The spartan seen in the trailer IS MC and that armor IS green. If I am correct, then the spartans in the book all had the same color suits. Until later on when their team was divided into two seperate ones, the reds and Blues and MC stayed Green for Cheif rank identification.

Can anyone tell me what the "Easter egg" (referred to in the announcement FAQ on bungie.net) in the trailer is? And has anyone got any theories on what appears to be a hybrid BR/AR? It looks very much like the old assault rifle, but notice the elongated BR-like barrel. And what's up with the glove plates? they've changed too, which is also mentioned in the FAQ. I have so many theories running through my head about this game right now it makes me feel warm and squishy! And every time I watch the trailer, I drool on my keyboard....

Yeah, I thought it was pretty obvious to be honest. On the road sign, it is the image if a Grunt.

That is is the MC. It is said in a section on Bungie and was stated when dowloading off Xbox Live. His armour is ver battle damaged and he is in the desert. Destert = sand and dirt. Sand and dirt + wind = a dirty MC, thats why he appears brownish in colour.
I aslo dont think that is his acknowledgement light. Although his light is blue, not red like someone stated, I doubt highly that it would be shown externally as it could compromise location when in battle. When in hiding the last think you want to happen is a light flashing on your visor.
What do you all the think the artifact is? The arc, control room for the ark, gateway to the arc etc...?

Yeah, I agree with that papa_face, I don't think that's the Ark. Looks more reminiscent of a control room-type structure, indicating that Earth could be another Halo.
As for the new assault rifle, I don't think it's a BR/AR combo, I think it'll just be a more accurate, stable AR (but not to the level of the BR). Hopefully this means there will be no SMG....the SMG sucked.
As for the possibility of other Spartans, I didn't notice the light on MC's visor (I'll watch again later), but it seemed to me in the books that the acknowledgement lights were on the inside of the visor only, just like all the other info from the HUD.
What I'd like to know is what all happened between Halo 2's end and the trailer. For example, how did MC get of the Forerunner ship that the Prophet of Truth was on? Whatever happened, he obviously failed (b/c the Covenant were able to take Earth), but I still want to know.

Yeah. Well you have to rememeber that the teaser is a third of the way through the game therefore its likely that we do battle with the covenant at some stage.

That's good to know. Glad they're not just going to forget about that abrupt ending and skip ahead of it. That will make for interesting gameplay, that in beating the first third of the missions you will fail at saving Earth. I hope I get to kill the Prophet of Truth. It could definitely happen; not only would there still be lower Prophets that could advance to take his place, it is not absolutely confirmed that Mercy is dead. We last saw him being attacked by infection forms, but he could be immune just like Sgt. Johnson.

yeah, wouldn't that be a kick to the nuts? I didn't think about the possibility of mercy to survive. But that would make for an awesome battle.
Another thing I wish to know is, where does the Arbiter come into play and how does he evolve and change the story line? He was not part of the books so maybe... just maybe everything is gonna be different.
Whats your say on that?

I think the Arbiter will be in, but wont play as big a part as Halo 2. They cant simply not have him in, it wouldnt work correctly.

the arbiter would be better in smaller ammounts, used to explain parts of the story not otherwise explainable. he was in halo 2 a bit too much, but id have to say the mission at the end with the swords and the elite uprising against the brutes with random motivational speeches is my fave.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

of course the arbiter was fun... for a while. It just wasn't the same. This time around you played someone who had nothing to lose (arbiter) as opposed to someone who has to fight for everything that exists (MC). Nothing makes the arbiter oh-so-special except for the lame armor that is ancient compared to the new standard Elite stealth field.
I dont know if you understand this but the arbiter sucked lol

I thought you said:
Quote: dont have an xbox nor would i get live.
or have you played it somewhere else.
Anyway. I think the worst thing that could happen is that bungie would put the arbiter back into the story, atleast as much as halo 2.
Also does anyone else think that the trailer is from the planet reach, and not earth?

my friend has an xbox and my dads roomate has one, but neither have live. my friend used to but he doesnt game much anymore.
i finally got a non-ruined copy of halo 2 and imma play it thru. ive only played a bit past "the arbiter" and from the uprisging to the end. inbetween is a blur.

the planet is definately earth, I read it from bungie
And yes that spartan is Master Chief.
Seeing that Halo 3 is the last chapter of the trilogy its more than possible that spartans Will, Fred, and Linda may return as for Kelly who was abducted by Dr.Halsey on a top secret mission in the Halo books that may also be reveiled in Halo 3.
So, for those of you who read the books, What do you think that secret mission is about that Dr.Halsey knocked out one of her spartans for?
By the way I looked at the trailer real closely a couple of times even in slow motion, and I didnt see any acknoledgement lights from other spartans on MCs hud.
Peace out!

Maybe kelly will come back bionicly upgraded or something lol, who knows? maybe even part flood / part Spartan and thats gonna be a boss? or an ally? or who knows?
And plus, it couldn't be planet Reach unless it was a prequel because planet reach was glassed.

Even though I know its not reach it could technically be reach.
Anyway. I believe DR Halsey was involved in a secret spartan project. They basically took the spartans and a lot of marines to the Halo's where there is advanced technologies. They they did experiments on the spartans with flood genes to develop regenerative capabilities. But most of this went wrong - the result a lot of human flood forms, which would explain the rediculous amount of human flood forms on both delta and 04.

How do you think the game will start. In the other games we were with other humans and they gave us a walkthrough of our armour. I dont think anyone is there to guide him, nor is there any reason to reinterface with his armour onboard the forerunner ship.

haha dont speculate on the whole premise of the story, the first book already says how the spartans were made.

@drluv
Who are you talking to?
If about my theory, go on the Bungie forums and look around, it is a very popular theory. I only touched the surface.
and no the 4th one isnt out yet. The 4th and 5th are currently being made to my knowledge.

oh yea and i can almost expect to see more spartans in the next installmant. as for cortanna being infected, as stated in the 3rd book of the series cortanna's programming degrades over time as do all a.i.'s programming (remember 343 guilty spark?). well that could have been cortanna degrading and dieing... actually i think we can count on a cortanna death scene... as well as listening to/seeing her degrade as she tries to help you.
