ZhenYevan : ok so is your xbox softmoded or not? cuz you said someting about being red led earlier ,
what you need to do is put retail ms dash files on C
if you delete them and dont put sometinmg you will end up with an error code 21

lol, i've gotten that b4. but stop freaking out and doing all this stuff and just take all of his directions, or else u'll wind up like i did, screwed. anyways, got a question 4 gus (again, i know): is there a way to overide the stock BIOS momentarily so i can fix the box like grounding D0 or something with a jumper, or should i just get the solderless chip?

unless you know how the xbox was made theirs no way temporarly besides chipping it ( buy soilderless cuz even soilderless can break xbox but less chances vs soildering one )
or just spend 5 mins recovering the xbox , the tut is under my signiture

onthedge : just loook thro your options for disableing / auto off or turn off primary ... u'll get it theirs no harm in doing this so give a shot...

the closest thing i can find is to disable the primary drive, but then it doesn't notice any drive when i load the software. btw, if i built a drive from scratch, do i need to put stuff in the E too? i have the MS Dash in the C and i don't know if iu need anything else.

C is needed to load the ms dash E is NOT needed . if you fellow all steps you should be able to do it right .....
ask pirrup ( he made that tut) you have a timing it has to be hot ... you cannot just plug it on the pc lol you have to have both pc and xbox open and clsoe to each other then power on xbox then unplug the ide cable ( while its beeing powerd ! ) and plug it on the pc ide cable ... again ask pirrup or buy a soilerless chip

I get everything But when I do number 14# it just boots right to the ms dashboard
This is my first time with softmod
Use to hardmod.

once you rebooted it should of asked to press A if you did press A and ms dash loaded and asked for time set it restart and it should work

IF THE softmod asked for pressing A then press it , if you already did this and microsoft dashboard loads asking time and date SET IT then restart and it should load ux or evo depending on what u choose , power it on with power button not eject tray

Ok well very stupid/n00b question--I KNOW. I'm asking because I've never even played xbox, but a friend of mine has one and I've softmodded other consoles so he wants me to do the same with his xbox.
What does softmodding an xbox actually enable you to do? Everything a chip does? Like say after I softmod it... to play a backup of a game, do I just pop in the backup and run it like a normal game... or is there a certain procedure/boot disc I have to use? Someone please explain.
Once again sorry for the n00b question, but I'd like to know what I'm doing before I try it :P

there about the same modchips let u do a little more...but soft mods let u back up games change ur dash play dvd's if u have xbmc on it and lets u read iso's or data disk..and more

ok this softmod leterliy does exactly what the chip does . the only thing it doesnt do that the chip does is let you upgrade a hdd in 15 secs and a special options such as lcd screens with temp controls ,
ok now this softmod broke the secirty code which means your allowed to use UNSIGED codes , aka backed up games disc backup games from hard drive,playing old schol games such as super mario nes super nintendo n64 ps1 ( NO NOT PS2) sega all gameboy . watching dvds without the dumb dvd playback kit streaming with xbmc and much much more , www.xbox-hq.com/html go there make an account join ask questoins its an xbox only website with all tools that this site doesnt have , this mod was created overthere . and you need aid 3 auto installer deluxe 3 , again ask xbox hq for that to d/l it.

buy it new it pays off, how much is your original game worth from keeping it to be unplayable? buy it in a local game stop store eb games circit city or the offical website... its only 30 bucks , the game i recommend 007 auf aka agent under fire , NON plaitnum edition really fun game and not expensive... that you can find under 10 bucks in gamestop

wasted05 where did you get it for that cheap... ebay? Cheapest I see on eBay is $30 (including shipping). It's also $30 on Amazon (free shipping). Walmart.com doesn't have it for xbox... I've read other articles saying they got it cheaper... so where else should I check?
