Yes you can get a USB adaptor from Maplins - USB to NULL MODEM, a bit expensive there though. This is what you need and a better price - check it out >>>>>

If you are getting the message along the lines of "this firmware is unfit for reciever" then it means exactly that, it is not the correct firmware for your box, you are trying to put firmware meant for the BLUE box on to a RED box or vice versa. As regards you using a USB Adaptor then it needs to be assighned to the correct COMM port, it is a common problem with the USB Adaptors so have a look here on the first page of this thread and follow the guide.

Go to page one of this thread gazza, and go down the page, it will show you I am in Uk but I am sure that the symbol rate is 6.875. it is quite easy when you get to the stage of doing a powerscan via the yellow button, you just alter via remote in the symbol rate box, but as said click link to first page and go down it is all there.

How to put the firmw@re onto your box.

1. Connect your Eurov0x unit to your PC using the Null modem serial cable as shown above in the other post.

2. Plug in the power cord on the Eurov0x unit and wait until (----) appears on the front display. If it has been flashed before you will see 4 digits instead, leave your Eurov0x on standby.

3. On your PC/Laptop Run the UFL Eurovox program which you downloaded in the post above.

3a (Optional recommended step to save you time) Press the Upload button to save your channel set up favourites etc as they currently are, Save this to a folder on your PC for use later.

4.Click on the 'download' button then wait until you see the following and click start..

If you do not see this ? check your connections between pc & Eurov0x, also if you get the mesage system reset, turn your box off at the mains, hit the download button then plug your box in, (this may require a few attemps).

5. Now download will start and you will see the following,

Eurov0x unit will now show dnld flashing on the front display.

6. After the above window ? the following will display

7, When all is finished the following will display,

Now your box is done,

If you did the optional step at 3a, then using the UFL click browse to where you saved your file (CDF file) and click download in the lower box on the Kuro program, and it will reload your favourites etc as you originally had them, if you didn't save your CDF you will have to rescan your box using the powerscan method which is explained below ;)

It does happen ;) you tend to look behind things when you are trying to hard, so give it a go and take your time, it will work out fine. If you are not near a PC when doing it, it would be wise to do a little cut and paste and print it out, good luck.

You have the box on standby haven't you, and you are using the correct firmware for the box, now make sure you have a little patience when it says "downloading failed" wait for a little while before doing anything else as this is common and usually changes to "Successfull" and are you using a NULL MODEM lead on;y or an adaptor with it.

Leeds
You may need to install drivers and config your ports for the null modem - usb adapter to work.
There are links on how to do this on here.

It's not a problem providing you do have the correct drivers installed, and correct COMM port assigned, it is a lot more hassle free to have an old laptop or a standalone PC with the correct 9 pin port, and running OS - XP. But check out dooby's graphical guide as well as HiTecks excellent guide to doing the COMM port part, different box (Starview Super), only want you to check/follow the assigning bit, good luck, it is with regards to Vista.

Are you sure that you have the correct NULL MODEM lead, and that you are showing a little patience when you get that message, because it is quite common and usually will change to "Download Successful" after a short while. Go to HiTeck's guide for a complete how too on the first page of this thread.

Hi Malci,

I bought a Eurovox ex 1000 sl about a month ago and downloaded the software for Ireland, but although it does work it has constant episodes of picture freezing, maybe its when the codes or changing I don't know but its very annoying. Do you know if there is a genuine problem with these boxes or maybe the sofware on them? I'd really appreciate if you could let me know if you've heard of any problems regarding this box as I'm thinking of buying a different box.

Cheers.
