Thanks sly_ I knew that. My point is why many references advocate using 2 dif progs when one can do both. I have tried copies with Nero without the image to the hard drive and these have all worked as well (old habits using the HD each time)

Can someone please tell the whole procedure of copying PS2 cd/Dvd backups successfully. What programs to use, what media, exact procedure, like burn image first, etc.

Any help will be appreciated and also can you tell me if mirror dvd-r disks would be ok for copying dvd games.

Please someone help.

Well zub7,
Welcome to the backing-up world! lol. Their are several, and I do mean several ways to back-up a DVD format game. The free way which is the one I use!, Is to Burn an Image to your hard drive of the game with the Burning Image Wizard of Alcohol 120% < "free software", and then Burn the Image at a 2X Speed not 4X to your DVD-R or DVD+R using DVD Decrypter. <also "free software". "DVD+R's are supposed to be more compatable" I use Memorex 4X DVD+R media DVD's. I found a 50 pack for $49.99. Perty much any DVD media brand is good for PS2 games. <Just my Opinion> You can find tutorials on using DVD Decrypter in this forum just look at the Messeges. You can also use Nero 6 to do the same process. Burn the Image to your HD first and then take that imgae and burn it at 2X to your DVD+R or DVD-R media. Any questions which I know you will have, let me know! I have perty much backed-up all my PS2 games, old and new! Hope this Helps......:)

Well I got another flip top in and outfitted for my friend on his v9 he got over Christmas. Neither swap disk works. So they altered the v9 so swap won't work anymore per the rumors? Anyone know a work around? Fuming!

Thanks Soulja. Yes I mean Swap CD 3.0 is a no go. You are correct Swap DVD 2.0 works fine but wont load the CD-R backups. Guess we will just have to for CD 4.0 ;). If anyone knows how to get CD-R's on a v9 to work that info would be great. Most of them are DVD anyway so no loss.

that will take a while they will probably find a way to play cd backups with a version 9 or 10 maybe if you load the dvd loader and then put a original ps2 cd in to change the format then load a cd backup im not sure if that would work cause i have no need to try but if you know what im talking about then one of you could try

Thanks alot djesusjay, i really appreciate it. any way i have one more question; i was about to order a ps2 flip top cover but there seems to be hardly any UK sites that sell them and i want to buy one with the PAL swap magic disks. Can you tell me of any sites that ship to uk and have PAL swap magic disks.

I'll really appreciate your help.

I have 2 questions about the flip top method..

Has anyone used it on a V1 PS2, how many games have you done? Which ones don't work?

Is there a particular version of Swap Magic discs you need for a V1. Does version of Swap Magic change with PS2 Version?

Thanks!

it might be the memorex cd's. have you tried any other brands? If other backups work, and all these failures are on these memorex discs, i'd have to try to change media first just to make sure that wasn't it.
