Yep, same thing to you too buddy. I guess we're just here doing our part trying to help those that are having issues with this movie (SILENT HILL) or any new released.
Your guide (RipIt4Me) at the "user submitted Guides" is very good with every details. I was going to put a brand new RipIt4Me guide on my Blog and or submitted it over there, but since you beat me already, I'll just keep my eyes on your thread that's all.

You'll need to "Open Files" via DVD Shrink or "Import Files" via Nero Recode, transcode the movie, then burn the final VIDEO_TS with Nero or ISO with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn (your choice).
Good luck and happy burning.

**NOTE: for the guide, I'm using HOSTEL, but you can "transcode" SILENT HILL using the exact steps.
<><><> STEP 3 <><><>
- Transcode the movie with Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink (your choice)
Both DVD Shrink and Nero Recode are from the same author, so it shouldn't really matter. You can use any of your desire "transcoding" or "encoding" engines. Again, for this guide, I will use Nero Recode 2.

You may not have Recode with that OEM version, but if you have CloneDVD try opening the file with that program. If you ripped the full DVD then choose the Clone DVD option. Then browse for the file and see if it will open. If you still have problems just dl DVD Shrink that will get the job done and it is free. Just check the RipIt4Me link in my sig for software and how to use Shrink.

So use Shrink and have Nero burn it, or use shrink to create ISO file and burn it with ImgBurn or Decrypter.
Edit: Just got around to watching Silent Hill. What was that all about? It was beyond comprehension!!I felt as though I was in parallel universes, the bad and the horribly funny! They are teaching our children NOT to go into dark, strange rooms? What POS are we in for next week. I honestly wish AnyDVD would not have worked for this one.

What error message are you getting in Shrink? Did you try opening the file in Reauthor mode, this may work. Also, are the files in a folder that reads VIDEO_TS or are they just in a folder with movie title. You can create a folder that reads VIDEO_TS and it must be exactly this way and put your IFO's, BUP's and VTS files in it and then try to open that way.

When I open it with Shrink it says " Failed to open file C:/Silent_Hill\video_ts\VTS_01_1VOB.
Yes It says VIDEO_TS
I tryed to use re-author but nothing shops up after I click on the S.H file.
By the way this is the first movie I had this much problem with.I've burnt over 20 DVDs. I guess it's because it's so new.

Did you run FixVTS after you ripped the movie with RipIt4Me, sounds like the file was not cleaned properly. Check and make sure you have FixVTS installed and the path correct in the settings. Then if you can rerip the movie and make sure it is run through FixVTS.

what version of fabdecrypter are you using? some people have reported problems with beta 3 and beta 4 versions, but going back to 2.9.8.3 seems to work for this movie. if you have and are using 2.9.8.3 and vobblanker doesn't work, you might want to try ripit4me and see if that works. always good to have more tools, and it's free. good luck. let us know what happens.

@surfgeo
DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.8.3 can handle SILENT HILL (US, Region 1). I've tested it and it worked flawlessly with DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker.
Here is what I'd posted earlier on page 2 (a mini guide) for those that needed helps or is having issues ripping this movie.
Quote: @newbies or those needed helps
Well, since a lot of newbies (members) are having issues left to right, I thought I'll just throw in a very basic guide "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" for those that are clueless and or needed helps.
**NOTE: The guide has been tested and it worked -- matter of fact, I've tested both ways, in combo with VobBlanker and without. Nero Recode 2 can handle the job either way easily. However, if you're the few (like me) that like to BLANK out junks from your movie/dvds, then it's wise to post process with VobBlanker, plus it helps to correct any minor structures.
**NOTE: I'm using DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.8.3 and it took 18 minutes to rip SILENT HILL (US, Region 1)
<<< STEP 1: Rip the movie using DVDFAB Decryptery >>>
<<< STEP 2: Process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker >>>
**NOTE: for this movie, I blanked out all trailers, except "Ghost Rider" only. To Blank out any scene or vTS that's basically junk, just click on any VTS, play/preview it, then use BLANK button on the "Right" or double click on PGC entry, Highlight any Cell #, Prev/Cut to play, then BLANK it out.
And now the rest is history, meaning free of junks/craps, so it should be super easy on DVD Shrink, Nero Recode 2, DVD-RB Pro or any of your desire engines. Enjoy your backup and happy burning.

Has anyone done a dl burn of this, keeping the layer break? I know dvdfab won't preserve it, and decrypter won't finish ripping, so I can't create a psl with pgcedit. I'm already backing up movie and extras to two separate dvd5's but I'm still curious how to proceed with a dl in a situation like this.
On a separate issue, if I open the ripit4me file with VobBlanker instead of using fixvts(which I'd have to do to erase junk if dvdfab didn't work, because you can't use one after the other)it encounters problems and doesn't produce anything usable. Does anyone know a way to use VobBlanker if neither decrypter/pgcedit nor dvdfab will eliminate the major problems?
