i'm using img burn and verbatim dvd+rs [usually i use hp dvd+rs, so the disc "could" be the problem, i'm not sure]
When you use a region changer you are changing the region of the disc, not your Wii. Run Wiigion Free on your ISO file and change it to USA, burn it again, and test it out
my book setting on imgburn is DVD_rom.
thanks! help me soon!

Ok let's knock it off.
I can guarantee this question gets asked ALOT. All THROUGH the forum - same deal how to back up a disc once the copy protection has been removed. Verification bit gets asked alot too.
Nero is too easy to use to copy a backup - almost one click. If you really need a guide check their site for the full tutorials. There are also tutorials on aD.
As for your copy not working you do not give any details on what EXACTLY that means - that can mean many things and have different causes.
Now for the attitude well that deserves a little break.

Try using imgburn to read the backed up disc and make an ISO of it.
Then check the size of the ISO and burn it again.

That is correct 4.37GB size.
I have had a couple ISO that I had to use WiiBrickBlocker_v1_3R2 and patch them, then burned again and they worked.

Hi guys. After googling how to copy wii games, and finding this great tutorial, I snagged an 8163B off ebay, slapped it into an external usb case, and 3hrs later, had my first backed-up game in the Wii and working!
Excellent tutorial, pretty much answers all the questions, and the thread itself is full of (mostly) useful tidbits and tips.
Reader: HP-Branded GDR8163B mounted in HP DC3000 USB External Drive Case
Burner: HP-Branded GSA4084N
BurningWare: Nero on XP Pro, on an HP DV9220 notebook
Media: Maxell DVD+R
Wii Mod: WiiKey

If your drive is not listed then it won't work.
If you think it will work then try it.
@vinzul
You either need a chip or you can follow this tutorial to install the HBC and WiiGator Gamma Bootloader
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/735325
As for where to get a chip, depends I guess where you live.

Okay I have followed this guide to the 't' and I have gotten to the nero burn part. I found my image in the rawdump folder and I am suppose to burn directly onto the disc (using dvd +r verbatime 16x) and not to the hard drive correct?
Well the problem is nero says my LG drive and dvd+r verbatim is "no disc inserted or drive not ready" error.
This is the same drive that I used to dump onto LG dvd rom drive.
Help!

Check to make sure your drive is "Selected" and not Image Drive
I have done that a few times and forget to change it back.

Are you trying to burn the dumped image to the same LG 816XB drive you dumped it from? If so, that's not gonna work,s ince the four LG drives listed in the tutorial are DVD-ROM drives, that's ROM, Read-Only. You cannot burn a disc with those.
There seems to be a lot of confusion about this...
You need two separate dvd drives (and a decent amount of hard drive space) to accomplish the entire process.
First, a dvd dumper, one of the four LG models listed on the first page (here again, for reference GDR-8161B, GDR-8162B, GDR-8163B, GDR-8164B), to read the original, retail Wii game disc, and "dump" an image of it to your hard drive. As these are DVD-ROM drives, all they can do is read a dvd. The four listed are the only four to have been tested to consistently successfully rip a retail disc to a usable ISO image!
Second, a dvd writer drive. Almost any DVD writer will do, as long as your dvd writing software is capable of recognizing an ISO disc image.

Scrolled back up to find your earlier post. The HL-DT-ST DVDROM Gh2oNS10 *is* your drive's model number. It's not one of the four drives listed in the tutorial, so I don't think it will make reliable disc dumps, even if Rawdump is able to read any info at all from the Wii disc.

thanks Ahhhh... No! PC-101 is not part of this course if you are going to attempt Wii backups you need to know your OS environment, hardware included, whether it be Linux, MAC, or Windows. However this issue of the reader vs. burner has been addressed as many other points too many times if you just would go back through this overly long thread.
One miss leading thing I see in this thread and all over the board is the idea that if you have media like Verbatim +/-R your OK. This is far from true as Verbatim gets there media from different MFG's depending on the sku and price point. Some Verbatim disc's are great and then others are really bad and they can be in the same +/- format. Too many people just getting into this have problems because they are told if they get + or -R Verbatim's they're golden. If you look at the disc MFG and where they were made or even what type of dye is used it helps. A common rule is if the disc was made in Japan you'll probably have good luck with it, like Sony's gold disc +RW's which are made by Ricoh LTD. Japan. I've tried some cheap disc's like TDK and Dynex but they are mostly bad. If you get premium disc's that have the AZO dye you'll most likely have good luck. Also if you are using Raw Dump be sure to install Frameworks 2.0 even if you are using Vista which only comes with 3.0 installed. I've noticed others on this board getting errors that were related to this.
Here is a write up I did about a year ago for another forum on media I found and use that works or doesn't work well. Note that I have RW's in there, it is a good idea to find a RW that will work well for you in order to test your ISO backup(s) with, this will prevent coasters. Also note that modchips can be funny with different media, that is to say that WiiKey 1.x may not be able to play a working backup from a D2Pro working backup. With this in mind always make a backup of you ISO image so you don't have to try burning disc-to-disc straight which doesn't always work well. Compress your ISO and burn the archive to disc for future use.
Previous Media/Burner write-up:
30% of the Memorex DVD+R 16x (CMC MAG M01) would fail and media varied in supported speeds. Also had most of the issues with the end of spindle in which almost every disc was failing. Only went through about 30 of these discs before giving up on them.
Less then 1% of the Memorex DVD-R 16x from both (RITEKF1 and CMC MAG. AM3) were bad. Used over 40 discs of (CMC MAG. AM3) and about 35 of (RITEKF1).
As you can see Firmware levels should be taken into consideration as they effect the timing tables of the drive. If I update my firmware I'll be able to burn more reliably faster but may loose my slow burn rates and read compatability.
All discs were tested with the D2CKey retail chip not pre-ordered.
Both Nero 7 and ImgBurn was used during this process I found ImgBurn to be more reliable but Nero worked very well for the most part.
Of the 3 burners my ASUS is my prefered drive, I have the best luck/quality of burn with it.
