RMVB is a common file format for quick Direct Downloads of Anime (if thats what your implying) - deal with them on the other hand is a pain in the ass.
I utilize River Past Video Cleaner Pro, after getting it from RMVB to AVI I then use XviD4PSP.
I recommend you use this: Real7ime Converter - http://r7cproj.euro.ru/indexe.htm
Enjoy and Good Luck!

Seems like that program is more of a GUI than a program.
Question..
Have you installed Real Alternative and rebooted before trying to open the file with XviD4PSP?

Thanks again NGspec ^ ^.
After I installed the RealAlternative It works! It can now open all my rmbv format. But still figuring why 1 esp of animation I convert to MP4..the file is SO SO big! OMG 154mb -168mb O.o...
Still exploring see what the best size suit for PSP. I still not yet try to play it on PSP, will try later if I can get the file smaller :P

eeee......
I got the file convert from rmvb to MP4 format size 128mb (its take about 20minutes to file convert, is it normal?)in the folder that I saved to (at my desktop).
I plug in PSP USB connection to my com, and I go to the
MP_Root folder>100MNV01>cut and paste the MP4 file to this location.
Then I goto my PSP select under the Video section...clicked but it show : There are no Videos. O.o how come???

I expect you to be using Firmware 3.03 or higher.
Place the MP4 & JPG in the VIDEO folder on your PSP, X:/VIDEO/
X: being your PSP Drive.

I appreciate the guide you got there (that I've seen copy and pasted a few times) but SWFs aren't Videos... and this have no real connection to this guide apart from having the same Output Format.
I appreciate your concern but this ain't the place.

can anyone help
i have never owned a psp but have just purchased a white slim and lite model
system software version 3.60
i have cucusoft ultimate dvd/video converter which has mpeg4 for psp
i have converted avi to mpeg4 psp and saved in video folder
when i look for it says no videos although 600mb of spacehas been used i assume it must be the wrong format
i havw also downloaded the xvid4psp software as suggested by this thread and the codec pack CCCP but there are 2 rypes of psp formats in the converting software avc and asp butt thread does not mention which i should use as slim psp is only just out

I'm glad you solved your problem, but the 'VIDEO' folder is used with the better quality formats that are supported by the PSPs Newer Firmwares, Including Custom Firmwares.
Quantizer Ultra Conversion of any Film gives the best results, and the results are awesome, pure awesome.

is it normal that the converting takes about 40minutes if the video is .avi and size 358 MB?
resolution: 624x352 > 480x272
vcodec: XviD > x264
vbitrate: 1001 > 21
acodec: MP3 > AAC
abitrate: 133 > 128
gain: 2.178
Encoding video to: C:\Temp\0004.264
x264 Q21 480x272 24fps (60883 frames)

Can I also ask how long XVID4PSP would take to convert a 1.5hr movie? I currently use PSPVC - the output is awesome but the software took nearly 4 hours to convert my movie (The original Italian Job - can't buy it on UMD). I have tried the Trial version of Cucosift DVD to PSP Converter and was impressed with the speed, the output was not as good as that from PSPVC though (PSPVC uses the Video folder, Cucusoft uses MProot)

To answer both your questions..
Quantizer Modes range from Turbo to Ultra... Fastest to Slowest.. Worse to Best quality.
I personally use Turbo because Quantizer is a hell of a lot more effective than 1-Pass Ultra or Turbo runs.
So the Time it takes I cannot tell you, thats your choice entirely.
Hope this helps!

But (and I am being awkward here) based on YOUR settings, how long would you expect it to take to convert a 1.5hr movie - the reason I ask is that I am considering buying the CUCUsoft software and if the XVID is still a lot faster than PSPVC (real time would be ok) then I would go with that route instead...
Sorry if I am being a pain

Buying the CUCUsoft Software would be a waste of money...
For a 1hr 30mn (approx) film on my Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz it would take about 45mins - on Turbo.
But it varies on different machines.
Let me remind you again - buying the CUCUsoft Converter would be complete waste of money.

Thanks sensei
I have a 3.2gig P4 with 512meg of Ram, I think I'll go with the XVID method and not bother with cucusoft.

Sounds like the Machine will work great for converting.
Tip: Batch Convert Overnight so Time isn't an issue anyway!

I am struggling here - downloaded the latest version of xvid4psp, do I need to tip my DVD to HDD first or can this work straight from the disc? I ask because it keeps failing when I rip using Decrypt
