USB EXTREME info/comp/problems new!

Since i'm so frustrated with all the answers that i read in other threads wich are no use at all i'm starting my own!
The object of this thread is only post replies that are about usb extreme please...Most of you probably know why i say this...
I got my usb extreme 2 days ago, i was lucky my hd worked with it(80 gb maxtor 7200)
usb extreme works good, but not great!
I'm using it with a slimline model ps2.
Loading times ARE slower then DVD! (almost double, but not quite)
I'm installing my games with the windows GUI found on www.usbextreme.com
Is there any difference? I mean could it be that games work installed with the dos command and not with the win GUI?
I once found a different program you can use, but lost the website...anyone know if there is any other program out there to install/format? link?
These games i got WORKING:
Ace Combat: SL
GTA: San Andreas (found website that says it hangs, for me no probs so far...)
Mercenaries
MGS3: Snake Eater
Fifa Street
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3
NOT WORKING:
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (loads but hangs right away)
Gran Turismo 4
God of war
Winning eleven 8 Liveware
Need for speed underground 2
As you can see the not working list are great games!(more i found on other sites but haven't tested them myself like: Tekken 5, Fifa 2005,...) I hope they bring out patches or a better intall program to fix this...
Basicly i'm searching for patches/fixes/others programs to install games. So that i (and other people that read this post;)) can get more games to work...
So any info/hints/liks...would be GREAT! ;-)

Hi there... i just got USBeXtreme today and i've tested 3 original games with my PSTwo :)
- GTA: Vice City
- GTA: San Andreas
- Gran Turismo 4
Only "Vice City" works fine and loading time is equal to the DVD...
"San Andreas" works but there's no color in the game... its all black and white like old movies :(
GT4 doesn't work!!!
Does your "GTA: San Andreas" works fine?
I also tried "Asterix and Obelix XXL" that i've downloaded from the web ... but it doesn't work! I think its because its not an original... what do you think?

Hello pps
does anyone know how to copy downloaded iso files to the usb drive ?
i got usbextreme today and copied all of my ligit game disks to the drive (a 250 gIg western Digital)
but the copied disks look like they have been split into files
exactly 1 gIg in size .
do i need to mount the iso files onto a false drive to copy them with the "UL_Install" command ??

I use Daemon Tools to copy isos, works fine ...if the game works ;)

masilli my san andreas works fine i think, but mostly i play with the original game disc... Love the game and wouldn't want it to hang before i save ;)
Dunno about asterix... if it installs then normally it's a good copy i think, some games just don't load :(

and its starting to look like there has to be some kind of technique
or hardware compatability issue thats keeping ppl from enjoying usbextreme
primitive seems to be doing ok with it !.

I realy want to get midnight club 3 to work, it doesn't! maybe some patches or something will be available soon, i kept the iso on my pc to be sure (was rented ;))
Devil may cry 3 works (only intro is choppy)
rest i don't know

You games could be in black and white if they are NTSC? I am finding that my NTSC images are black and white on my PAL system, but the PAL ones run fine.
I have had success with Tekken 5 (B&W), Cyclone Circus, GTA San Andreas
Failures so far with:
World Championship Snooker
Midnight Club 3:DUB Edition
Have a few images more on my pc to try.......

Do you think it's possible to turn a NTSC game into MultiRegion with USBeXtreme?
I've been checking my games and the "colored" ones are PAL or MultiRegion... the other ones are NTSC! :(

There is a NTSC <> PAL Conversion tool. I have run out of space on my HDD to put Tekken 5 back on to test. Midnight Club was an NTSC copy, but this didnt work as NTSC nor PAL. Will come back with the answers to the PAL Conversion on Tekken 5.
If you want the conversion tool, i got mine from megagames.com

probably cause it's NTSC:
Fifa street, San andreas and Devil may Cry 3 work fine with me (PAL)
Winning eleven 8? You mean liveware?
Cause that one doesn't work at all with me ...
what patch do you use if it's liveware?
Thx for that link dbiscuit, but don't need it, probably others here do ;)
Now up to find a link with fixes to get those none working games to WORK :D

PsychoMe ==> The game i have is "World Soccer Winnig Eleven 8" and i've download it from the net and its NTSC... but its equal to the "Pro Evolution Soccer 4" PAL version i have... maybe its the same game with diferent names...

you can add burnout 3 to the no play list
This and midnight dub seem to load but then hang. damn them!!!!
Hopefully there will be something soon to help. If you get some patches pyscho let us know!!!

GDI :( does anyone know if there are people working on patches???? and with god of war if you took out the garbage files and made it a 4gb file wouldnt it now be a dvd5 meaning it can be played??? and does any one konw WHY dvd9s cant be played on usbextreme??????

I've just tried to convert GTA:San Andreas with NTSCONV and with PS2.NTSC.to.PAL.VMode.XChanger from NTSC to PAL...
With NTSCONV it took me almost 2 hours and the file got corrupted (bad choice)... with NTSC2PAL it took about 10min and the file was OK, but with twice the size...
After installing on the USB HD, i run the game with USBeXtreme on my PS2, it starts OK and colored, but it hangs up right after the credits, even if i don't skip it...
Now i'm gonna try with other games, just to see the results... thanks for the hints guys!!

Who says dvd9's can't be played?
I have god of war, shrinked till about 4gb (works with friends hd loader) but doesn't work with usb extreme!
it's not about the dvd type some games just don't work...I also hope some website/people bring out patches or something soon

God of War: You should read the threads on GOW. The HDLoader is a mod. Even if someone were to do the same for USB(Extreme/Advance), there's no way to load it onto the slim models. Sony corrected the memory exploit.
(I take it back, you can attached a hd directly to the slim, but it involves some tricky soddering.)

heya Guys
my installation of iso files and ligitmate disks worked aLLMOST
perfectly !
Here`s my list of games that played with NO hiccups
GTA vice city (PAL)
GTA San An- (PAL)
Manhunt (also a rockstar game) (PAL)
Need for speed underground 1 (PAL)
True Crime (PAL)
Turok 2 (PAL)
Devil May Cry 3 (NTSC)
Inspector Gadget and the Gadgetinis (one for the kids) (PAL)
Playboy Mansion (sim game) (PAL)
MOST of the games had Very choppy loading vid`s
(Devil may cry 3 was the worst)
but all of these played very well once started .
Games that didnt work
Need for speed underground 2 ( ? )
Disgaea (NTSC)
Midnight Club 3 (PAL)
RumbleFish (JAP ? )

if other new games work, there must be a way to fix this with god of war, midnight club 3,... Dunno that much about it, but i think it's possible! (or hope;)) now we only someone who knows what he's doing and maybe make patches for the iso file? Or am i a real noob sayin this :)

Guys
Another game that works - Metal Gear Solid 3.
I am also going to create a compatibility page for usb extreme that anyone can update. This way we can easily keep an eye on working games. Expect this by the end of this week though as i have exams!!

Hey guys,
I recently got my usbextreme NTSC version, I have a 160gb WD HDD, I tried loading Mercenaries using the windows gui, no luck it said "please wait, loading" for a flash and then the screen went black. The games come up on the screen however it said I only have 64kb used space on the usb extreme screen, and on my comp it says there is 6gb used space. What's going on? any suggestions??

OK. So I got the games installed on the drive. I installed GTA:SA and Mercenaries. USBExtreme tells me now there is 8 gb used. However, when I hit "X" to start the game it flashes the "Loading..." message for a second and then the screen turns black and stays black. Am I doing something wrong??? Can someone help me?
