The simplicity that CloneDVD uses makes it really great. Very easy for beginners and yet produces a quality backup. Kudos sylsoft.

I was using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink all was fine till I met Madagascar. .... I used Anydvd/clonedvd and it ripped and copied first time no probs so I would not only say a BIG YES but buy the two together and save some noney AND i entered the coupon code "afterdawn" or "cdfreaks" (without the quotes) at the checkout screen and got a further $10 discount!! These two progs are dead simple to use, three button pushes and you're backing up your dvd!!

Yes, best two programs I have ever bought. The worst program I ever bought was DVD XCOPY.

The other thing I really like about AnyDVD and CloneDVD is they very regularly publish updates (3 in the last week!!) so they are very active with the product which is encouraging!

It won't be long before it gets too cumbersome to udate/fix/patch AnyDVD for use with no longer developed products, ie: Shrink. I love Shrink, but technology is moving on. Let's hope CloneDVD2 incorporates some of Shrink's features... There are several work-arounds to keep using Shrink (besides SlySoft's bending over backwards to keep AnyDVD "friendly" with it), though...

That being said: YES, buy them...

forget that CloneDVD is one of the best transcoders around, forget about its simplicity, forget about its great speed, forget about its great quality, forget about all that. you want to know what i love the most about clonedvd2? the sheep eating popcorn and then writing, LOL.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Buy these? YES! I own both & I just backed up Red Eye, Constant Gardner and Transporter 2 with absolute Perfection, & fast too! ALL done with CloneDVD 2 & Latest AnyDVD. The fastest was Transporter 2, FULL Back-Up, about 20 minutes from start to completion. Playback-PERFECT. Did it in FULL SCREEN too. I can't think of any other software that could've done it with ZERO trouble.

One should keep backup copies of ALL software. Always a good practice. Yes? Can a get a YES, Heck Yes? I don't think Slysoft has much to worry about though. They're "Sly"! And VERY COOL too! Not to mention Extremely Intelligent Folks!

I honestly would have to agree that I visually like using AnyDVD and Clone DVD2 if backing up a DVD to a SINGLE DVD disc ONLY. Clone DVD2 is easy to use and AnyDVD runs in the background like a stepchild that is a little encryption hacker.

Unfortunately as you will learn as I have I did not have such a great outcome when it came to using CLONE DVD2, and backing up my own store bought DL DVD, to a DVD+R DL disc, and believe you me I went through a ten pack of Verbatim DL discs and I'm still pissed at myself. I had a major problem after inserting and trying to watch on over five different DVD players, and when it came to the layer transition, then I got the MIDDLE FINGER from ALL my DVD players. I hope Slysoft puts in a major fix for this layer transitioning issue, as I will purchase the product if this major problem is fixed. Just sucks when you have to pay, and you discover it when you get your hopes up and buy those expensive as heck DVD+R DL discs and they just become coasters or garbage, your choice! Just had to be honest. It is a good product for compressing to a single DVD, but for now forget about trying to do a DVD+R DL disc backup.

And just let me post before some people come in and posts threads saying that they were able to do a working DVD+R DL disc asks the afterdawn pros and they will give you the real answer as they gave me. That it is not supported yet and does not work.

I will say I sure hope it does work and they release an update as I do enjoy watching the sheep eat popcorn too, and like watching them scribe stuff down in their book. I have had many "O" nights were I have been backing up slowly dozing off at my station, then I'm grandfully awaken by the finished effect chime drums of Clone DVD2. I'm hoping for a public fix soon as I do really like the product though!

@digit777,
I have no trouble with backing up DVD+RDL with CloneDVD 2. In fact, I like the results. It may be the speed you selected? I don't know. The default speed is Maximum. I change my speed to 4x with Verbatim DVD+RDL discs. The outcome is Excellent. When I first did a couple, I did'nt change the spped & there were a few "glitches" in the Movie. After I change it. It was fine. In my opinion, if you are backing up to a a Dual Layer DVD+RDL. I usually use Nero Express & booktype to DVD-ROM. With Nero Express, do not select "quick copy". Let it burn to the hard drive first, then the Blank. This method works very well. I still prefer CloneDVD 2 for MOST all my
back-ups. A lot depends on your setup, media brand & type & last but not least, your burner & firmware. I bought CloneDVD 2 & Love It! With AnyDVD with it, it's unstoppable!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.
