne is it flashing the box as we speak ?(that will take a bit of time upwards of an hour ,the time should be counting down in the log box in dreamup )dont unhook the box untill you see flash completed flash successfull .if it has flashed successfully disconnect the box from the pc and hook it up to the tv and sat dish and then plug in the box and switch it on (it may power on by itself ) the first thing to do is go through the installation process which is simply setting the language /the time and date etc ,if your dish is a fixed dish pointed at the sky satellite you need to choose one single satellite and pick the satellite astra/eurobird 28.2 east and of course scan that satellite for channels .

i have to pop out for an hour or so leanne ,let me know how the flash went and ill get back to you ..

hi pat
it failed

16:12:01 box is flashing from its memory...
16:12:02 Flashing failed (!!! 002 CRC failed), box will be unusable now!!

this is what happened when i flashed it and when it finished
maybe it is because it didnt ping properly

it has the previous gemini image still on
language in german with it saying loading enigma 2 all the time
