Quote: [posted by Brian100] A good while ago I experimented "converting" 4:3 (full screen) widescreen movies (IE The Thing, Donnie Brasco) to anamorphic using DVDRB/CCE. Have any of you guys tried it yet?. Because if you have not it is definitely worth a go. I tell you the first time i watched "The Thing" after conversion it darn near blew my mind away.
Incase anyones curious : "OPTIONS/AVS OPTIONS/ADVANCED(EXPERT)OPTIONS/CONVERT FROM LB 4:3 TO 16:9"
That was something I added because I used to do it all the time when I did manual CCE backups. There is nothing I hate more than putting a movie in on my 16:9 monitor only to have it show as a tiny letterbox with black all around it. It really does a good job -- but the credit for the quality goes to AVISYNTH's LanczosResize() filter... it's incredible. DVD-RB just dots the i's and crosses the t's to make sure it works right.

@ brobear...thanks for explaining about the terms and the tip to look at the context rather than the word itself. And, it is that editing you were talking about that I would like to do but I'll come back about that when I start to do it.
Re 'dvd x rescue', you didn't post about it as such. I recalled seeing somewhere in another thread or forum that you had 'dvd x platinum' thus you had 'dvd x rescue'. I was interested in your opinion of it.
One of my reasons for considering the program was for those occasions when the o.e.m. movie you want to backup is the disc with slight scratches etc on it e.g. a favourite or hard-to-get movie bought cheap at a flea-market.
@bigorange...that is good to hear.

Hey i have a question, on Remake, is there any sort of guide out there about it? I want to use it but, RB/CCE was a big learning curve and i don't really want to go over that again.
Thanks,
Pop Smith
P.S. i have already done multiple backups with RB/CCE so i know how that part works.

A good buffing tool to take out the scratches is the best way of dealing with most scratched discs. You can check out the type I'm talking about at this link. http://www.digitalinnovations.com/index.html I use the Skip DR and it has given good service and has more than paid for itself.

Thanks Sophocles, now you may call me Sir Bear. :) I hadn't noticed the Senior on there until you mentioned it. It happened since I was on last time. I'd say they made me a senior so I would be nicer; but I have always had such a sweet demeanor, how could I improve? ;)

@ brobear...
Thanks for the link, I did check it out. This topic (disc repair) is being simultaneously discussed here and the 321 Rip forum...so forgive me if I get muddled.
@ bigo, doc409, brian100 & double d...
Add my congrats too. I am ignorant of the process and presumably an elevation to Senior Member is accompanied by the usual perks of high office (salary increase, stock options and a better Superannuation plan), so well done! :)

Ooops, just realised, I forgot to specifically mention brobear's name in my congrat list. My apologies, no offence intended, Oh Esteemed One :).
(Actually had it in opening of my last post to brobear, then deleted the reference intending to lump all you guys together, then forgot what I had done and then...Ah Heck, you know how it happens. Getting old and forgetful isn't any fun....

I hear that Jack Black makes a real mean mint julep, also. Or is that just for your friends to the north?

I find it does pretty good with all applications, no matter what ails ya and no matter where you live! Of course my friends to the slightly north do have horse racing to go with their mint julips. ;)

bigO...unfortunately I am a non-drinker so I cannot find refuge in that comfort. Also don't smoke and my wife won't let me go out with 'bad wimmen'...SIGH :)
It was funny bumping into some of you at the Rip...didn't realise how connected the circle was.
I am gong to see if I can get skipDR here, maybe eBay.com.au
